Looks that Japanise decided to go around us. Using 5x5 rule I have 2 dots to consider next. Since Spain has MMaiking we have to close coast for their settelment.

My estimate is the Japanese settling via land is the greater threat right now, so I would go for Larkin's pink-green dot first (my green dot #3). His other dot on the screenshot below after that.
Once we have those, we can see if Larkin's yellow dot in the screenshot below is still feasible. Then my other green dots (1, 4 and 5) can become fillers.

As far as I remember we have no settler now (but have barracks instead). I think we need some workers ans road west first. I think my pure pink preferable, as Japan can get 4 turns earlier then Pink-green, and Spain may reach this point by Galleys

I thinks it's pretty late to try for the GL ourselves. I'd rather go all out on military and attack the Japanese as soon as we're ready. After BW I'd go for Maths for additional defense.
It's good to see that the Spanish have moved away. If we can stall the Japanese just a bit longer, we'll have a nice core to start with.

I would trade with Egypt of course and do as Mumpulus said. We need to build up a force of MW and try and get as much land and cities as we can against the Japanese. We should replace all enemy towns for the flip risk anyway.
We have to have fast wars and sue for peace, thus fewer defenders needed. We need to confuse the enemy with multiple fronts.
After dealing with Japan, we might want to turn around and go after Spain. Meanwhile build a nice core as we seem well on our way. Things overall look pretty nice
as for techs, we might want to get writing and go for lit on minimum. Would it be possible to get something for writing from nation other than Egypt? But that trade sounds good.

0. 1475 AD. Trade BW, CB, and Masonry from Egyptians for HBR. Trade IW and Mysticism from Egyptians for Alpha +7 gold. Start Writing on Max. Intersting, that France have 4 Iron connected!
7. IBT Persia settle at desert and now only small “legal” area remains. We should settle there first (red dots). Then may consider next (light blue).
8. 1275 AD. Egyptians have Polytheism. Japanese not. Good. Trade 64+64+64+64+16 gold from France for (4+4+4+4+1) gpt. Bought Writing from Japan for 283 gold. Trade Poly+11 for Writing. Trade Poly to Japan for 320 gold (all they have). Make embassy in Kyoto. Japan at Peace with Spain and know nobody else. Also notice, that for our horses they agree to give 320 Gold. It is important:
A) Not let Japan to have own Horses. (Because of that settler there at red Dot)
B) Not let them go to contact North neighbors.
C) Connect second Horses with care! Only when we ready (or will be at war with Spain). We will use it to pay Japan for MA. Otherwise Japan simply will demand it. Alternatively we may be ready for war with Japan and get horses and don’t cave.

I definitely think we should go for them first.

Agree with Mumpulus. Screenshot shows that Japanese don't have that many units (JUST three spears in SID capital) so probably 15-20 MW's should do the job. Let's hope Spain will keep Japan occupied so we could make a good dent on Japan.

Got it, I'll probably have time to play this tomorrow morning (18 hours from now).
I have a few questions.
1) In the screenshot I notice there are still some units deployed as a wall, mostly in the west. Are they still necessary to block? I don't see any foreign settlers anymore.
2) Based on Rat's count we'll have 12 mounties in 3 turns, which is not enough given that we have no spears. On my 7th turn we should be at 15 mounties, and maybe a spear or two. I think that's enough to start on one front (central), but then I wouldn't gamble going south just yet. Niagara Falls mountain should have at least one spear on top, else we'll have to dedicate too many MWs for dynamic defense. So my guess is I'll be building up and positioning troops only. If anyone sees a flaw in my plan (which I posted earlier), they should say so now.
3) If I do feel we're ready to go, I would go all out on Satsuma first (8 MWs available), and hold off on the southern front. I'd move out the southern troops 1 turn later, unless the Satsuma attack goes really well and we don't suffer many casualties. That way, we'll have an indication on Japanese troop movement and numbers in the nearby regions before committing our second attack force. Any comments on those tactics?
4) If we succeed to take out Kagoshima, I'd found blue dot 4 only, and wait a bit on the others until we are certain on the outcome of the war. I wouldn't found blue dots 1 and 3 until we can get rid of some Spanish towns nearby. Ok?

