spies, continued

random thoughts:
- our cities are smaller than before, but this was an investment and will pay off eventually.
- when we continue the research on archery, it might have been a mistake to start a granary instead of some barracks in Cretinberg. But there is a chop coming in soon (there was an odd number of forrests, so please cool down ;) ), so it doesnt matter much.
- I didnt find any new neighbors, but there has to be at least one more on our continent I think
- Our next city should go north soon, I left that honor to AK, as i´m glad he is ok again

New city to gold sounds good.

Granary early is never a mistake - we don't need all that much XP on protective archers anyways. We'll need more when it comes to axes... which we'll want very soon. I'd definitely do Iron next.

As for chops, I like them for the wonder rushing qualities but it makes sense to use them for early growth also. Early shields are more valuable a piece than later ones, but then later ones can be more timely. Here, with a wonder already that slowed our growth down, I have no problem with it at all.

Not sure if it wanders too far towards cheese, but we could spy bomb the germans and steal all their research - assuming they have anything worth nicking, that is?

Personally figure the early spy bomb is in the kinda borderline exploit territory, but there are worse things in the world?

80: apparently the students at the Idiot Academy have too much time on their hands. idiot academy grows and becomes unhappy. Barbs caused some issues hooking up the gold until the border of Happytowne popped. I whip a monument. IIRC.

Next set is going to be intense. need to get a ziggurat up in Cretinberg and put a spy to work. also think we should MM the academy for production for a few turns and try to chop oracle in it. My vote goes for IW after priesthood (presuming we have writing). Might as well take a shot at CoL slingshot.

when the first GS is built, I vote for joining him to the city. when the second is built, use him for scotland yard. I forgot to change the weight of our spy points. I feel we should weight Freddie one at this point.

OT - this got delayed because I was playing a solo game. seoul was taken by the barbs circa turn twenty! Never saw that before.
 
Ack, settled already. Ok. Would've liked to suggest moving it 1S from your proposed spot but with rice food we might be better off the way it is now.

Spy points towards Freddy, Oracle if possible, get IW and a worker or two.

One of the reasons I did it was to box Freddy and try to channel his growth away from us.
 
I like the spots of Your cities. This way we get all the tasty ressources, we can rack our heads about the south later.
Agree with settling the first Commander Bond, Spy bomb wouldnt get us anything without alphabet right now. I think he would live more comfortable in Idiot elephant poo Acadamy, so his beakers can help research more.
After then, one or two espionage points aggainst pericles wouldnt hurt, but most of them we can gift freddie.
Just asking - did You really build a monument? :O
 
Monument is required for the Oracle IIRC, that's why.
 
GS in Cretinburg generates +12. Also adds points to the +2 GW is doing. once the Z is built, cretinburg should be doing +5 GP so the first spy should be on the way. :nono: on polluting the GS gene pool.

re the monument, see my signature. B, I'm pretty sure we don't need one to build the Oracle.
 
Great spy generates science and spy points, not GPP. Great wall generates GPP, not spy points. Settling the GSpy in the capital will increase its science value every time we build something commercial in there, which will happen more early and more often than in Cretinburg.

As for the monument, well, that's one expensive fallus we got there then :)

Yes Beorn is right, these "great" persons seem to have no social life at all and so they dont get kids, just live to work.
 
The other fringe benefit to settling the Gspy in Idiot Accademy is that the +4 from the palace will get multiplied by the Scotland Yard we'll want to put there?

The oracle seems nice - in a normal game, I'd go for CoL with it, but we already have courthouses. Confucianism is still nice... and can't think of a better target.
 
Started playing, I'm also inclined towards CoL for the religion and civic, though Metal Casting is also nice. Monarchy would make sense as well, we have wine nearby and if we get the pyramids ( :hmm: ) we'd be set for Vassalage+Serfdom... Still voting CoL.

Btw, to pyramids or not to pyramids? Representation is nice but Hereditary rule does the happy face trick justice, and we'll want a number of vultures anyways...
