Site Funding

I hope this is not too personal, but was wondering where this site gets it's funding to host such a massive site? It's great with a lot of people, i'm just curious. Are you affiliatied with the civ developers in any way?

TF gets free hosting from Telefragged which is why we get the adverts although at least they are good at fixing the forum when it goes down. Then I believe you have to pay to get VB or something similar and that may well be $100 or there abouts.

Come on if you go to this site it has an advertizment for Rise of Nations. I am sure that they get lots of money from those advetizments and also look at the bottom of the screen there is an advertizment there to.

I never see ads here so as far as I know TF must have a tree that produces money instead of fruit.

I would venture to say that most, if not all, of the money generated by the ads here goes to Telefragged, which is why they can afford to let Thunderfall have free hosting available.

No, I had just never went down to the bottom of the page, so I had never seem them . . .

Well, I have gone down to the bottom of the page once, and that is enough for me!!! And does that one little advertising space really supply enough income t0o run the whole site?

Thunderfall said to me once that he does earn a bit of money from the links to Amazon.com on the front page (to buy Civ3 or an expansion). But he also said that for the amount of time CFC takes he'd earn more at McDonald's.

I bet, all those spammers - I mean - poster, of course, that need to be dealt with . . . He could always shift duties around - I would be more then happy to take over banning or blocking people for instance . . .
