SGOTM 07 - Maintenance Thread

Yes, thought I'd solved the issue. Darn thing still crashes. I've tried to redownload and replace, but I'm not the best at this sort of thing, so I likely stuffed it up. Perhaps I need to reinstall civ, sans warlords and try again?

Check the GOTM FAQ. The first question gives a check list for this sort of issue.

Ok, nice.

Last time I played SGOTM was on Civ3.. is there some special way of joining a team now, or should I just start posting in the team thread?

I hope I don't seem too... eager to join the game. :mischief:

I can't load the save either. "The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed." Others in the team can load the save, so it must be something to do with my setup.

I have BtS patch 3.13 installed. I have no problems loading other HoF 1.74.02 games (just submitted one two days ago), I've never changed custom assets. Any ideas?

EDIT: Solved the issue by downloading the DLL from here

@Ankka: The Sign up thread has always been the mechanism for joining a team. This game's thread was up over three weeks ago :p

If you have not visited any other team threads you are welcome to join Unusual Suspects, so I have added you to their player list. If you have visited other threads then you will not be able to play, as you will have an unfair competitive advantage.

@Ozbenno: It sounds as if your BtS Update didn't fully work, since the DLLs you downloaded are the same as the ones installed by BtS.

Oh, sorry, I thought all the important threads would still be stickied, I see it now, but it's too late for that. ;)

I haven't looked at any of them, not even the titles. ;)

Sorry for the extra trouble and thanks for having me.

Is there a fixed last date for submission? The announcement says "Please try to complete this game within three months of the start date." Does that mean the last day to submit is July 24?

I seem to recall this being a subject of discussion during the last SGOTM, and was curious.

Is their a problem with civfanatics dot net? Right now I cannot connect to the GOTM site and thus cannot post the save.

I don't think so. I am able to connect to it.

Ozbenno! Thanx! Kaizer have solved the issue by the same way as you did :D
it seems, that there is no sense... simply magic.

No worries. I agree that it makes no sense as I would have thought my HoF games would have had the same problem as it is the same mod but at least it now works (haven't checked if my HoF games still work though )

2. The list of saves should not be a regular place for you to visit as a team member. You should not be going back to look at old saves during the game.
I can't figure out what this is in response to, but I definitely would like a clarifcation. In any Civ game I play, I make saves and refer back to them to check to see changes in status. I might want to see how AI attitudes have changed or when a border expansion happened, or what units an AI had in a city that my scouting was looking into.

Can you possibly be saying that's a no no?

Doing that is allowed, but the same rules apply to playing forward from there as for (p)replaying from a current save: DON'T DO IT. Given that, and given that the uploaded saves are only letting you take a peek every ten turns, on average, the amount of useful information to be gleaned is somewhat limited. So we as the staff would not expect to see old saves downloaded often, no.

Yes, of course--no irreversible actions. I'm not even talking abut downloading, anyway. I'm talking about me and my team members referring to saves that we make, turn by turn, as we play. SO that's okay, right?

Yes, it is.

Little problem with the graph on the progress page I try to adjust the dates and the start date won't adjust to any time frame.

Ex: I tried to adjust it to start at 3200 and end on 1520 the end time changed but the start time didn't change
