Sons of Mars III - Trollish Echidnas Not Included

Germany has a message for everyone:

Except France isn't the successor government to Greece.

My government is on a party sub somewhere in the Black Sea laughing its ass off.

Can someone explain what's even going on?

Can someone explain what's even going on?

Rome was wiped out. They sent out 16 bioweapons against France+allies. Greece sent out 43 bioweapons against Angola, Tibet, Gangia, and some other nation. Tibet bombed Greece heavily.

Tens of millions are dead.

lurker's comment: The leader of Jerusalem is well, I don't need to explain and the French control the Greeks who just biobombed four superpowers. Whoever controls the Greeks is in a bad situation.

What did I do again?

Wait a minute. Angola. Why are you demanding reparations from the France and Jerusalem? I'm not seeing the train of thought here.

OOC: It's more like the GH demanding tribute from some tiny Russian minor so we don't invade. :p

Except, of course, France is still nominally an ally of OV and Jerusalem, due to the terms of the peace treaty that ended the war between them and Greece, is somewhat under our protection. ;)

The Initiate Suit, despite the aesthetics, was surprisingly comfortable Aidan found out. He felt safer wearing as well. The C3s in Camp Spirit eyed him with eyes full of renewed hatred. Unlike the guards, the C3s were dying by the grinder room full. Power and heating across OV would see a drastic increase soon as crops of humans for the Bioreactors died. Orders came just a few days after the bioweapons struck that the camps were to take care of any infected C3s.

Someone coughed. Aidan turned around and saw a group of six or seven men. They knew he saw them. "Who coughed?" Aidan asked.

One man, a dirty blond-haired man, looked for at his comrades for support and said, "I didn't hear a cough." The man tried to look through the dark goggles of the suit, but couldn't. Aidan could see him perfectly and sent a message over the psychic network. Soon, he had a backup of three Initiates. "I'm going to ask again, who coughed?"

A crowd started gathering and the confrontation. Aidan doubted the crowd would do much more than that and jeers. All of a sudden, the Gattling Cannons on the towers looked....welcoming.

No one answered. "All of you, come with us an-"

"It was him!" A middle-aged Sumatran poked at the dirty blond. "Take HIM away!"

Aidan smiled. "Take him away Susilo." Susilo did, as did the other soldiers. As if the Sumatran had the filthiest and vilest of disease, the group and the camp population melted away from him nearly instantly. He noticed this and went up to Aidan. "Hey, buddy, I can turn in others if you need me to if you just take me out of here!"

Promotion?

Aidan led the man to his office. After taking several names, Aidan shook hands with the man. "You have done OV a great duty today."

"Oh yes, yes!" The man chuckled nervously, "Sure did." The man looked ready to leave immediately.

"Why don't you cool your heels for a second? Please, sit down." The man sat at the chair in front of his desk. Aidan reached under the desk into the mini-fridge and grabbed himself and the man a beard and then took off his own suit's hood. "What's your name?"

"I go by Battata." The man chugged down the beer. Aidan suppressed a smile and slid another can to the man. They conversed half-heartily but the man drunk three cans to Aidan's quarter of a can. Aidan volunteered to drive the man to a hotel in the nearby town.

The car bounced along the paved road. Half way to town, Battata said he had to go to the bathroom. With a half-hearted groan, Aidan pulled over. As soon as the man stepped out of the car with his back turned, Aidan lifted his hand so his palm faced Battata's back. Battata turned around to say something he just thought of.

The red jewel on the palm of Aidan's glove was the last thing he felt intense heat and then nothing at all.

Aww, and here I was hoping for more of Europe to become a wasteland. :p

Ah well...

Only 12 gold though? That's... not much of a reparation.

Brasilao thanks the New Lunar Republic for the offer, but has just one thing to say:

Spoiler :
bring-it-on-fight-to-the-finish-soundtrack.jpg

It also reminds the Lunar Republic it could easily assemble enough PB weapons to utterly destroy the entire country. The Lunar Republic may be able to counter, but is MAD desirable...?

===

Jerusalem inherits Egypt, 3 Greek navies, and the 20 remaining Greek armies. The 20 armies make landfall in the Nile Delta, and are unable to be used for the rest of the turn due to loading/unloading this turn.

France inherits 10 provinces and 3 armies.

Mid-transit, some WMD cargo due for Jerusalem from Greece was ambushed. The weapons have been taken, but it is unknown where these weapons could have ended up...

Orders locking now. Update should be some time tonight.

I predict things'll REALLY heat up next turn, given with how many countries will likely have T2 PBs.

Dammit, I just realized I could have pissed even more people off by embargoing everyone who isn't my ally or in North America.

Meh.

