Simple questions, simple answers

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy. In my game (on the PC/Steam version of the game), my "reveals iron on the map" is at Bronze Working. However, on my brothers game (we started using the same "turn 0" save game file), his iron is at Iron Working, along with Swords. !?

He still has G&K, you've got BNW. If he upgrades, Iron will be in Bronze Working.

Edit: Some folks (like me) had to reboot Steam to actually make it see the upgrade to BNW. If he did buy BNW, try that, see if it patches.

You say that after playing one game? I really hope this isn't true or Liberty is a dead tree.

By the way, in every lets play I've seen so far, tech costs increased by 3% for each city (not 5%). Maybe different game settings?

I played 3 different games and found my empire bankrupt very fast.

trade routes and roads do not generate enough gold..even with market to
support 3 mains cities and an army.

I am not sure but did they add costs to maint of tile improvements?
If so that may be why this is an issue.

1- How long do trades routes last?
2- Exactly how does a trade route get destroyed by a barb or rival?
3- How do I get more delegates?
4- When is it wise to swap Great Works? Should one swap Great Works?
5- One has to choose either selecting a social policy or ideological tenet?
6- Morocco received 2 delegates for World Wonders, yet I easily have more World Wonders than al-Mansur. Why is this?

I'm afraid not all of my questions are simple but it seems like a great thread to post them.

1) what is the exact amount of :c5goldenage: pracinhas generate in battle? In one thread I saw a number 100, but the manual also says that the amount is doubled in foreign lands, so I'm not sure is this 50/100 or 100/200 (in your lands/in foreign ones) or something else

2) can Venice buy tiles in puppets?

3) the siege tower has "extra sight 1" promotion while the catapult has "sight penalty" promotion. The question is, do the ST keep their promotion after upgrade? Trebuchets with sight =3 would be great

4) how exactly does ikanda works? As far as I understood it's:
-build an ikanda
-build a unit in that city
-upon being built the unit has a unique promotion amongst the standart ones (like shock and drill). Is this randomly one of the three or always, say, buffalo chest?
-if you choose a unique one, at the next promotion you can choose amongst insta-heal, shock1, drill1 and another unique (again, random one or a determined one?)
Am I right?

5) does the zulu unique promotions and army maintenance reduction works on gunpowder (melee) units or only pre-renaissance ones?

6) their is not a single word in civilopedia nor manual about kasbah having defensive bonus. But it is here, right?

7) from manual: "<chateau> gains +1 culture and +2 gold upon researching Flight, as well as the +50% defense bonus on the improved tile". Does it mean it has a defence bonus only after Flight? Where is a logic in that? Or is it just a bad wording?

8) what is exact Shoshone friendly territory :c5strength: bonus in% ?

9) comanche riders. 25 :c5production: cheaper and +1 :c5moves: promotion (so it can be saved after upgrading). Is that really all? If true, that sucks. Maybe that promotion leads to high-level ones like blitz or charge quicker or something else?

My sincere thanks if somebody can answer those questions!

I have a very quick and short question: Which civ owns Casablance which number is it in the founding order? Thanks in advance! :-)

2) No.

1. 30 turns
2. The trade unit moves on the map and can be attacked like any civilian unit.
3. a) Be the Congress leader. b) Allied city states (from Industrial onward) c) have the World Religion/Ideology d) build the Forbidden Palace e) be in the World Leader vote where no one gets enough votes
4. Generally, yes. Wonders that have multiple slots give bonus culture and tourism if you have a certain combination of Great Works in them, and often that means Works from multiple civs.
5. Yes.
6. See 3d. The Forbidden Palace is the only Wonder that gives bonus delegates.

1) 30 turns
2) The trade unit moves back and forth between the two cities, pillaging the unit breaks the trade route. I believe it's 100g for players pillaging, barbs gain 1 extra unit from it. I've seen them get Galleas from sea routes and Knight from land routes, so I think it's tech based.
3) Forbidden palace (Patronage opener wonder), city states (once the World Congress is in industrial+), some proposals from world congress (for example world ideology/religion gives bonus delegates to followers of that ideology/religion), hosting the world congress, a few others. Delegates go up as the world congress goes up in eras (especially city state ones, they start with 0 but gain more delegates over time). The world congress advances an era when half the world has entered that era or if at least one civ has entered the next era ahead of it. So for example, world congress enters industrial if one civ has hit modern, regardless of the eras anyone else is in. City states vote as their ally does.
4) Early on I move them around to give border push as needed. Culture buildings are very weak by default now. Expect +1 from most of the standard ones that used to give more culture. Moving the great works you have from city to city to push borders early on helps. Later on if you're going for culture you'll likely have some wonders/special buildings that take multiple works and give a theme bonus, at which point you'll want to maximize your theme bonuses.
5) Yes. Policies do seem to come faster than before though. For ideologies, the earlier you adopt one, the more freebies you get. If you're the first to adopt an ideology, you get 2 free tenets, if you're second you get 1, third and past that 0.

I can't answer most of these, but I'll do what I can.

7: Bad wording. The civilopedia specifically says that the Chateaus have their 50% fort bonus as part of their base kit.

8: 15%, same as Himeji Castle.

9: The +1 movement promotion is a unique one called "Full Moon Striker," so it's unlikely that it would fit neatly into the standard promotion trees. On the other hand, that means that it should also be able to stack with the normal +1 movement, which means that the Shoshone could field some frighteningly fast raiders.

My iron doesnt reveal at bronze either.

After doing some tests, it turns out you cannot buy a city state and make them a puppet in "1 city challenge", which I had set as on.

I'd think this is a bug? You can still have puppets in 1 city challenge, so why not be able to use the merchant ability to buy one?

I suppose Venice was viewed as overpowered in 1cc?

Are you sure about that? I thought that you cannot puppet in 1 city challenge - you immediately raze any cities you conquer. In fact few posts ago I made a guess that you were playing in 1 city challenge mode, hence your inability to puppet.

You cannot puppet in OCC. Any city (including anotherr capital or a CS) you conquer or take in a peace settlement is insta-destroyed (Poof! Gone! Nothing but ruins left behind). Austria can't do diplomatic marriage in OCC, so it makes sense that you aren't permitted to side-step OCC restrictions with a MoV.

I haven't managed to get BNW installed yet, but I'm curious: can you still assign artist specialists to ampitheater, opera house, etc.? The wording in the manual makes it sound like only the Artists' Guild can take artist specialists now.

My brother *is* running BNW; he is playing as Shaka (Zulu), which he could not be doing did he not have the expansion. We loaded the same initial (turn 0) save game file (from the game he started and saved on his Mac in Steam) - he on his Mac and me on my PC. We are playing two "parallel" single-player games to get two different experiences. I guess they are different indeed; I got iron revealed with Bronze-working, and he with Iron-working. Interesting...
Possibly telling is that while I was able to load his save-game (generated on a Mac), he was unable to load mine (generated on a Windows 7 PC).

man... I'm on a mac too. Guess thats a simple answer for a simple question: iron on osx comes at iron working.

Correct. There are now three types of culture specialists--artist, musician, and writer--and they are locked to their respective guilds, which are considered national wonders, and therefore unique. You can have two of each, so six total. The old specialist slots from the amphitheater, opera house, and museum have been replaced with great work slots--culture gain has been cut down drastically, but policy prices have been slashed to match. Border expansion, however, will remain very slow if you don't move your great works around.