Indeed, no function and I already sent one warrior as MP away, should just sue them for that and get the mounties in position.

Few drawbacks
1) we have nothing to pay for MA to Spain.
2) Because Japan lack of contacts they are good trade partner.
3) They have no good wonders and new lux resources.
However, probably, advantages more important.
Plan looks good, I think to kill Kagoshima is important, otherwise it will produce 1 Archer each turn. If we manage, we may leave empty area and not go to Kyoto. But I am not that big expert on war at Sid.
The only thing we may give to Spain is a Fur. But, probably when at war trade route will be broken. DUnno, if we shall try to build road there first. However at GA we will have more gold. However again, we probably need short war and sue for peace ASAP; in this case we do not need MA.
Research: I think we have to continue Literature anti-gambit. Borrow 28 from Spain for 2 gpt, (move slider back and forward) as we are not going to war. Then watch France! They will give 16 for 1 gpt, this is the best deal! As we do not need Embassy it also save some gold. Increase Sci to 90%, hire Scientist in Salamanca, NF and Oil Springs. (Oil Spring will riot anyway soon). That give Lit in 9, or earlier if somebody will discover it, not Japan, I believe.
Definitely, better trade with Japan first and then go to war. I think they will give us all three techs for “our monopoly” from their point of view.
Ideal scenario is to make Boot Order, less better not to cave. The worth case scenario is declare ourselves. But we may go "the worth case".
I think Mumpulus can make preparation in 8-9 turns and make detailed instruction. Then we will make a final check.

When I offer literature, Japan is doubtful to offer math, close to offer philo, and insulted to offer map making.
I sweeten the deal a bit and get this:
If I had thrown in horses and some more gpt, I could also have gotten Philosophy, but we simply aren't ready for war just yet. I wanted to take what we could get before the Japanese got Literature from someone else.
I set research to currency at 10%. We'll get back a lot of gpt from the French in a couple of turns.

I sweeten the deal a bit and get this:
If I had thrown in horses and some more gpt, I could also have gotten Philosophy, but we simply aren't ready for war just yet. I wanted to take what we could get before the Japanese got Literature from someone else.
I set research to currency at 10%. We'll get back a lot of gpt from the French in a couple of turns.

I don't think we could have gotten Literature any faster without seriously hampering growth and/or production. We were just 2 turns late to discover it. We'll just have to fight our way up.
Handoff notes
- The Japanese worker north of Satsuma will finish roading next turn.
- I think we need a few more spears, then we're ready to go.
- There are a lot of Japanese troops in the west, I saw them parading past our borders. Keep some troops of ours over there.
- Cattaraugus river gets in the way, hence the worker in place to build an additional road. I have a bad feeling about our ability to defend Mauch Chunk.
- At size 7 and during GA, Salamanca will be able to do 2 turn MWs, so let it grow.
- I put an MW in Allegheny to deter the Spanish from sneak attacking us.

I think we have plenty of MWs to do some serious damage very quickly. The main worry I have is with respect to defense. I can't stress enough that I saw a huge number of troops passing by, going from east to west, so there are bound to be quite some archers and spears in the west. Be sure to keep our defense up. We'll need just a few more spears before we can start the war, and keep on building them to replenish our forces. During our GA, there are probably a few towns that can do 3-turn spears.
We'll need spearmen:
- on Niagara Falls mountain (1 spear + 1 warrior/spear as backup)
- in Niagara Falls (keep it at size 7 our higher for added defensive value)
- in Grand River (may need 2 because it's on flat, no river, will riot when MP is lost)
- in our new settlement in place of Satsuma
- in St. Regis
- in Mauch Chunk (will need 2 because it has no defensive bonuses whatsoever, and is surrounded. I'd rather abandon that one than to tie up resources though)
That's 6 to 8 spearmen, we have 4 right now if I remember correctly, with more coming up soon.
