SGOTM 19 - Also Sprach Sid

I'm going to gift some Pigs to Tokugawa. We have a spare, and I *think* this will establish trade routes a turn sooner.

He doesn't have any spare GPT.

Edit: no luck. Oh well, it will help with diplo.

Unfortunately we're not getting Mathematics from a trade unless another AI acquires it... and then it'll depend on whether they're pursuing HG.

We can't even go for Music because it requires Mathematics. Maybe Metal Casting?

If HC trades Math from Alex and another AI got Math. Our suboptimal opening comes from not going Math instead of Alpha. Soundjata had the right intuition.

Taking a break to think this through:

Spoiler :

FWIW:

Spoiler :

Can't do much about it, 2 workers have to go 1SE of the axe this turn. And you could delay the settler by 1 turn. Why neither KK nor HC trade Math from their friend for so long time?:(

No Settler yet, but a Chariot is guarding the spot:

Spoiler :

I can delay our Settler, I just need to think it through and make sure that it's the best move.

The Archer 2SE of the Ivory is a problem, if we delay the Settler whip:

Spoiler :

If we delay the whip, I can guard the Forest/Road tile 1NE of the Ivory with the City Raider III Axe, although this only has 3.5/5 health. But that seems best to me.

Ok with this?

Edit: actually, I suppose the Settler could pause for a turn on the Pigs and then move 4 tiles into Toku's territory (on T77).

Let the woodman axe turn back, we have another axe in the north near the stone site, right? let it move to the stone site.

It wasn't quite easy to predict the opening of this game. What with the tons of barbs and super delay in meeting AIs as a result.

We could also coopt the Worker 1SE of Constantinople.

T75

T77:

1 old Worker: road 2N of Lalibela
New Worker: road Dye

T78:

Road network up.
Settle 1SE of Rice.

This will slow the Granary in Horse city.

There are many reasons, I just mentioned something that we could do better. Meeting AIs earlier to get the Monarchy trade was a potential result of improving the game.

This will slow the Granary in Horse city.

This is going to waste a lot of worker turns moving forth and back.

Even with this, getting settler 1 turn slower settles the same turn.

Let the axe check whether the LB dies next turn.

Ok...

T74

2 Workers in Toku: move to 1NE of Lalibela

T75

2 Workers: move to 2N of Lalibela
Whip Settler

T76

1 Worker: move 3N1E of Lalibela, to Dye.

Settler: move to Pigs.

T77

1 Worker: road 2N of Lalibela (2/2)
1 Worker: road Dye (1/2)

Settler: move 1NE of Lalibela.

T78

1 Worker: road Dye (2/2)

Settle City if threatened. Wait a turn if not.

We just need to be careful if the LB survives and the Archer moves to a position where it could threaten the Settler.

Spoiler :

Change Wealth cities to Courthouses?

Rice Pudding will start a Missionary.

And still healthy:

Spoiler :

Yes to CH.

Not any natural religious spread?

A headache of selecting the next tech. Maybe Compass?

The LB has nothing to pillage now, either moves away or attacks, so the corn will be clear next.

Yes to CH.

Not any natural religious spread?

No such luck.

A headache of selecting the next tech. Maybe Compass?

Eh, I guess. Maybe Metal Casting?

Compass is better trade bait, but I worry we are going have next to no trade opportunities in this game.

The LB has nothing to pillage now, either moves away or attacka, so the corn will be clear next.
^^^^ if we're lucky, the barbs might capture Lalibela. :D

Unlikely with the CGII Archer, I know. It would require a mass attack.

I've located HC:

Spoiler :

Shall we (a) push further and scout his territory; (b) swing back and check out the barb city, in case we can capture it; (c) swing back and scout the central area.

(b) and (c) for me.

I don't think we will complete either MC or Compass ourselves before Edu and Nat. Choosing Compass is just because there might be no AI going to research it before we turn back to finish it ourselves to bulb Lib.

Let the axe turn back, it's too slow to scout much.

All done, uploading now.

T76 is not complete, although I made a couple of small moves to help with planning.
