Well I don't think running from them is the proper course of action.

People should plan human shields to keep them invisible from the funeral. Silent, but a nice show of support, I believe.

It's not as much running as it is moving to a different part of the courtyard when you are eating lunch and someone sits beside you, won't leave, and smells bad. The WBC has the right to protest whatever it wants, but the people that they are protesting aren't required to hear or see them.

Me personally, I don't believe anyone has a right to not be offended.

I believe that any group, however odious, has the right to be public about their views, but don't necessarily have the right to have access to their intended audience.

I once encouraged Christians to support gay marriage if only for the sake of saving face and further marginalizing the WBC. I added that such groups might eventually fade out of existence if gay marriage was allowed because it would lead to a more tolerant public atmosphere in society. Needless to say, almost everyone I talked with rejected the idea. You can lead a horse to water...

Good question. Hardly any of them seemed to be bothered by this blatant homophibia in the least until the WBC started protesting at military funerals. Many of the people who claim to be so offended by this even support DADT and are very homophobic themselves.
