simple_01 Is This Monkey Craaaazy??

What a great slugfest to finish this one off! I was just thinking that even if she was behind in techs that Isabella had had nothing to do for centuries but build units. Didn't change a thing in the end, though, did it? I'm sorta surprised we didn't hit domination limit, since we were so close already. I'm really happy with the way this one played out, guys.

I agree totally with Andronicus that we had the momentum in this game as soon as we got our continent to ourselves, but that it took some playing right on the edge to get there. Also, taking and holding Beach Head meant that Pink Dude was never gonna stop us.

Thanks again to a fantastic team. :worship: It's been a privilege playing with each of you.

Any doubt that I'm pondering simple_02?

I've had this crazy idea of 5CC AW cultural (20k obviously) - I remember reading a SG (3CC) playing PTW where leaders could be used to rush those wonders, how much harder would it be in C3C?
This variant requires competing requirements of developing 20k city ASAP, devoting sufficient to military to survive and avoid pillaging of 20k city and researching at fast enough rate with 5CC + AW so that can build culture wonders before AI.
I played an attempt at this with Egypt on monarch with 3 cities and was doing well with 20k city but got run over by masses of cavs that I was unable to hold off whilst waiting for victory date to arrive. I played pangea and a "loose" 3 city ( I allowed myself to build a settler and settle a city, build army, then abandon within same turn). Without an army I would have perished much earlier.

Hmmm. Interesting idea. :hmm: That would take some playing. I've been considering a minor variant that could work with this one. Instead of AW, perhaps playing as a grudge-holder. You don't have to be at war with anyone (or we could change it to always having to be at war with someone, just not everyone), but once you do go to war, you can't sign a peace treaty and must wipe out that civ. Combining that with the pressure of a 20k victory soulnds like it would be crazy tough. And doing it playing C3C where you can't use military leaders to rush is insaaaaane!

Anyone have further thoughts?

Sounds a little tough if you do it on Deity again.

I just loaded the end save and watched the replay. We were already on top of the game before we set foot on the Inca continent. We were on top by the time the Russians started to cave in, really. The rest was just an inevitable steamroller, though it was very gratifying to watch just how quickly Pink Boy folded under pressure.

Oh, and it was the Koreans after all who denied us the pleasure of dispatching the Hittites. Ah well, perhaps another time.

Then again, maybe not.

Nice going fellas. Very enjoyable!
