Update 6 - 2005 FF The Year of Poetic Ambushes (that's right!)

Starting in the easternmost edge to the west this year. Much has changed since the last, both militarily and politically. Starting with the completely independent barbarians of the east - the Konahn. Konahn the Mighty is attracting even more followers, and his dominion is growing faster than anything seen before. Still, communication is beginning to be a problem, since his entire realm is a big honking forest. Thus, the Wild Adepts are beginning to adapt themselves to the trees, and have gained an innate affinity to the woodlands. The enhanced Adepts are called Wild Walkers, and practice magic that allows them to wonder safely and fast through forested terrain. (Konahn magic is now an entirely new branch of magic, it isn't fully developed yet. Stories and spending will help with that, TerrisH) If the barbarian nation ever enters the scope of the civilized lands remains to be seen.

Lirkland: As unexpected as the invasion of Cairo comes the new peace treaty between the invading Pashawan and the mentioned. Apparently, it was negotiated through by the Eastern Empire, who acted as host for the two nations. Still, Pashawan keeps the land it has taken from Cairo. With this new peace and secure borders to the south, the mad king Hardot IV has turned west and invaded it's ally, Galadinia. With their entire infantry off to fight Rollux to their east, Galadinia had to fight the vast army of Pashawan with their cavalry only. This meant open battle was the only option, and it cost them greatly. Despite the invasion being totally unexpected and hard to counter, Galadinia dished out plenty of damage for the Pashawani army. Still, the agressors were far too many to be driven back, and only the cities have been able to resist the slow but steady advance. With this war, the age-old alliance between Lirkland is completely shattered. Galadinia is very pressed, as they are now facing enemies on both sides, and have lost all their Adepts to the Death of Divination. Galadinia: (-800 LC, -400 KoG, -500 B) Pashawan: (-1650 lI, -350 HI, -450 LC, -150 HC)

Speaking of which, the war has come to a standstill for Galadinia on their western front. While the spring passed, the Host of Galad had marched steadily into the heart of Rollux, meeting no resistance. They were not far from the capital of Vishad when they finally clashed with the defenders. The army of Rollux was united in one single battle to defeat the Galadinian army. The battle was a bloody one, with ranks upon ranks of Galadinian infantry against the Rollux Adepts hurling balls of negative energy from among the Arcane Guardians. The defenders were quite successful in the end, and managed to push the Host of Galad back east. Now with the news of the Pashawan betrayal, the Host of Galad is forced to make a crucial decision. Will they head back to defend Galad, or will they continue to wage war against Rollux? Galadinia: (-4800 LI, -1850 HI) Rollux: (-650 LI, -1450 HI, -55 A)

The Steppes: Shaba has extended an open hand to their Karaim neighbours. Around a third of them grasped it and joined the nation, while the remaining are bent on continuing their nomadic anarchic lifestyle. Some of them are appaled to be bunched with the raiders who attacked the Gardens, and are refusing to negotiate with Shaba as a result. Others are what one could call barbarians, who would be outlaws under Shaba anyway, and defies to give Shaba authority over their territories. In fact, many Karaim have moved out to the south, generating a stronger distinction between the nomadic Karaim and the settled Bajuim. With the current development, a ethno-cultural conflict is imminent. The skirmishes continue with the Empire, but no major battles have been fought. Shaba: (-150 SB) Empire: (-200 LC, -100 B) The northern half of Shaba has now set up a clever watchpost network, built by the army while awaiting Wu'dian forces. Still, Shaba is expanding on other fronts, and communication is becoming strained. This is not a major problem at the time being, but might get out of hand if something is not done about it. The same can partly be said about...

The Heartlands: Delenlor, which has grown even larger after their eastern campaign, but the Air magic is still enabling reasonably fast communication. The army of Delenlor has paused their military operation to their west, and concentrated to aid their northern ally Ramon to capture the Academy of Life. while shocked and appaled at the latter's break with the pressed Rollux, but they decided to follow through with their own agreement to cooperate with Ramon against the Eastern Empire. But the situation called for caution, so the Delenlor army went around the south and did not group with the Ramon army. While the latter marched towards the Academy of Life, delenlor made great progress through the southern lands. Fralwyn was aware of this, and when the two armies eventually met by the Academy City, he had already made preparation ready to evacuate. This became useful when the allied rebels finally were victorious in their third attempt to capture the eastern portal into the Heartlands. The Delenlor Bowmen of the Wind were those who won the day for the rebel alliance, firing their incendiary arrows (with help from Ramon Adepts) into the Wu'di defenders with great effect. The city was partially burned down, but the essential Academy was intact. Thus, Delenlor has become the first and only of the rebels to control two Academies. (That's right, the only.) Ramon: (-5 A, -1150 LI, -50 HC, -200 B) Delenlor: (-750 LI, -50 HC, -450 BotW, -10 A) Empire: (-1750 LI, -600 HI, -500 B, -100 LB, -5 A)

