SGOTM 19 Pregame Discussion Thread - The Trumpster

This is the thread to discuss if you have questions about stuff sgotm19-related.

Some have pondered the viability of 3-member teams. I would say that depends on the dedication of those three teaam members. As previously discussed, staff are agreed that 4-5 member teams will be viable in this "leaner and meaner" competition. 3 is qustionable, but if those three have prior history as highly interested and active team participaters, 3 would work.

Think fast and furious. You will want to get to Democracy while there is still time to make good strategic decisions about your endgame. Perfect in 4 months is last place here. Its not how many you are, but how good a team you are that will be decisive between teams with high civ BtS skills.

Fun is guaranteed, or your money back. Doubled.;)

Quick and maybe stupid question (and maybe already asked):
I suppose that the hidden objective will be something related to the modern era, but just in case, what happens
a) if a team has already completed the objective before Democracy?
b) if a team has put itself in the condition to not being able to complete the objective?

a) good for you! makes life easy.

b) rotflol! no. seriously, rotflmao!

If you live long enough to learn the extra requirement, I am certain you are skilled enough to be able to complete it. But i hope not, in both senses-:satan:

only 1 city liberation maximum in each of the remaining civs.
Does this mean we can liberate more than 1 city to the same AI as long as we make sure it is dead by the time the game is over? :mischief:

Not very likely but we never know... :satan:

The answer to your question is "yes".

But I think I might need to clarify something: you absolutely will NOT be allowed to gain UN/AP diplomatic victory with votes from such a civ and then eliminate them in the final "Wait---one---more---" turn. The purpose of this restriction is to prevent use of city liberation from making diplomatic victories -and diplomacy in general- a lot easier. But it is a valid game mechanic with useful purposes even if diplomacy isn't the main intent, so I did not want to prohibit it altogether.

What if we gain more than 1 diplomacy point with a civilization that we kill and subsequently recreate as a colony?
Spoiler :
:groucho:

Can you release colonies when you play without vassals?

AFAIK no and there are no colony expenses also. This is hard to create a colony on lake mapscript, but never trust mapmaker :D

The team threads are now open. I have heard no dissent to the teams as listed.

What techs do the barbs start with??? I assume they just have the usual archery?

From the sign-up thread:

-You and all AI (and barbs) start with all of the Ancient Era technologies EXCEPT those which grant a religion (i.e. Meditation, Polytheism, and Monotheism), so all religions can be founded and none are distributed randomly. Priesthood will NOT be included for the human players.

[PRIESTHOOD]The answer to your question is definitely maybe, and I'm not telling you even if I know the answer.:p

I'm not sure I see the point in making this a mystery. It's hugely impactful.

I think that is a joke. The game description makes it clear that the AI and barbs start with priesthood.

End of mystery: Barbs and AI do indeed start with Priesthood.

The stuff I meant to tell you about is in the game description. You would be wise to assume there is stuff I decided to let you find out about on your own.:mischief:

Do all the Ai start with 200 gold too or is this a mystery we need to work out??

It's obvious it should be, but just to avoid useless discussions with my team:

The objective unlocked by Democracy is mandatory for a medal, making the tech itself mandatory

Please correct me if i'm wrong but please state it clearly in the game requirements, which seem not to be so clear for all.
