Franco-Roman War
Today, a massive explosion rocked Strasbourg. Fortunately, no one was disturbed by it - they were all vaporised before they even knew it was happening.
It is the first recorded detonation of the "province buster" weapons in a war. The pro-Roman insurgency has claimed responsibility, demanding France sign a white peace with Rome or face another bombing.
As Rome had spent all its funds, it is unknown who gave the militants the weapon.
~130,000 people have been killed as a result of the bomb's detonation.
More concerning, the bomb took out one of the French forts. (And since only nations at peace can reposition/gain new forts...)
Alsace will be unclaimable until next turn.

France is left with only 19 armies, most of them stuck in the province they took. If Rome can reach France, it could turn the tide of the war.
Not really having anything to lose, the Roman army counterattacks. All forces descend upon a fort first.

Rome now pushes against a border province, unguarded by a fort.

Rome captures it.
With 23 armies, an attack on the French Swiss fort begins.

Rome celebrates! With 22 spare armies, the inevitable happens. 12 provinces fall with no fight.
That leaves 10 armies. They assault another French fort, this one leading into Iberia.

With the narrow 1.5 multiplier almost sealing defeat, the Romans take another fort.
4 provinces fall without a fight.
Rome leaves 4 armies spare to man the forts and defenses of Italy.
The result is Rome, at 32 provinces, 30 armies and 53 Industry, having infiltrated much of the French Empire. France, at 45 provinces, 38 Industry, and 19 armies, is also in a strong position.
The good news? Rome can now trade.
The bad news? It hasn't bothered to make partners. But it will have to - France's enormous trade revenues will outdo it. And Omega himself will have to cut the deals, since automated trade is a no no...