Horus has made slow but steady progress into the southern half of the Western Empire. Their northern border is now riddled with defence works, and suitably intimidating to discourage an assault. This was exactly what happened when Barragh came south with his task force. After two cautious attempts to find weaknesses, the task force gave up, and are now camped just north of the border. While their defences are great, it does not allow Horus to easily make moves across into the Turin peninsula. Thus, the front is frozen, and both armies are left watching at eachother rather dumbly. It did however stall the Wu'dian army however, which was crucial for the daring military operation of...

Western shelf: Bellfern, who were aiming for the Academy of Earth (is that correct? Don't remember) in Turin. With their entire fleet and a large invasion army, they set off from the Torinnin islands into the Gulf of Turin (many new geographic names popping up here. Cool.) When they approached the capital city, they were attacked from behind by Empire ships. The Frigates were carrying Earth Adepts who thrust stone spears up from the seabed to pierce the hulls of the Bellfern ships. Many of them were sunk, but the small Empire fleet was destroyed in the end, leaving the port wide open. Seeing this, the relatively small garrison (without Barragh who was facing Horus in the south) saw it wisest to cede the city temporarily to Bellfern until their war chief could return. This was a boon for bellfern, who were only out after the Academy of earth to carry it away to their homeland. But the Academy was gone, set aflame by the fleeing garrison of Turin. Closer inspection revealed that the books and scriptures were removed beforehand, but the whereabouts of them is still a mystery. The entire city was searched with no avail. The Bellfern task force had to return without their prize. Only they couldn't. When they came out to the Gulf og Turin, they dicovered that the entire span of it was riddled with reefs and rocks raised without doubt by the Wu'di Earth Adepts. With no other options, they returned to Turin, and are planning their next action. Meanwhile, the task force who were only prepared for a quick in-and-out mission is growing uneasy and low on supplies. Barragh is expected to return to Turin with the southern front frozen, and tensions are beginning to rise in the city's population... Bellfern: (-15 A, -10 WD, -650 LI, -100 HI, -50 LC, -30 Caravels, -10 Carracks, -5 Frigates) Empire: (-15 Frigates, -30 Earth A)

Shaemar has launched an offensive into their east, and have secure the western side of the dividing mountain range (wanna name it?). The garrison had made some defence works, but their preparations were fragmented by red dragon bombards launched by Shaemar. Summoning great red Dragons who hunger for revenge for Empire dragon hunts, the flying terrors breathed streams of liquid fire at their enemies. To defend against any further invasion over the mountains, the Earth Adepts of the Empire have tightened the pass and set up huge defence works around the key city. Shaemar: (-5 RDD, -300 LI) Empire: (-600 LI)

Bellfern with it's rising confidence and rich culture is beginning to gain support in the border regions to the south and east. Wether this will cause problems with their allies is uncertain.

Islands: Far out at sea, a naval battle was fought between Felaskhar and Wu'di. Having launched a naval blockade against the northernmost islands in the Moonshard archipelago, the Felaskhar navy was ready for Empire retaliations. It came, with great force: about half of the Empire's reinforced navy. Still, the Water Adepts of Felskhar proved fearsome, summoning water elementals to attack the Empire ships with tremendous result. Although being smaller, the Felskhar navy was victorious, and drove the Empire back. the islands under the blockade has also finally succumbed and surrendered to Felaskhar. Empire: (-55 Carracks, -25 Frigates, -300 B) Felaskhar: (-20 Carracks, -10 Frigates, -5 A, -200 B)

Kulta: Merchants traveling to Kulta have witnessed a strange and deadly plague on the rise in the Western Continent. Epidemies are quite common in Kulta with the great jungle spawning all kinds of diseases, and on many occasions the Empire has cancelled trade until the epidemic has swept away. Trade with Kulta will be risky or outright dangerous for the next few years.

As always, please report any errors or lacks.

What a great battle! Finally we have defeated our enemy and secured our eastern border. I hope you remember our deal. I will recieve the Magic Citadel of Life, but we will both share it's powers. To control the southern Gate to Ramon is of great importance to our culture and our security.
