Small Observations General Thread (things not worth separate threads)

Babylon was a city state before becoming a Civ in 6 so it’s still ok

Also it’s in the exploration age, which is interesting for a number of reasons: it wasn’t named Istanbul then. Is there also going to be a Constantinople of the Byzantines? Will the Ottomans not be a full civ in the modern era? If so there’s going to be a really dearth of middle eastern options then.

It took like a million years.
Well the Goths were in Boesthesius’s video (I think) and Mausoleum of Theodoric implies they’re likely going to be added, soon, no? I feel like the IP’s aren’t necessarily a death sentence for civs.

Yes this is a bigger concern for me. Would seem crazy not to let Rome -> Byzantium -> Ottoman play out across the ages like it ought to.

LMAO Marbozir called this crisis a "nothingburger" as he had so many resources the happiness hits did nothing to him.

Disappointing. I was really looking forward to renaming cities based on the languages of the civs I'm swapping into. When the devs went Normans to America in the Modern Era, I imagined myself renaming Rouen to "Rowansville" or something.

However, if I remember correctly, VI didn't have it as an option at launch either, but it was added in a patch not long after. Fingers crossed, though I wonder why the launch version has had to miss that feature two games in a row now.
I've made a petition on reddit here, for whatever its worth.
Doubt it will go anywhere.

Also, Kokand is a city in the real world. Just call the village Kokand as well.

You'd think they'd go for someone like the Seljuks if that was the case. I guess there's always the possibility since they are IP they can change, even ages?:dunno:
Because based off the timeline you would think the Ottomans are the best candidate for the Modern Age in the Middle East.

I’m going to label this sort of crisis a “penalty” crisis, and to me they are incredibly uninteresting. Give me something physical on the map that does something rather than this sort of thing.

Huh, per Marbozir in an Age transition ALL of your cities except your capital revert to towns. I've been trying to figure out the scope of that since I first saw this legacy option:

Russia most OP Modern Civ in the game confirmed.

Good lord @ how badly this undercuts Kong's ability which is based on having Cities over towns. Not going Econ Legacy as Kong is like playing with a handicap.

It does look like if you've not been careful with your happiness management during the age this crisis in particular might result in large swathes of your empire rebelling.

I will say after watching several of these videos...Resource management fatigue will be a real thing. They smoothed out a bunch of rough edges for so many systems but this new system introduced a whole bunch of new clicks and shuffling of things. I think the screen needs condensing, some more shortcut buttons need to be added (i.e. "Unslot all" and "Auto slot remaining") and allow swapping of resources WITHOUT dragging the icons. @B0RDERL1NE I hope y'all are open to some more feedback on this as it looks like this could get tedious over time.
