Actually the Topic I'm talking about is gonna go a little further... I wasn't sure what kind of title to use lol.

Anyways from what I see, the EE (Espionage Economy) is a Variation of of the CE (Cottage Economy) where you convert commerce in to EPP instead beakers.

I was also wondering how a EE would work under SE (Specialist Economy) especially in the early to mid game before Constitution. When the only spy specialist you can assign is from a Courthouse?

There are no other methods of getting Spies before constitution, therefore I suggest Caste system should allow unlimited spies, from a game play POV (not sure how historically accurate that would be but I don't really care because I don't study history lol)

Other methods of allowing earlier spy specialist in the game could be from Castles allowing an extra 2 Spy Specialist (they obsolete anyways)

and Scotland Yard allowing 3 Spy Specialist, it'd be similar to a Shrine built in a holy city except you can place SY anywhere you want

I know that caste system allows unlimited scientisists, artists and merchants only.

lol i know that too, but the question is should CS be changed so it also allows unlimited spies?

I think it's not good because then you get even more great spies to infiltrate enemy cities... And it doesn't fit into caste system... Spies are so annyoing already :D

I agree with the suggestion that Scotland yard should allow you to assign - say 1 - extra spy specialist.

Yep , I've been playing a SE lately and the addition of spy specialists would be way too much and it wouldn't be historically accurate . Caste system with SE + Representation is strong enough as it is .

I think that getting 1 FREE spy specialist is a good idea after founding scotland yard .

Yes, definitely (although I think two slots would be more balanced). What's the point of building Scotland yard in a city when the most (non-commerce) EPs you can get before Constitution is 10 (palace + courthouse + spy)? Ok, 22 if the capital happens to already have a Great Spy, but still...

^ True that's why I want more buildings in the early game to allow more spy Specialist so I can play a SE/EE game. I think Scotland Yard and Castles allowing Spy Specialist to bridge the SE/EE game between the Classic and Res Age.

I agree that Scotland Yard should allow only 2 Spies now, since I've compared it to the Kermlin and Angkor Wat to a Shrine.

If I can do that I could assign 5 Spies to a high food city combined with SY and Castle and Courthouse that's (22 Base EPP) 49 EPP with modifiers around the time I get Engineering (If I make a reasonable Beeline) and I can also run the EP slider at either 0, 50 or 100 Percent, it probably easier to run at 50% if I combine Spy Specialist with Merchants. |

I'm not sure how much a Commerce a Cottage City could produce and convert it to EPP compared to a Specialist City, I just wanted to play a SE/EE because it's something different.

I have never tried a spy economy. There is no win for it so I figured why bother. Does anyone get good results doing this?

I've never tried running my entire economy on spy specialists, but I HAVE used the Espionage slider to run my tech tree, and yes, it's effective. It's hard to generate a Great Spy before Constitution, though, without the Great Wall.

No, Great Spies are powerful enough early on, and spies themselves are pretty good too

Caste system is fine

and Scotland Yard should probably be moved to later in the tree like Printing Press

Right now I'm playing as prince and I've got about an 800 point lead on everyone in 1600 ad. The only competition I have is Louis, and I just ate half his cities.

I guess I'll put everything into espionage just to see what happens. I don't really care about a tech lead and anyone silly enough to build a spaceship or culture is going to get thumped.
