Special Edition- Missing Feature?

Yes Bablyon is Steam Deluxe Edition exclusive.

It may eventually be released via paid DLC (over Steam) or be included in the expansion pack, but their is no gaurentee of this.

As for any Steam matters, please re-direct them to the Steam threads.

I believe we have answered the question on the thread now.

Also I would like to point out, why is everyone like "omg, no bablyon in retail special edition" I don't get a DVD / 5 miniatures, a manual, or artbook, or CD with soundtracks with my digital copy, you dont see me posting threads about it asking "seriously are these non-digital exclusives"

Babylon is obviously a better bonus and wanted more than the 5 metal toys, by the community here at CivFanatics. (Proof by the amount of threads and complaining - which I will continue to take part in). They have been included in most of the Civ series, and because there is a chance of NEVER getting them in Civ 5, unless you pre-order on Steam is obviously the reason for the (well deserved community criticism) "omg, no babylon in retail special edition".

You should have known that, so why ask a rhetorical question?

There is the same chance I will NEVER get those 5 cool little dust collectors and the fly swatter (minatures + art book) unless I don't pre-order on Steam.

Having bablyon opposed to miniatures isn't necessarily better, infact I would rather have the miniatures but I have other reasons to buying on Steam than getting Bablyon, although it is a nice bonus. It certainly won't make my gameplay much better than others, on Civ4BTS who here plays with every single Civ, I'm sure everyone has a favourite they will play with more than others and some they ignore completely, in which case BTS's say 30 civ collection may as well be just 5 favourites. Same thing with Civ5.

Me. I choose random every single time. The more civs in the game, the more unique the gameplay to me.

Which leads me back to..

Maybe everyone is like "omg, no babylon" because they are simply more upset about it, than you are about losing out on your trinkets/book. This is a forum for Civ FANATICS after all, everyone's free to voice their opinions about it. So quit your whining about us complaining.

This doesn't affect your conclusion, which I agree with, but... just to clarify...Babylon is not tied to pre-ordering on Steam. It is included in the Deluxe Edition which will continue to be sold on Steam after release day.

The Steam pre-order bonus is, I believe, a Mesopotamia map pack.

100$ and you dont get babylon
And still no word if it will be available separetely.

I'm starting to be pissed off, this whole babylon thing is ********.
So tempted to cancel my pre-order just to :):):):) on 2K face.

OWNED!

My point still stands, I really want the miniatures but I have made my decision and I will live with it, go make your decision and live with it, stop the constant crying.

Yes, i unintentionally mis-worded my last statement, but that doesn't make YOUR crying about people complaining valid.

and again, No, i will not stop complaining. But feel free to continue crying about it. (that better Shoeslled ;) )

Sure it does, if you complain I can complain about your complaining, and ofcourse you can complain about my complaining on your complainging, but then i'll just have to complain about the complaints made against my complaining of your complaining, and then if you continue to complain in the chain as above I will have to further complain that your complaining about my complaints about your complaining about complaints made about my complaints about the original complaints are really starting to make my sentences long and confusing, hell i'm not sure if I've even said the right number of complains in the last sentence about complaints, which is again another reason to complain about this whole complaining situation.

So why don't we agree to stop the complaining, Starting now.

It's completely outrageous that Babylon is not included. It doesn't make sense. And now speculation has it that late 2010 is when first DLC will start being sold. My prediction is Civ 5 will be a DLC mania; and Firaxis knows they will make tons of loot off it.

They said it would be extremely difficult to mod Ghandi in Washington (in a dev interview), so if certain things are that difficult to do; they may figure they will sell DLC fairly well anyways.

Nothing wrong with DLC, so long as it doesn't hurt players who don't decide to buy it. Other than them not getting to play it, i.e will someone with bablyon still be able to play non-bablyon owners, its simple enough to make sure they will. Hopefully it will be implemented well.

Theirs also nothing wrong with Bablyon being Steam exclusive, all DLC will be Steam exclusive lol, :P, Steam gets to earn thier share by selling this for providing us with servers to give us a great multiplayer game.
If your only interest is singleplayer then you need not buy any DLC nor worry about others who get it.

Considering DLC for civ5 has been semi-confirmed by the offer made by D2D, and DLC appearing as early as late 2010, I'm reconsidering pre-ordering the game.

My buying the game now might depend on hearing that modding of civs is still possible and that mods won't be banned for putting civs in the game that are "similar" to official DLC. Firaxis and 2K, IMO, need to think very carefully how they handle DLC if they want to keep modders on side.
