[NFP] Speculation - Possible Game Mode

Doesn't this one look a little too much like the chances to get a Society Invite table ? I dunno, I feel like finding a table with exactly 4 entries, and each entry is exactly copied on the society invite condition, is somewhat a little too much of a coincidence here, no ?

Secret Society involves clearing Barb camps and finding Natural Wonders, neither of them are in this list of entries - on the other hand, heros based on suzerain and every envoy you sent are new things.

They are clearly very similar to each other and probably use the same modifier code-wise but I personally won't say it is an exact copy.

Well there goes the chances to recruit Conan the Barbarian or Atilla the Hun. :mischief:

I really hope these are historically attested heroes more than mythical ones. It would be cool to see the 300 Spartans as a 1 per game unit.

Edit: Actually looking through Infixo's posts a bit more closely, I just realised this might be related to the Pirates multiplayer game, and a Hero might just be the unit you control in that multiplayer mode.
Edit2: I don't know, that doesn't fit with the OP. The Pirates bit just makes things confusing and hard to decipher.

It's possible, but there's other elements that seem to point to it being a mode, including the Renown/Lifetime aspects of the UI we saw in the leaked Chinese Video.

Sorry you're right of course... I just read too fast and posted too fast... my bad...

But, it suddenly occurred to me, this might be the place to sneak some of the more problematic 'Leaders' into the game:
Boadicca as a Heroic Figure rather than a Leader for a Civ she never led.
Jeanne d'Arc as a Religious/Military/Cultural Hero for France rather than a mythical king/queen/minister

And several of the Great People who are a little 'off' as such could also perhaps be better realized as Heroes, like Artemisia already discussed, or Grace Hopper as a Scientific/Engineering Hero (she's a Great Admiral now, but in fact never commanded even a rowboat) or Marina Raskova who was a Feminist Aviation Hero (more so than Amelia Earhart, IMHO) but again never actually commanded any air, ground or naval unit.

And, as already mentioned, for 'Heroic Units with Leader', Leonidas and his 300 Spartan knights (his 'comitatus', in fact), or perhaps Joshua Chamberlain and his 20th Maine Regiment or Captain Jean Danjou and the 3rd company, 1st Battalion of the Legion Etranger or Yakov Pavlov and his incredibly stubborn platoon in Dom Palvlova at Stalingrad.

As said, there's a massive potential list of inclusions for this type of Mode.

Very good! There's also people who are significant cultural figures, but don't fit neatly into the Great People categories like Lewis and Clark's expedition or Martin Luther King Jr. who could be heroes as well.

Part of me feels like the hero units won't be specifically named heroes, but more customizable like the rock band units with custom names and promotions.

Or I could be wrong and the reason we are getting new great people in Pack 4 are because some of them might become hero units including Boudicca and Jeanne d'Arc who are Great Generals.

Yeag dlc 4 delivers "numerous great people" so could it relate to the game mode.

No it does not. The additions of a Game Mode are never listed seperately in the overall list. Soothsayer, new improvements, new units and new buildings were not listed under the main features of the pack.

So unless the Heroes are being added as a main feature for the game, then the Great People have are not tied to the game mode (unless they play off it when the mode is on like Georgia does with Dramatic Ages)

What I meant was some Great People could be removed and replaced. Those Great people that were removed could go into the game mode as new hero units.

I personally am leaning towards we don't get specific named heroes though.

The other possibility is they take names from mythological heroes, which means it won't be as much a historical game mode. :mischief:

It wouldn't be much less historical than Dido I guess (or other historically less certain leaders/great people).

Well it depends. I can see it going either way or both.
I can see King Arthur, Achilles as possibilities. On the other hand Boudicca or Leonidas can be used too.

I also don't think that's the case. if they "replaced" Great People (which they have done in the case of both Genghis Khan and Simon Bolivar) like they did with Venice (which replaced Antioch), they would have listed it the both times they did (This pack would've mentioned new City State and Pack 1 would've mentioned new Great People).

Whatever those Great People are brand new people. Also, again. The Mode has nothing to do with the Overall Pack in terms of content. If they added say Attila the Hun as a Great General as a new Great Person, he'd still be a new Great Person in the pack and be "removed" in the mode as a Hero Unit if that make sense?

Whatever the Hero units are, even if they are based of a Great Person would not mean that they'd be pernamently be removed as exclusives in the mode.

When you guys were kids and there were birthday presents all wrapped up - you guys shook the boxes and tried to peek under the wrapping paper, am I right?

Or carefully slit the pieces of tape, unwrapped the packages, then rewrapped them with new tape over the old tape...how did you guess?:mischief:

You guys rewrapped the presents?

You couldn't let your parents know that you know what you're going to get. They would be angry.
