SGOTM 16 - U'nu'sual S'us'pec'ts

As an aside, looks like PR started their war machine build up about 15 turns before we did.
Think they went without the Maces? Perhaps we can see that Cat/CB rush.

In any event a full day of work tomorrow, need to get some shut eye.
Good Luck Chris!

Smurkz used to play with a chat window in Skype, commenting all the way through.

Things are going great, taking a break to have dinner.

Sounds great, Chris! :goodjob:

Good night SH!

Oh come on.
"Pan right, no pan left", "Bring up the advisor screen", "DoW, DoW, Dow"

Do it NOW!!!!!!!!

C'mon, what are you doing....

edit: sorry, missed that. Good night SH. When you wake up, I will have already posted a first draft PPP. :D

edit2: obviously I won't play for a day or 2, as we have a few things to sort out RE: Legendary cities and such

Taking a family break for an hour or 90 minutes or so, will finish up after. Other than the worker misclick, everything is going perfectly according to plan.

No worries, I will stop pressing F5 every minute. :)

I was going to try to keep you entertained by listening to the India-England test match in cricket, but apparently the BBC audio stream is blocked because I am in the US. India is up 61-0 before England has come to bat. I take it that is not good (edit: for the English)?

Edit: And it is now a "drinks break".

61-0 is a good start for India, but it is in India, and the pitches (that is the 22 yards of rolled, dried out grass that they play on) are notoriously flat (which makes it easier for the batsmen), so expect scores of 400+.

Ahh, the drinks break. Every game needs a drinks break.

The Aussies are currently playing a series against South Africa, and the first test was a draw. 5 days of playing and nobody won!!! but it was a great test match. :)

They are now 98/0. Virendar Sehwag is going nuts! Smashing it around.

edit: I can watch the Bills v Dolphins tomorrow. Might record it. Must admit my interest in NFL dropped a bit when Warren Moon retired, I used to love the 4 wide receivers they ran at the Houston Oilers, then Minnesota Vikings.

Now that should give you a big hint of how long ago that was!!!

I take it that this is a good score for this point in the match? My son and I are consulting Wikipedia to enhance my extremely rudimentary knowledge of how the game is played.

I think we should institute drinks breaks for our turnsets.

Good luck, it seems simple if you grew up with it, but I know it isn't.

98/0 is a great start, as each team has 11 batters, and will continue until 10 of them get out. So they have 98 runs and they haven't lost any batsmen yet.

The Houston Oilers? Wow. You have been watching (American) football for a while. :)

Are they really going to continue until 10 of the 11 Indian players make an out? Or does this continue until there have been 50 overs?

Edit: Wikipedia tells me there is an Australian footballer named Warren Moon who plays for Peninsula Power

Yes, its been a while :)

Thats a 1 day match, or 'limited-overs'. A test match just continues until they lose 10 wickets, or 'declare'. The limitation of a test match is 5 days.

Each side has 2 innings in a test match. So to use your vernacular, its the 'top of the first'.

There are sometimes occasions where 2 batsmen bat all day and score a crazy amount of runs. The most famous example is this one, where 2 indian batsmen turned a match from certain defeat into a victory, by batting all day. India scored so few in their first innings, that Oz made them bat again (called 'following on', 2nd team must score more than 200 runs less), and Oz lost. Only the second time ever a team forced to follow on won the game.

Wow that does look crazy. One batsman for India accounted for 281 runs.

And now they are breaking for lunch with India up 120-0 and no outs.

Yes, better to play sober than quickly :)

@ Trys, how old is your son?

He's 9.

I just checked the test match score before turning in for the night. It's 174-1. Sehwag is still at bat. People on the BBC stream are complaining about the pitch.

I'm not surprised they are complaining, it's now 246-2, pitch must be 'flat as a tack'.

It will be paradise to bat on for 2-3 days, and then start crumbling. India has lots of spin bowlers, rather than fast bowlers, so they will have a big advantage at the end.

edit: molecular biologist doing genome engineering in Histoplasma capsulatum, sounds impressive!!

Can you hear that everyone......

Its the sound of the tumbleweeds blowing through the thread as all the americans sleep.
