SSNES: Fall of Wu'di

:rotfl: That be GOLD!

Update 5 - 2004 FF The Year of the Fishhook

Starting with the most dramatic news: Everdrop is yet again struck by a catastrophe. The lower parts of the city facing the wide port is totally annihilated, leaving only a few large buildings and a pile of debris and corpses. The smell of rotting flesh is everywhere, and the fabled gardens of the city are flooded and destroyed. What happened, was not the wrath of nature, but had its source far away on the...

Islands: Fleskhar and its Sealords undertook a daring mission to strike the very heart of the Empire. Camouflaged as traders, they approached the center of the Moonshard archipelago. Underway, they were stopped and sunk, but the Sealords continued on using their unique ability to breathe underwater. Then they finally arrived outside the vast rounded port of Everdrop. There, they called on huge bodies of water to rise up and crash towards land. The effects were in short, devastating. The wave literally flattened the Dock Ward, went on upland into the inner city, through the Gardens and nearly reached the Palace itself. The numerous ships that were docked in the port were thrown inland, and destroyed. More importantly, the Academy in Everdrop was flooded and completely soaked. The cellar vaults are completely submerged, and all of it's valuble magical scriptures lost forever. Soon after this terrorist attack, Felaskhar openly took responsibility of the tsunami. They hoped to attract support from local islands, but instead, this caused a massive resentment and hatred for them among the people of Moonshard. Although their operation was a tremendous success, it's effect may well serve against Felaskhar. At any rate, the Empire is now fully aware of their eastern aggressor, and will act thereupon. Empire: (-60 Carracks, -75 Frigates)

Western Shelf: While still on the topic of islands, it is worth to mention Bellfern. Having secured their homeland from the claws of the Empire but still longing to see its end, Bellfern has struck out against the chain of islands nearby. The unprepared and undermanned garrison was quickly dispatched, and Bellfern has firmly established their rule. More importantly, they have also seized a large part of the Western Empire's fleet that was stationed there. Bellfern: (-200 LI, +50 Carracks, +20 Frigates) Western Empire: (-500 LI, -50 Carracks, -20 Frigates)

Elsewise, things are rather tranquil on the Western Shelf. They have after a while gotten used to this calm and steady lifestyle. It's the hippest drug here nowadays, and it's called Peace. No such luck for the other rebel nations, as we shall see - for example in...

The Heartlands: Lochia is gone. After two months of siege, Versov was surrendered to Semnon. But a few things were amiss. Well, the part that many people were missing due to the inhabitants resorting to cannibalism wasn't a surprise. But the Academy of Death was empty. It's vast volumes were all mysteriously gone. Some claimed it was the final bitter strike of Lochia, to destroy the Academy to deprive the Two Brothers of it. Some claim that it was magically transported away by the Empire in utmost secrecy, and many support this theory. A few murmurs have mentioned a strange sect of death cultist, but these stories are generally considered laughable and pure fiction.

Semnon did conquer Lochia, but now he had three more nations, each with their army, to deal with. Worse, with Horus blocking his way back to Turin, he was stuck in Versov and could not hope for reinforcements. A bloody battle was prepared. Initially, Semnon tried to force his way back through Horus, but his forces were intercepted by the joined forces of Delenlor and Ramon. The three rebel nations had already discussed their battle plans in advance, and it benefited them greatly. While the two armies stalled the Empire forces, the host of Horus came south to help them. At first, the battle was very even. Semnon and his army had met its match. The two forces clashed together for the entire day, but finally, the army from Horus came to save the rebels. While the Empire withdrew, the rebels were quite decimated as well, and had to retreat to their respective nations. Thus, not much is changed on the map, but the rebels maintain an advantage, both morally and strategically. If there was one victor, it had to be Horus, since they lost fewer troops, and have managed to fortify their northern front in the meanwhile. Delenlor has expanded a little since last year, but, along with Ramon, must start focusing on their eastern front. Western Empire: (-650 LI, -1100 HI, -900 LC, -150 HC, -700 B, -100 LB, -25 A) Delenlor: (-100 HC, -10 A, -250 B, -2400 LI), Ramon: (-1200 LI, -150 HC, -150 B, -5 A) Horus: (-1000 LI, -5 A)

