[R&F] Small things you have noticed on playing

I think its a percent chance to trigger when certain events happen. I had one in my first game when i took a capital, but only the second time.

I haven't got much of emergencies but I see notifications that enemy AI civ became a target of emergency twice. There is also notification if the target was successful in emergency. Enemy Chandragupta won the emergencies twice in my game.

Apparently, spies can now recruit partisans even if they are not at war with target civ... (learned this the hard way... now I keep my mbanzas in a cluster instead of just building them haphazardly)... when you tech so much without an army because you have all your neighbors allied... fortunately, there's always heathen conversion.

Well I meant how did Kongo get a Missionary.
Kongo can get shrines and temples if they conquer a city with a holy site and a theatre square (holy sites will poof, but their buildings will be moved inside a theatre square... if no square, the holy sites and buildings just disappear). If they have a city with a shrine, they can buy missionaries normally.

Hey, help me out here, guys.

In my previous games, I was getting era points for unlocking boosts in the ancient era. Now, I'm in a game as India and the only things in my history book are points for goody huts, encampments, and natural wonders. Anyone know what gives?
World wonders are +4 each... GP are 1 each. Building a district with +4 or more adjacency gives...

I doubt that's one of the things they intended to fix. They seem to deliberately obscure most information about timed actions like that - for instance there's no way of identifying when you made a promise to someone and so when it will expire, and duration isn't shown for alliances, friendships or denunciations.

If you go to the alliance tab in diplomacy with the person you have an alliance with, it shows how many turns are left in the alliance.

This was always the case. I've used it as a tactic against Civs that denounce me to ensure they've got their hands too full to wage a full-fledged war.

Has anyone else got an industrial golden age as Korea and taken the heartbeat of steam dedication?

As if the seowon wasn't powerful enough. Add on a production bonus equal to the campus adjacency, plus natural philosophy youve got plus 8 production most likely in the majority of your cities, seems extremely powerful.

So, I'm friends with five civ's, and none want to form an alliance. Can't even bribe them with gold or resources.

Anybody else running into this?

You need to click on the alliance icon and specify the type of alliance. Otherwise they will not accept the deal.

This constitutes a circumnavigation:

You can pillage markets and lighthouses to deprive your enemy of trade route slots.

Also I all my games now properly close when I exit the game. No more Ctrl+Alt+Del for me!
It crashes for me all the time on exit since the RF patch (vanilla, dont have the expansion yet). A difference is that it used to freeze sometimes, and now it crashes with a dialog asking me to send report to Firaxis.

I love moments like that. Wish they happened more often. I don't think the ai even thanks you for liberating a city. In fact, they tend to tell you to take a hike.

Yeah, it was kind of cool. The AI seemed to show a bit of personality there. :)

The AI thanking you for non-agenda related actions would help so much with making them feel less bland, as long as it doesn't happen so often as to be annoying. Things like clearing barb camps, denouncing a shared enemy, etc. That plus some sort of scaling likelihood of accepting joint wars, where it costs much more to get them the AI to agree to joint war someone they're on good terms with, would go a long way towards making the AI feel better even if its gameplay is lackluster.

Really anything to make them seem like functional beings with opinions beyond "you have a religion and have not spread it to me, how dare you."
At least something like "you have a religion and have not spread it to me, how dare you! ...but thank you for denouncing Brazil."

Here's my first impressions after playing about 100 turns:

I generally like the new features so far
  • I found the governors to be really useful. I had a chance to place 4 of them and a few with upgrades. Magnus might be a little game-breaking.
  • The eras are fun but I've basically been in perma golden age so on first play it seems like it might be a bit too easy to stay on top if you're aggressive - ages might overly favor the human player
  • The historical notes with era points are a nice touch
  • Carthage is nerfed  This may have happened in a prior patch - I can't say I'm surprised but I will miss their bonus
  • I had some trouble with the loyalty system at first. I captured the Greek capital early and it revolted twice which forced me to brush up on the mechanics more - I haven't flipped any cities to my side yet
  • Mapuche seem middle tier-ish, but probably very well suited for cultural victory. I had civs surrounding me on all sides so I went for a more domination style game
  • The game still seems very easy - they really need to make some more AI adjustments. I only played King but it felt more like Warlord - I had no trouble capturing early cities with just archers and warriors. And with horsemen it's a cake walk. My start didn't seem all that great but I had very few barbs so that helped. It will take some more openings to gauge the difficulty.
  • Found a pink lake natural wonder and a few new resources - seems like there's a lot of new content so far.
  • Stonehenge wasn't completed until turn 65 :eek2: I avoided religion but ended up founding one close to turn 100. Not sure if I'll tinker with it or not in the first game. The religious units looked different than when I last played. Only the Cree had a religion on my continent so maybe the AI isn't as religion focused now (fingers crossed).
The game is definitely easier. I’m up to Emperor level now.
