Should get GLib within 25 turns, should be ok if all ai build cascade.

Why work tiles outside territory near ivory?

I'm concerned about Germany: it is the most agressive civ in civ3 and i have a bad feeling they will attack us soon (we are VERY weak). Maybe MA with Germany vs Egypt is a good idea to keep them busy? But that needs some gold for embassy and for MA payment..
 
Did not start to play yet. Traveling now, probably will have time tomorrow at San Paulo airport. Good idea to have embassy with Germans, but I am afraid we do not have enough cash for MA vs Egypt.

After getting GLib we can afford MA with Germans. I mentioned this option in the beginning too, so I like it.
Don't know skill level of Rodent, maybe he can tell us.

Maybe gpt deal with Egypt was not good idea if want war with them. Principle is good. Get deals with Germany to prevent them from attacking us. After 20 turns (or more) de could attack Egypt, let Germany do most of the fighting. Would like some fast units for that to cope with landings. Don't expect al large Egypt stack to pass trough Germany.
Palace is not complete pre-build yet, probably 300 shields. When trading lit make sure all other wonders are build.

Before I forget will be on holiday next week, can play until friday. So If TheRat can play before that I can play, or we might swap.

going to run out of money soon, but even with 0% science, we have a negative gpt
next turn we get a lux finally

reduce lux to 20%, but it doesn't help that much
found Der to claim the whale and fish in the south

ok, desperate measures are needed (we need roughly 400gold for the 7 remaining turns)
employ a lot of taxmen and to a deal for cash with Germany
But get CoL for 29gpt and get quite a few techs for the exchange of CoL
(IW, HBR, Mysticism, philo, MM)
end up having 294gold, running a lot of scientists to get lit in 7 at -36gpt

We may take a risk and boot Egypt, I think.
But better to borrow money from germans. May be trade route will appear and we trade Ivory.
I think all may build Libs, even some Cities may poprush it. Good to build road to Inca to trade second Ivory.

I am not quite sure what you exactly mean. I tried to keep us afloat with positive cash.
You are aware that you need to have a positive gpt, else the AI won't give you anything as they know you are broke. So, I did the slightly cheesy thing of artificially employing many taxmen, get that German tech deal done. That got us enough cash to complete literature.
I don't know how on earth we can borrow more money when we run -34gpt even at 0% science. Is there a mechanism I am not aware of?

I thought it is not that bad. But if you put Sci and Lux to 0% and hire some Taxmen gpt might be positive. But well, with -29 gpt for CoL it may be really limit.

So we have to make a decision to war or not to war?
I prefer "to stay". First we have to have Libs, Kish after FP, and in Ur and Sumer as well. Next turn we may borrow money and continue research at max to Republic. We have no room to settle, may be at our NE. Warrior to coast, horse to help.

To bad about GLib, in hindsigth a good trade for CoL.
We need few more units before we can start war. Could get libs in core, some horse elsewere, then boot if they are still around.
Think we need 10 horses or so to be relatively save, if we can get Germany to join. Will wait for Ignas opinion.
You can't borrow money if at 100% tax and stil run negative gpt.

Previous Game showed, that MA in Sid terribly expensive.

I think that Horses vs Pickmens and Musketers is difficult. I think in proper set we can get scince OK.
