Per Marbozir if you integrate the city into your empire the bonus you select still remains until the end of the current age.
Considering that IPs disappear on age transition, then there is no negative to integrating (and if you integrate then they likely won't disappear now), besides I guess having a settlement you didn't pick the location for.

Trade routes:

Interesting - timestamp where he discusses it - this screen just pans you over to the city where you then can move your merchant (just like any other unit). Once the merchant is physically there you can start the trade route.

You can also just free move your merchant to basically explore and make trade routes of opportunity. Plus merchants don't need open borders to move within another empire's borders.

White line is the potential trade route...route.

EDIT: Merchant unit action to create trade route:

Immediately creates route and obtains resources.

The leader Agenda looks like it will not, in fact, completely dictate a leader's interactions with you. Also, diplomatic impacts from government, not just ideologies.

Where were the Meiji and Prussian icons found
If you're talking to me: There was a screenshot in another thread with both in the upper right below the leaderheads. But I actually made the Meiji icon several days ago... that Imperial chrysanthemum icon is the pretty obvious choice for Meiji.
