Sirius Intra-Team Pitboss Game!

So, me and hell hound team together for this one?

Alright, 2 of the worst leaders, worst UUs and worst UBs put together... nice.

Oh well, it's when the game becomes tough that the toughs start play

Feel free to correct the above with the right english saying.

Fine don't play with me...

Just thought, as this is a game for fun and training:
A defeated player can join the team who defeated him.
What do you think about?

BLubmuz, I also note your own original picks were a bit dubious, so I don't quite know where your rant came from.

Anyway, not many choices left: Frederick and Gilgamesh
This is definitely not a "useful" UU/UB on the side of Frederick; and the Protective trait is not usually considered that "useful" in multiplayer.

Not that I'm criticising you, but it just seems a bit unfair for you to criticise hell_hound's choices considering your own would-be picks. :)

Sounds fine to me, although what happens if there are already 2 civs on that team (and/or 2 civs on the defeated team)?

I created 10 starts and checked the general layout. It appears with this many teams the game can't handle guaranteeing the team members are even on the same continent, much less close. I filtered out the ones with 1-2 civs on unreachable islands, and made some very minor edits to a couple of the keepers. Then I rolled some random numbers and picked one of the maps that way.

The civs should show on the login page in the order listed in LP's post.

In that case they could just go back into the regular pool and get picked up by the teams with only one player. If they want to keep going after being defeated that is.

Okay, cool. What kind of minor edits, by the way? Adding resources, switching start locations, ...? Just curious.

Sweet! Although I'm getting the same error as hell_hound with the game files not matching the host (nor matching player 5). The game hangs on "finishing".

Okay, fair point. That'd work I guess.

Actually... seems to have sorted itself. Still getting the "game files different to host" error, but the game loads up fine now. :)

Did it eventually let you in, or remained stuck? The control window shows username changed, so at least it got somewhere.

I changed a modified file back, see if it works now.

Okay, no more "game files different to host" errors now. I presume Dave just tweaked something.

Will this game be up on Civstats soon? :)

I choosed those Leaders by memory, not many were left.

But in my previous post i was just jocking (even if i'm convinced i was right).
Anyway, it's a test game, it doesn't matter much.

BTW Gigamesh can be protective, but his UU is one of the strongest and pretty good is the low-cost CH.
Fred has a useless UU, his UB is useful only on a space race, but he has great traits.

I was forgetting:
what have i to do to start play this one?
In detail, please.

Did i told you i'm a newbie?

I recommend naming your leaders differently so we can tell them apart. That will take some getting used to.
Is there any real need for this? Colour alone should allow you to tell them apart, let alone civ name. But I've given my two civs unique names anyway. :)

My starts. Builds/techs are not guaranteed to stay the same, but likely assuming we have peace to 1 AD. (I don't want anyone trying to run a Warrior into my cities in the first 10 turns just because I've been open about this. Otherwise, I'll go Warriors first. ;) )

In essence, quite nice: both plains-hill starts, one with flood plains and gold, the other with marble and plenty of forests.

Actually, on a more careful glance, my starts aren't as shiny as they might seem. I lack rather severely in terms of food, only having a single plains Cow as my "food resource" for both cities (which is not really a food resource at all). This means I'll have to waste several valuable riverside tiles on farms instead of cottages, which is a shame being double Financial.

Ethiopia is an awesome civ. I don't know what you're on about with the Oromo Warrior being a bad UU. Those free double Drill promotions are passed on to all units they upgrade to as well, you know. ;)

And Napoleon has a very decent trait combination, even though the UU and UB might not be optimal.
By the time the Ethiopian UU comes in play i'm usually in a peaceful mode. The most of my wars are fought with maces and knights, or even chariots and... chariots. Rarely i use GP units to fight... well in some time game i use marines vs longbows, but this is not a true fight.

Nap? Once he was Aggressive and industrious (now Stalin is) and i used to like him.
BTW if you play with Nap as an opponent AI you will notice that he only changed the traits, not the way he "plays". He's still aggressive, a first class backstabber.
But now the only good trait is organized, i don't find Char that great, his UB comes late and the UU is only good to protect mounted unit, hoping it never see a fight.

Charismatic is a great trait. I would have picked Hannibal if not for Ragnar for one of my civs.

Wouls anyone be so kind to tell me how can i start this?

- Open BtS
- choose MP games
- then?