For not goes well for Ramon and Delenlor. Their second attempt to capture the Academy of Life has failed. The two armies joined and marched to the mountain pass. There, they were met by the Empire army battle ready outside the city. Despite the depencible position of the city, they chose to fight the rebels of equal grounds. The general Fralwyn stood at the center of the Empire forces. Met with this blunt boldness, the rebels were astonished. The armies were for the most part equal in size, but the Empire forces were better trained than the rebels. This proved crucial in the end, when the Empire feigned a retreat to the city, and instead caught the rushing rebels in a pincer movement. Still, the rebels had a few surprises as well. Ramon who recently completed their research have now discovered the art of summoning elementals. These pure beings of fire are ridden by Adepts who wreack havoc among enemy forces. Still, the concept was an experimental one, and it did not go as planned. Seemingly attracted by the Empire Adepts, it charged through the enemy forces uncontrollabily until it crashed on the ground and was blasted away. It did kill all the Adepts in the surge, but the loss of one of these Knights of the Flame is a harsh one to Ramon. This was also sadly not enough to turn the tide of the war, and the rebels were repulsed. While this is an important happening in their eyes, a far greater threat is rising to the east. Eastern Empire: (-1850 LI, -1000 HI, -150 LC, -450 HC, -450 B, -100 LB, -25 A) Ramon: (-1000 LI, -50 HC, -400 B, -5 A) Delenlor: (-50 HC, -10 A, -100 BotW, -800 LI)

Lirkland: war has broken out between Galadinia and Rollux. The former claimed that the latter was too dangerous and "evil" to be left alone. Thus, the ageold alliance between the countries was broken. This caused the entire world to stir, but there is one nation that should be shaken by this war: Ramon. It's freshly signed mutual protection pact is now pulled forth by the Lichlord Riccul of Rollux, and he pleas ramon to act honourably upon it, and save his ally against the "totally uprovoked aggression" from Galadinia. The war is currently going steadily in Galadinia's favor. If Ramon wants to save their eastern ally, they need to act quickly. Galadinia: (-1950 LI, -500 HI, -1300 LC, -750 HC, -800 B, -10 carracks) Rollux: (-1100 LI, -2700 AG, -90 A, -20 Carracks)

There is further unrest in Lirkland, as the king of Pashawan has finally returned to Pesh. He has gone mad of all the speculations wether ha was mad or not, thus fulfilling the profesy. Now he has suddenly ordered the invasion of Cairo for no apparent reason. The surprised defence of Cairo has only managed to hold the army Pashawan by the Cairo massif, and have lost vast northern region. This happened only after the charging army of Pashawan came to a painful halt by the western river. While headed for the capital of Cairo itself, they were ambushed by cairen Defenders, who made short process out of the invading army. Now Pashawan is amassing yet another army to bolster the one already attacking Cairo. Things are looking grim for the frontier nation. Pashawan: (-3850 LI, -1300 HI, -1100 WH, -50 HC) Cairo: (-1000 LI, -1200 CD)

The Steppes: Shaba has prospered under their new leader, Nadime Senkrist. Small raids and expansion into the eastern Empire has been followed by dealings with the Bajuim and Karaim nomads. The results are very contrasting. While the expansion goes steadily, the development with the nomads has been radical and turbulent. First, the western bajuim nomad all joined Shaba. Then the Karaims who had suffered numerous "visits" by the Shaban army openly went against them. The brooding conflict between the settled Shabans and the nomad Karaim has gone from icy to burning hot as the hatred grows among the Karaim who have always been treated as inferior to the settled peoples of the Steppes. Those who have joined Shaba are shunned and regarded as weak. While no armed conflict has risen yet, the tension is unmistakable. The ingrained conflict between Shaba and Karaim was strengthened with the raids and the presumed assasination of Luxarus Crowfort. Now war seems inevitable as one more shocking news sees the light of day:

