SGOTM 05 - Misfits

There's a set of rules and guidance info in the Reference thread that's linked in every thread I've posted about this and all SGOTMs. I'm sure you've all read it, and it should answer most of your questions. However, to refresh your memory ... :p

- No, you don't look at other team threads - that's even stated in the first post in *your* team thread

- 24/48 is usually sequential - 24 hours to say you've got it (you have downloaded it and it loads on your system), and then another 48 hours to play your turns and post your log - but it's up to team leaders to enforce a schedule that suits the game, the players, and the taget 3 months that I have set.

- Posting style is up to you and your team. Try to think what you would need to know if you are reading someone else's post with the intention of discussing or playing the next turns. There's a limit of 10 images per post, including smilies, so if you don't want to run into multiple posts, you'll need to be selective with your screenshots.

My bad on the first one...

The other ones I was just kind of checking with my team and asking stuff at the same time. Will you be on our team?! :trophy:

I'll go re-read all the stuff. I read it a month ago, but I slept since then.

Thanks,
Mastiff

Howdy gents, haven't read up on the thread yet, but will later tonight. Still need to install the mod to look at the save as well.

ok cant figure it out the mod install (1st one).. the readme talks about the mod installed but its not with the mod and I cannot seem to locate it. Any pointers would be great..

I'll install the mods tonight, too. When you say "look at the save", do you mean download our save file?! I'd think that was a no-no, but hey, I'm just learning this game. So, any advice is appreciated! :)

We can look at the save. Oh right, I'm on the team :D if you guys didn't know. Sorry for the confusion.

EDIT: Can anyone direct me to the MOD? I've been searching, but haven't found it.

Anyones save at any time? And... really I'm not trying to be dense here... can we mess around and play with it? Or just take a look. I don't want to accidentally do something wrong.

I figured out you were on the team all by myself, however!

That's exactly what I was asking. So I can get the save off the page right now, even though it's not my turn, but just to look at it. When you do that, do you delete it when you're done?

I do hope to learn a lot playing with you all, so I want to get all the rules straight...

ok me aswell, mod installed, save loaded. A little tropical paradise of our own :) A financial civ's paradise. so what are peoples idea on second city location? as we can see our close surrounds.

Normally i would go straight for that stone, right where that scout is standing and wonder build, however, that's because i'm a builder. Also there is a clam to grab there, shame one lonely hill :( plus our capital doesnt have a mineable hill. I guess when copper shows we will get a better idea.

There is a nice clump of hills near that river south west which will be our main hammer city by the looks of it. Ummm I'm a 3rd city early kind of guy, what are other peoples thoughts on that? we have no barbs so it feels natural thing to do as it seems a waste to build anymore warriors.

Also it seems we will need iron working early to chop all this jungle. We don't have a choice. This brings me to a question about how we would pull off an axeman rush on saladin? we still have to research fishing and sailing to get galleys. Then we have reduced buliding capacity due to lack of hammers, so pumping out some axes aswell as galleys, then transporting them... And we need iron working and more workers ASAP else no other cities we build can have any early growth (besides the stone and clam location).

Ok i hope thats enough to get some discussion going :)

Edit: we could farm the hell out of our capital and incorporate slavery, but without civil sevice none of our other cities may get much value from this strategy.

It has been almost 24 hours and Heathcliff hasn't done anything about the save file. He also mentioned hat he would be going away for a while so it looks like he is skipped for now.

Good work Maro, ok cnwjr! show us what you made of :)

Since we are a new team, i suspect our level of teamwork will suffer compared to other teams? please ask any questions or offer any advice you see fit at any time guys, the more we discuss, the more we learn and the better chance of avoiding the wooden spoon hehe

Naw. Most of the other teams are at least 40% new players, so I dont' think we're catchign that much disadvantage.

And yes Mastiff, you can download the save and look around. But no playing ahead (That would obviously be cheating.) In fact, there's no rules about how many saves you can upload to the SGOTM site, so you can play 3 turns and then pause, upload and ask opinions, if you want.

Crap. I'm on deck. n.n;;

I would also say that skips due to no contact should probably be placed on a seperate 'skip' roster until we get contact with them again. Then they can be slipstreamed back into the mix after the current turn.

I joined a team in this a while back but I don't have the time to play it now so if you could remove me from the team.

@tonyf12: Not that long ago ... OK. Done ...

I'm having the D3DX9 problem, but I hope to have it all fixed by my turn... I'm running in sand, but at least I'm running!

EDIT: I'm a builder type, too... so I'd also go for the stone.

Mastiff, you just need the current direct X. I on the other hand, can not finger out my problem. I can probably post a million times asking for help, but I'm used to everyone here not understanding that just because they know what they're talking about when it comes to computer stuff doesn't mean everyone else does. Not that the effort isn't appreciated or anything though. I have no mods for Civ4 other than the one I installed for this game, so that's no help telling me to check my mods.

Sorry I can't help... I'm no computer whiz.
