Keep in mind that they trolled us with Canada. We were confident it was Sweden.

"Suleiman leads the Ottomans in Sid Meiers Civilization 6: Gathering Storm.

He was known to have a large collection of books he loved to keep in the dark, giving its palace a nordic and scandinavian vibs for no reason. "

So if not for the leak, what would we be guessing? George Washington (who had a globe in Civ V)? Portugal?
If not for the leak, they would probably be giving us better hints. But since the whole expansion has been spoilered they're doing the teasers on hard mode to keep it interesting for everyone since we already have the cheat sheet.

I wouldn't put any thought into it being "dark". This is part of the background image of the leader shot, and the bookcase behind the globe is clearly lit, so the globe could simply be in a shadow.

Portugal or Italy. But in case of Italy, the Hall of Maps in the Palazzo Vecchio would be better suited than any library - it‘s one of the most interesting rooms in the world imho (and Features a huge globe).

I will be genuinely surprised and thoroughly disappointed if it turns out it's actually the Ottomans

Excuse me.
I feel only trolled with Mali. They made me overthink the hint. This one and this "IKEA tool" (sorry I don't know English word) during Mali stream is rather straight forward.

You know the "globe" will turn to be a cannonball, so Ottomans.

:P (just to keep tradition of being wrong with the sneak peeks. Books, Book-holding leaked Concept Art, and the Allen Key make it kind of obvious this week)

I welcome my people's "brethren people," the Swedes. Now imagine if the madmen- and women at Firaxis were to put the Danes in a hypothetical third expansion...

Also, I may very well be tempted to let Christina become one of my favourite leaders if they've given her a nerdy/dorky personality.

Would we be getting these clues if the list hadn't been leaked?

On a side note: is it me, or is this sneak peak generated pretty much less enthusiasm than the previous ones ?
It's an obvious hint, for the twentieth Euro-based civ this expansion, that happens to be a semi-polarizing leader, for what would already be one of the least exciting civs that could return from V.

Anyone who isn't excited knows to keep their mouth shut, and the people who are excited don't really have much room left for discussion.

So, tomorrow we may be seeing Oxenstierna making his long overdue civ debut as the unique governor. I‘m really curious what he‘s going to do differently and if he is specialized in any way or an all-rounder.

A cannonball that size would crush any wooden holder - it would weigh over 100 pounds. Nope, it's a globe, which pretty much indicates a Renaissance or later leader.
The library of books also require a Printing Press: before the press, a 'scholar' in Europe was anyone with more than 20 books!

That, in turn, leaves out Suleiman: the first printed book in Constantinople was in 1493, and it was an Armenian Grammar, and the only books printed in the Ottoman Empire for the next 250 or so years were Christian psalters and such: the first printed book in Arabic wasn't until 1729!

So, by default, due to the Leak, Sweden/Kristina is the only candidate that fits.

Unless, of course, those aren't books but Folio-Bound papyrus ledgers and the globe is from Ptolemy's studies in the Great Library and a reference to the Phoenician captain who sailed around Africa for the Pharaoh and so it's all about Phoenicia. . .

But even I think that's a stretch.