While conducting searches of betrayers among their own ranks, the culprit between the assasination was discovered to be none other than General Valcon himself. After he went to inspect one of the border patrols, he simply vanished and was never seen again. As his study was searched, notes appeared that proved valcon as a traitor. The letters adressed to him were anonymous, but clearly described the raids as they had been when the Karaim raveged the Gardens. Who was the leader of the operation still remains unclear...

Divination magic has now completely collapsed! In the Oracle of Traz, what may become the last Mass Divination was conducted on New Year's Eve. Customary as it was, the Adepts were all nervous of being killed, if not of not divining anything. This was sadly all too true for the Adepts, who experienced what amy only be described as a massive collapse while they were still Divining. The results were all sorts of deaths from vanishing to gory explosions. Those who survived were all mad or similarly incapacitated. this is a great blow against Galadinia and the Empire as well. With the Academy of Divination flooded in Everdrop and the Adepts of Galadinia gone, the branch of Divination is soon to be lost forever.

Far in the east, the barbarians are steadily expanding in the forests...

Anything I've missed or forgotten? Bah. Whatever.

Umm, the update is here, like? Everyone died of anticipation? Gah. :p

I just though that you guys were so up on their toes that you would jump and the thread whenever you saw that I had posted, thinking it was the update... I do that often...

how about stats? and when are orders due?

Stats are done, as far as I know. Look up and report any mistakes.

You havent subtracted my battle casulties....and my population remains the same...

DOH! I KNEW I had forgotten something. That is the case of every nation on board! Gah. Back to work. :whipped:

Losses are now subtracted. Some nations have sustained quite a few casualties. Some others have received a little bonus in the form of volunteers.

What about my pop? It's seems really small compared to other nations...also I shouldnt have any banked points anymore.

Good update BTW.

... NOT AGAIN! :whipped:

EDIT: Edited. And thanks BTW.

Also what happened to the Death academy knowledge?Did my agents get some of it?

Good update.

What must happen until the Nations of the Western Shelf contribute something to the war against Wu'di? Thousends of Hearth and Borderlanders are dieing on the Western Battlefield while nations of Bellfern, Shaba and the Kingdom of Westshire are sitting in their gardens, enjoying peace which is only secured by OUR campaigns. The war against the Wu'di Empire is only won when the last presence on the continent has been eleminated.

We have fought well and also more of our men will die until the greater evil has been destroyed it will be worth it.

We are most distrubted. What was once a land of peace is now a land of warmongerers.

What a shame that your soldiers did not arrive at the battlefield sooner. Perhaps the battle could have been decided more decisive.

We suggest to start trading.

EDIT:

OOC:

I think you forgot to add my project.

Wasn't the battle in the west a bit too bloddy? I mean, I lost 3/4 of my deployed army.

From: Horus
To: Ramon

We are sorry we came so late but we had to go through enemy lands.Trade sounds good.

From: Ramon
To: Horus

We too had to travel enemy territory.

Good to hear. We will start trading this turn.

OOC:3/4  I ordered them to charge to south and not waste any time.So I guess I was just too far off.

Yes, you said charge south, but you didn't say how many. And you certainly did not mention any tactics at all. Seeing as it was, I felt it natural that your army (which was separated from the two others) came a bit later. Semnon was headed back for Turin, but was intercepted, see? Then you came crashing down from the north and ended the battle. Note that Semnon is back in Versov again after the battle.

EDIT: the only reason I posted that about the Academy was because you mentioned it in the orders. That is all you, or anyone else, will know. For now. :mischief:

EDIT2: tossi, what was your project again?