Spoiler map :

sonsofmars3stats.png

The world has seen the end of conflict, but at a terrible price. In other parts of the world, once-peaceful regions are about to be shaken by the meatball of war falling into and staining their laps.

===Rule Changes===

Industry income has changed. Rather than it costing 10% of your ENTIRE income to grow by 1 point, it merely costs 10% of your base income. So, if you have 50 as your base income, yet 250 as your total income, investing all 250 gold will boost you by 50 points.

This change is meant to make Industry income more rewarding. Which will take away slightly from the arms race, pushing back how long until someone gets a T5 and just lets it rip. It also will help repair the economies completely destroyed by the recent WMD exchanges.

Trade has changed. All players now can only have up to 5 agreements. This is because I've got a nice spreadsheet set out, 5's a nice solid number, and you're all filthy rich already. (Or, you are if you have a fully-matured trade network :p)

All NPCs collect +25 by default as their trading income, regardless of size.

We can expect much faster updates this way, thanks to the spreadsheet's mass interlinkedness.

===Diplomatic Highlights===

-War over France and Rome reaches critical. Rome is cut off from the coastline by a flurry of One Vision and French province-buster weapons. Rome responds by launching genocide against the world's people with biological weapons. Germany is the hardest hit.

-Millions killed between the bombings and biological warfare. Gangia's being hit carries the most casualties.

-End of Sibero-Japanese War. A peace with Japan paying reparations was concluded.

-Nizhniy Novgorod has merged with Voronezh. Meanwhile, Petrograd assisted the new state in defeating Rostov. The three states are now united under a single Russian alliance, much to Moscow's fright.

-New Lunar Republic threatens Brasilao and demands Brazil be carved up into puppet states. Brazil tells NLR to bring it on.

===Events===

Spoiler :
Economic Cycle(every 5 turns; affects all nations by the same number -10-10)

Turns 5-8, being recessions, will have meager natural growth of 3%, rather than 5%. (An economic boom period, likewise, has annual growth of 7%)

Natural Disasters(Removes 1%-5% Industry) - 4 Affected

69 - 5 - Dar Es Salaam was hit by a tsunami
38 - 2 - Boers
41 - 2 - NJNY
9 - 4 - One Vision has been devestated by the war's bio-bombing.

Economic Busts - (Removes 1%-2% Industry) - 4 Affected

53 - 1
69 - 1 - DES is hit with a wave of recession post-tsunami as well.
4 - 2 - Denmark's economy has slowed down
86 - 2

Economic Booms(Adds 1% or 2% to Industry) - 4 Affected

56 - 1
48 - 1
21 - 2
82 - 1

Scientific Breakthrough - Occurs every 4 turns! (Exclusive to major powers)

N/A

Resource Discovery(Adds 1-5 Industry) - 4 Affected

8 - 2 - Persia
36 - 5
66 - 3
2 - 3 - Rome

Expansionism(+5 claims, given to 2 minor NPCs; means of mixing up geopolitics)

30 - Sahara
36 - Alaska

Ascendency - This event is special and happens whenever a minor NPC possesses 25 provinces. They gain the ability to expand on their own. The event is very rare, as most NPCs are 15 provinces or less and thus require a lot of luck to get it. Sahara has reached 25 provinces and has gained its own color.

Breakdown of costs - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=11079598&postcount=514

Pre-emptive FAQ: No, maxing out your research meter to 100 for a particular WMD reserach does not give it to you automatically. It merely guarantees you'll get it next turn.

Successful Programs

Partitionania, One Vision and the USSR have developed T2 PBs.

In total, 7 states have T2 PB technology now.

1 state has developed T3 PB technology.

1 state has developed T2 CW technology.

Province Busters

Tiny/T1 PBs cost five gold. Anybody with Military 2 can purchase.
.
T2 PBs can be built for 22 gold a piece. That is, the possibility to vaporise 3 provinces + 3 armies. Only 7 nations can build these this turn.

T3 PBs can be built for 60 gold by the nations with T3 tech.

Biological

T1 BW's cost five gold.

It costs 40 gold to build T2s, provided anyone has the tech.

Chemical

T1 CW's cost 5.

T2 CW's cost 40, if anyone has the tech.

===Revolts===

Spoiler :
Everyone has a 10% chance of a revolt.

How much of your realm will break away is your instability * 5, so instability 20 = every province attempts to break away. By contrast, instability 1(which human players are generally at) will only yield a mere 5% attempting.

15-33 = Someone incited 3 revolts in Persia. Auto-win since they were sponsored.
43-35 = Someone tried to incite a revolt in Persia.
30-72 = Someone tried to incite a revolt in Rome

No revolts in the major powers.
