SSNES: Fall of Wu'di

Tossi, are you in a bad mood or something?

We agree. We will take land west of the river that your capital is on; you should take land to its east. Also, shall we share our magic scrolls, so that you gain Air Magic and we gain Earth Magic?

Sharing magic? Interesting. Bear in mind that copying scrolls might take some time... Or money, I suppose, since I allow rushing projects...

It's always been a dilemma for me, rushing projects. On one hand, it seems unlikely with the traditional Wonders, since they are large architectual undertakings that require one part of the process to be finished before the other can be initiated (like towers...) But copying scrolls? You just need a bunch of people to write (carefully at that)... I think I will opt for a middle way next time. You can rush it to half the time, or something. Yeah, that sounds good. Next NES, mind you.

The entire magic academy of a nation only has one copy of their magic? That seems unlikely...

Uhm? No, actually I had an most excellent day. Woke up with some buns (wow, thats such an ugly english word for such a wonderfull thing) with quince-jelly - then I did some sports and drove through the city. And now I just came back from a wonderfull party.

Hihi, sorry I just wanted to share, that I had a quite a nice day :D.

Ramonia is indeed quite pissed off :D. Quite very damn much pissed off.

Explanation of Academy and Schools of Magic:

The Academy (every one of them) is basically an encyclopedia of ALL spells developed and worthy of note in that specific school of magic. This means that one Adept does NOT know all of them. It means that he has access to them via the Academy. The most used spells are memorized for quick and efficient use. But most must be found in the Academy and studied in order to be cast.

This also means that what spells are known by one Adept differs from what every other Adept has memorized. Due to personal studies and preferences, naturally. But when some of you say in your orders that the Adepts will cast a specific spell, I assume that they either have it memorized, or they find the spell described in the Academy, and study it. Therefore, the Academy is like a giant spellbook (if you have any knowledge of D&D at all).

Each Academy has it's unique language. Adepts who are trained in one school can read and write the language without problems. For other Adepts, it is obviously magical (most of the letters in magic languages seem to move around...) but completely greek. For non-Adepts, they don't even move. Ironically, it is easier for a non-Adept to copy a magic writing than it is for an Adept of a different school.

Copying the entire Academy will take some time, but learning the language will also be tricky. I will demand a project for each of them, but not at great cost (clerks are cheap). The learning bit can be boosted with Adept exchanges, where you teach the other Adepts to read your signature magic language. Oh yeah, I forgot:

NOTE: You can't teach already trained Adepts another magic language! Like I said in the beginning somewhere, I don't want mixing schools of magic. It's something i decided on early on, and I'd rather not change it. The bonus is therefore the option to choose what school your Adepts will be teached in.

Any more questions? Tell me if I'm self-contradictory.

To Delenlor
From Shaba

That sounds like a good plan. If you manage to take that land in the year to come, I will move N,E and aid Cairo. Then in a few years we will be able to crush the Triad from two sides.

As of sharing spells, I would like that very much. I will send a delagate of 50 clercs to your capitol to learn from your adepts the language of the air. You are welcome to send 50 clercs to the Gardens i to learn the language of the earth.

From Shaba

Shaba still remembers the cold rejection we got when we proposed an alliance. But Shabans are a forgiving people, so we will lend a hand to our neighbors in the east. One can never have to many friends in these troubled times. Our armies will fight side by side, to regain lost territories. But this will only be if Cairo is willing accept a few terms.

1) Shaba will gain acces to the acadamy of life
2) Shaba will have the right to farm and live on the land to the north. The snow is making our crops fail, and we need new land to harvest food to feed our people.

I hope that togheter we can beat the triad and form a close bond between our nations.

We humbly accept your conditions. We have already lost our homelands to the Triad. We will not risk losing the Academy. We propose that it be kept safe by both of our forces. If we could meet eachother on the field, we would be ready to strike at the heart of Jaid itself. We still need precious supplies and ready blades to guard the Academy while we move...

OOC: We'll discuss the details later.

Explorer, you damnable, damnable blight upon our world :sad::sad: I just wrote a story I considered better than usual, and what do you know? Explorer has logged me out. I log in, then have to go back. Then I'm told "This page has expired". SO DAMN YOU, MICROSOFT!

As in design new spells? Or make a whole new Academy?

As for designing spells, yes. Ramon's Fire Summoning is one example. Project, naturally.

A new Academy will require how many new spells? You need to make a new branch of magic first to do so (or you could make a new Academy by copying an existing one like Delenlor/Shaba) which needless to say goes outside the time span of this NES. :p

And yes, I understand that you didn't ask it seriously, but someone might have been wondering about that anyway. At least after you asked it.

BTW, get those orders in so I can correct any mistakes. It really helps to both learn the rules and avoid update mishaps.

I'm on now. But you seem to be offline. :p

Orders are due Thursday as always.
