The Final Word of the Tagrabunti
Armenia's word was still untrusted, despite the Tagrabunti's long removal from the throne. King Faraz would do something to change that. He decided extreme measures would be necessary. So he sent the order.
The Tagrabunti may have lost its royal power, but it was still wealthy and feared. More than a dozen of the remaining family members still resided in their ancestral clan house located in Baku, Azerbaijan. But one day soldiers stormed in. The family members were grabbed and thrown into chains. They were then shipped to Yerevan.
Accused of treason, all members of the Tagrabunti dynasty were gathered up from around the kingdom, and sent to the Royal Palace at Yerevan. There, they were accused of working with traitors to the throne, and following heresies against God's will. They were all sentenced with execution. The men and women were simply beheaded. Young boys were tied to four horses who would all be sent in different directions, tearing the youths into quarters. Young girls were burnt alive, and babes were thrown in the nearby river and drowned. The man overseeing this whole sordid affair was the marshal, Vordin atelut'Yan. And he laughed. But this was not all Faraz would do, to change Armenia's reputation.
