850AD: Pre-turn. Looking good. I love the pillaging party. Pillaging the vikings is just great!
I'll turn up the wick on research a little. Gunpowder in 7 at -13gpt as Ted said seems reasonable to me.
I'd like to arrange a pillaging for for the Iroqs too. We'll see.
IBT:
Pisae worker - courthouse.
Ravenna knight - knight
Brundisium Pike - Pike
Add veranda to Palace.
860AD:
Lots of troops move into our territory. Not many in range of the cats. I bombard whatever I can.
There is a stack that I assume is intended for Centralia. But Centralia is size 1. I would rather let it grow b4 attacking it.
The stack of Viking MI near Byzantium are a real problem. I don't want to attack it but I am worried that they could take a hill.
Knight army against 4/4 MI wins but is heavily damaged.
4/4 MI against 3/4 MI wins.
4/4 knight against MI wins.
5/5 lmoght vs 3/3 archer wins
There is also a stack of Spanish horses between Ravenna and Lugdanum thet need some attention. Attacking is risky, but they could get into the core.
4/4 knight vs 3/3 horse wins
5/5 knight vs 3/3 horse wins
4/4 knight vs 3/3 horse wins
5/5 horse vs 3/3 horse wins. This is a mistake. Horse is left in the open and in range of another Spanish horse stack.
No other safe attacks possible. I am a little worried about Handyaugusta. Lots of troops around it with less protection than I wouls like.
IBT:
MI attacks HandyA and dies.
Our pillaging army has finally attracted some attention and 4 or 5 viking units head towards it.
And the bummer is.... we learn education.
Syracuse cat - library
870AD:
4/4 knight vs 2/4 knight wins
The stack of horses near Ravenna is going to cause grief. So again I am forced into attacking when I am not really ready.
3/4 knight vs 3/3 horse wins and promotes
4/5 knight vs 3/3 horse wins.
A quiet round really, but my secret plan to take out Niagara Falls isn't happening.
IBT:
A brave knight on a mountain defeats two knights and redlines a third before dying.
Neapolis knight - knight. I clicked Uni first but changed my mind.
Byzantium at 7spt can only build one thing knight - knight
Lutecia is also 7spt Cat - knight
880AD:
Do I raze Centralia? Well we are going to get Gunpowder in 4 turns, so I decide to wait. I would like a leader for Sistines.
5/5 MI vs 3/3 spear wins.
4/5 horse vs 3/3 archer wins
4/4 knight vs 3/3 spear wins and promotes
4/4 knight vs 3/3 archer wins
I risk a legionary against a redlined knight on a mountain just to get the tile from the AI. He wins unscathed.
4/4 knight against redlined archer on hill wins.
IBT:
Knight vs MI on Mountain dies.
Iroquois want to talk. I don't blame them, they are not long for this world.
Damn. The vikings catch up with our spear army. I left the horse in the open, just a bad mouse click, and he is killed.
Veii completed knight - university ordered (vetoable of course)
Antium knight - library. I know I am going Infra heavy but I think it would be too easy to overlook it.
Cumae Pike - Library
Pompeii pike - knight
Brundisium Pike - Pike. Good job whoever put the FP extension on this name. I'm going to do that in future.
890AD:
The vikings have got Berserkers.
I am really in trouble with our pillaging group. They are surrounded by 4MI on a pike, 1 knight and 2 Berserkers. I may have to sacrifice the cat to try to save the army.
Cat hits, knight kills MI, army moves onto same tile, leaving cat unprotected. Only the knight can reach in the inter turn. Sorry but it was the best I could think of.
Found Jerusalem in a rather optimistic location. It'll be fun trying to hold it.

Jerusalem orders walls, will be rushed next turn I bet.
Good bambardment job this turn.
Vet legionary vs redlined horse wins
Knight army against redlined pike on mountain wins.
Well, maybe I should take Niagara Falls.
4/4 knight vs 3/3 spear wins
5/5 knight vs 3/3 spear wins taking city.
There is a stack of injured units on the mountain to the north of our new city. It would be great to take them down.
4/4 longbow vs 2/4 MI dies
4/4 legionary vs 2/4 MI wins
4/4 MI vs 1/4 spear wins
5/5 knight vs 3/3 spear wins outside Centralia
Nothing else I can do this turn.
IBT:
Well, considering all that went on the previous turn, this could only be expected.
The pillaging armys cat was captured.
An elite horse dies to a knight attack. I thought it was safe, but the knight appeared from under the FOW. Don't know why I was surprised.
One spanish horse dies attacking Niagara, but a second kills a 2/4 knight.
Niagara riots, leaving one resistor.
Ravenna riots. I don't understand this. I took a knight out of the town and I checked. It had 3 happy, 2 content, 3 unhappy. Now it has 2 happy, 3 content 3 unhappy. But I'm sure I moved the knight first. Anyway, it always happens on the turn you hand over.
Virconium 16spt knight - pike
HandyA cat - cat
Palmyra pike - library
900AD:
5/5 knight vs 4/4 knight wins. Had to do it to protect Niagara
4/4 knight vs 1/4 MI wins
Knight army vs 4/4 knight wins
4/4 knight vs 4/4 horse wins
4/4 Legionary vs 1/4 MI wins and promotes.
Fortified some pults in HandyA by mistake. They need waking up.
In the interest of leader generation, with no intention of taking the city..
4/4 knight vs 4/4 spear in Centralia retreats
5/5 MI vs 3/3 spear in Centralia wins.
I could raze the city with a legionary, but I want it at size 2 to keep it.
Science slider down a notch. Gunpowder still in 2.
Well I didn't exactly cover myself in glory in this turn. Probably lost half adozen units. But I did found a new city and captured another.
5 turns es enough BTW. Took 3 hours.
Here is our Empire (using CTRL-SHIFT-N)
And here is the save...
