Religious War Part Three
After a month of fighting, the four factions finally had a lull in fighting and a rudimentary map was drawn of generalized borders.

But then, the fighting picked up again.
Forn Sidr, now in control of nearly three quarters of the navy, attacked the Catholics((Light Blue)) who were led by Brenin Julio.

Julio Brenin sat in his castle as the long ships of Araullt landed troops and began to act like the Norse raiders. Raids were conducted all along the Catholic coastline and still Julio sat in his castle. So, Araullt sent troops further inland to draw Julio out of his castle. Eventually, this tactic succeeded when Julio became aggravated by all the complaints of "Brythonian raiders". Julio came out of his castle with his forces and Araullt ambushed his army when it neared the coast.

During this time, Brenin Pysgod attacked the Druids. After several days of fighting, both sides had beaten their borders to a pulp. Eventually though, the Druids began to give ground to the onslaught.

OOC: If you look at your diplomacy, Sniped, you will see a hilarious trend that makes as much sense as the Papal diplomacy... Which is laughable at best. You do whatever the pope does, but with a different voice, hahaha.

A Brief History of Castile Part Three
The Passing of the Sultan
760 A.D. - 851 A.D.

The Story

Ubair Mikaeel al-Rashied was born on 14 August 760 A.D. in Burgos, the Holy Capital of Castile. Thrust upon the throne at the young age of 21, Ubair had the difficult task of converting the Religious Minorities and settling down Epir. The very first thing he did when he was appointed Sultan was to sign the Scroll of Castile.
The Scroll of Castile states that the Sultan will do everything for his people first, and then bring personal wishes next. Every Sultan has to sign this Scroll, and the Sultan has no power without signing it. It is made from the finest papyrus in the world. It is so sacred that the Sultan himself may only touch with the ink pen that he uses to sign it. Peasants aren’t even allowed to look at it. It is the most sacred piece of paper in Castile, behind the Quran.

Once a Sultan dies, his heir uses a special type of ink that washes away the signature of his predecessor. The Sultan then signs the scroll himself, says the oath of Sultans, and never sees the Scroll again.
One man managed to paint a copy of the Scroll of Castile, and is kept in the Castilian Museum.

Ubair managed to convert the minorities after 20 years, and only 10% of the population follows another religion. Many acclaimed his success to his funding, but it was the control of Epir that also made the heathens believe that Islam is the true religion.
However Epir was short lived. A month after they annexed the land, Byzantines army swept the land and without an army to defend, Epir was lost within a week. Ubair was angry, but blamed himself. He then got his finest troops and formed the Royal Castilian Swordsman, an elite type of infantry capable of over-taking even mounted units.

Ubair died of old age, his age being 91 years old, the second oldest man in the history of Castile. The oldest was Muhammed Sheik, who lived until 92 years. Ubair was buried in Rankton, the same place as his father. Aqeel Ubair al-Rashied is his heir.

OOC: Long story short, after potential destruction of Europe and everyone's sanity, the Castilians appear to have backed off after the Holy Roman Empire was formed, and that Empire is a combination of the Papal States, Venice, Naples, Aquitaine, and the Franks.

Temporary fortifications
The Venetians borrowed their construction style from the Romans, although in their military they employed different tactics, especially their fortifications. When the Venetians needed to quickly defend an area of land, they would start by digging a trench 5 to 10 feet deep depending how large the wall was planned to be (larger wall=deeper support trench). Then, the soldiers would cut down local trees 10 or so feet high or bring them in with boats, and put them in place vertically on both sides of the trench. Then, the trench would be filled in with dirt and stones up to five feet from the top with the dirt from the original trench plus two or three trenches plus various holes on the attacker's side. Using ladders to get around, the soldiers would then compact the dirt and stones in the wall, followed by making sure there were slits in the wall te archers could use to fire from. Finally, in each of the trenches and holes on the attacker's side, they would make traps and pitfalls with older trees and sharpened branches, along with making obstructions around the wall. If the enemy manages to reach the wall, the archers will focus their fire and annihilate the enemy. These walls were effective when defending borders or cities, and could be made in days with the right resources, at most 2 months if the resources needed to be shipped in.
