SGOTM 12 - One Short Straw

Not really, I don't think. Doubt he even has a potential attack unit in Lyons, probably just 2-3 CG archers.

Feel free to make an executive decision on infra builds. The newer cities are a bit stuck without Slavery regardless, so I don't think it matters so much.

You can play the 4t, as far as I'm concerned.

@LC did you means Rheims?

I'm thinking that whipping courthouses is more important than forges since it seems like :espionage: is worth more in this game than most games (at least worth 2 times as much :science:) and the gold savings is also now worth a lot more than an equivalent amount of :science: . Although I can go with the forge before the courthouses if we think this is best. Maybe far cities courthouse first then forge?
No, sorry, I meant Kamchatka, but ch instead of library. The reason simply being that I'm hoping we can whip the ch before we switch out of slavery. I figured the library, also important, is faster and could even be chopped there.

I agree on the ch before forge now, but only because we're headed out of slavery and as you said, our need for EPs. Otherwise I wouldn't prefer it, because soon enough we'll want forges more or less everywhere.

I've been doing something similar. Only way I've been able to keep track of everything is to actually check things off (tracking gold for example)

I'll add a few steps since we are at war...
Yes. My main concern was the city MM with those engineers auto-hiring and all the poprushing we're doing and whatnot. City MM is really a turn-by-turn affair right now.

For myself, I notice that no matter how careful I decide to be, something sooner or later throws me off, and I forget city MM for a turn or two. So I actually have my checklist written down and in front of me, so I don't forget... :)

DOn't worry about Kamchutka getting captured. Sh!t happens. ;)

I agree with your principle about building chs>forges for now. Basically, I think we should assume we're going to revolt out of slavery on about T162-165 (after Moscow has built the Shanghai SoD). So if we can poprush a ch before then, then it's a good build for now. Otherwise, maybe save it for later.

In Paris, since we're delaying the Mao attack, I'd change build sequence to granary-trireme-galley-galley.

Is building 3 units in Paris really worth it, just to take Shanghai 1T earlier? I think we would be better off whipping infrastructure there whilst we still have access to the whip.

I also think that right now courthouses are more useful than forges.

Btw, bcool, the forest at Bermuda is also fair game, as far as I'm concerned. Forests are gradually losing their value, the farther we get from Mathematics and we're going to workshop all grass tiles anyway. So chop away, wherever you see fit, imo, especially if it helps finish/poprush a build, or even puts some good failed gold into our coffers.

I think so. First, every turn is crucial, and btw the galleys save us 2 turns to Shanghai. :) But to me, that's the least of it. They also allow us to:
  • land a mini-SoD that threatens both Beijing and Shanghai, so Shanghai doesn't get reinforcments from Beijing.
  • only threaten Shanghai for 1 turn before capturing, thus minimizing the likelihood that he whips more than 1 unit or brings in wandering units
  • speed up our invasion of Guangzhou by an additional 2 turns, after building one fort at Shanghai-SW
  • continue flowing units straight to the front by building an ever-growing galley chain
  • use our galley-chain to attack either Churchill or Roosy next, or both, or Gandhi
Ideally we will have completely conquered the world by the time we get our first corporation. That's got to happen over the course of what? 20-30 turns after Communism? Less?

Rheims
1 pop whip library next turn, overflow to catapult?, courthouse? forge?

Ok so do we need a no xp catapult from Rheims or directly to the courthouse?

Oxford (for failure gold) ( I get to build it here at least for 1 turn ) - catapult (2 pop) - overflow Parthenon - confu missionary?/catapult? - Parthenon

And do we need a no xp catapult from GP Farm or should it build a macemen? or just whip confu missionary for overflow/spreading religion

Edit: I think I'm ready to play just wanted to double check on these items. I have my tea and my checklists :)

Forget the units from Rheims and GP Farm, I think. I'd whip a spy rather than a Confu Miss since we're thinking about stealing Philo soon.

leapfrogged by bbp again! :)

Gandhi wants 4 resources for his iron, (Gems, Sugar, Fur, Ivory if we want to avoid health resources) Or I could give him our only horses? (although there is a horse on crab island near the spices)

any thoughts?

We'll work it out. You could move the weaker axe back to the hill to see if they went north or south.

If they went north, move the C2 axe to Marseilles 1SW

Might try to lure to Paris? Easier to kill in the field, Move 8 xp macemen adj to Orleans, move 2 with catapults back, attack units coming to Paris with 2/3 maces garrison with 1/2 maces depending on the threat posed. Don't unload the chariot to leave it undefended?
