I recently had a get together with some frinds of mine and one of them made a cake for tea, it was pretty good. she brought it here on a plate as well as some other home made pastries, which were in glad plastic containers. so we ate the cake, etc, everyone left, however I am still left with the plate and te plastic containers. it is obvius she didn't want to -give- them to me but I would think calling her and asking her "hey do you want your plate and plastic containers back" would be kinda rude in a way.

what is the best thing I should do? Just forget about it and take the plate and the container for myself or somehow try to give it back to her? as you can see I want to proceede as politely as possiblle; i dont know this girl very well so i dont want to do anything to piss her off, if this was one of my closer friends it would be different..

and this plate looks decent and made of glass, and the containers are sturdy and strong, so they are not just disposable things..

It's pleasant and gets rid of the things all at once.

The problem here is you making a big story out of nothing.
How can you possibly think that she could be pissed if you ask her if she wants it back?
Imagine her saying " that guy is such an idiot, he asked me if I wanted my plate by, what a looser".
Don't you think it doesn't make sense?

Return them without asking. You obviously aren't supposed to keep them and if you put in the effort to get them to her it shows that you're polite.
