Another angle: how much do we actually gain from the worker? Per turn? If he has to travel to the somewhat distant chops over by SB and chop those unenculturated tiles, what are we getting, two or three hammers per turn?
The worker turns canal city food into 60 gold.
Then chops for another 60 gold.
Then gets those 2 Sitting bull forests
Then gets 2 mines or windmills for canal

I'm happy to send our workboat down as fast as possible.
I'm sure we can replace it fairly soon.

Where exactly the wb is going can be decided next turnset.

I still think Clams whipping a wb replacement T93 is the best solution.
The city loses 14 food compared to netting seafood at border pop t88, but clam city has no anger problems and I want that 60 gold in canal from the worker whip.

Wait.
14 food is 1 pop in Clam City.
Workboat whip is 1 pop in Clam City.
I forgot how much population matters with rep/caste.

Perhaps a wb produced from worker overflow in canal is the better solution.
No anger is produced.

I change my vote to T83 worker whip->workboat in Canal City.

We lose 60 gold but gain 2 pop in Clam City.
The 2 population can use up 10 food getting us 60 beakers during caste.

Okay, but could those worker-turns come from a not-gems miner?
We might currently be on T82 with 20/60 Worker.

I was gonna suggest we squeeze it in before Banking, but we have very little to manually research between Banking and Biology.

Compass+optics is 1550:science. Earliest would be:

T115 we have MC + Machinery already, and Oxford is online.

T121 Optics?

That's seems like the earliest, but I'm not suggesting we do that.
 
Okay. Once again, I’m not vetoing anything. I just think we might be making a huge mistake if we fail to meet AIs in time.

I love WT’s Paper solution, especially because I still assert my research on SB starting with a mysterious 4K power and my hypothesis that equates to SB unit(s) exploring and meeting AIs.

But the Paper solution gambles that we’ll actually meet any AIs with our chariot sentried.

Then again, sending a wb down there likewise gambles 30h will actually meet ANY AIs. Why haven’t any AIs arrived from there yet?

Sure, I understand. I just see the voting going 4-1 or 3-2 against me (I had MItch in my camp earlier, but I think he got lost in the woods), so I'm giving my input on the boat, which again is: worker overflow -> wb in Canal.

The map maker seeded the entire map with long chains of single tile islands.
Emperor AI are constantly sailing into elaborate mazes @_@

I think earliest we need Philo: T130
Could more realistically be T140.
Depends on if we, for example, do Lit+Music for the Artist for the GAge, or just use Canal's GP (like if it is a spy)
I like the sound of free Lit and Music at the cost of an Artist, but only if we get a spy

Optics is likely just a few turns after that since we will be doing 500bpt.

I can't decide if 20/60 Worker whip or 29/60 Worker whip in Canal is best to make a Workboat with.
The 1st gives +9 food to Canal, but the 2nd gives +18 gold with mids.
Canal will have +3 anger on T92 and one of them won't wear off until T96.
That means Size 5 is as big as we can be until T95.

The 20/60 Worker whip gives +1 worker turn, and the +9 food gives us +2:gold: on T83, T85, T87, T89 because we regrow 1 turn earler than the 29/60 whip. (And work coast instead of tundra T83)

I suspect the 20/60 Worker whip is better, but I'm not certain. :hmm:
