SSNES: Fall of Wu'di

Update 12 - 2012 FF The Year of Bleeding Suns

SPOTLIGHT I: Senate of Tori

"We have traitors in our midst!!!"

Chairman Yang's face was flushed to the point where it looked ripe enough to pop. The entire hall was dead silent except for him. The representatives were all stunned. This was lunacy, outrageous, an impossibility. Yet the mubers remained: 135 Yea, 65 Nay

The Keeper cleared his throat most painfully and rose. Everyone gazed at him, and the poor man shrinked back almost as far as sitting down again before speaking up:

"Chairman, as much as this motion is..." he paused, at a lack of words. "Should the vote be held right away?"

The Chairman came to life, bored through the Keeper's head with his steel gaze. At this, the entire hall broke out in a mayhem of outcries and heated discussion. Several began to fight on the floor, while others were looking around nervously, trying to figure out about it all. At last, the Chairman cried out:

"This session is over!"

Yet, it was the Keeper's right to end sittings in the Senate, but it mattered little. With this motion for vote already passed, he feared there would be nothing left of the Republic anyway. First Chairman Yang of the Republic of Tori rushed out of the senate hall and left from chaos to void. Behind him, a series of violent grapples were starting. A few Representatives lost their lives that day.

Global news: The Undeads are being fought all over the world, but have so far only continued their journey to the west and east. The Grey Isle where a lot of them are gathered has moved further southeast, and is expected to collide with the Blade Coast if it continues to move as it does. Otherwise, the cloud cover that has lasted many years now is easing, revealing more and more of the skies and the sun. Despite the hard times, it seems nature has released one finger of its hard grip on the Southern continent.

Spine of the World: The various tribal lords of Konahn have finally crossed the line and begun infighting. The continual accusations about not being faithful to the Emperor Konahn has led the regional lords to fight eachother "in the name of the Emperor" despite the said ruler's orders not to fight with armies. This is of course only the poor excuses for the regional lords, who only keep mentioning the Emperor to fool their subjects, and are really out to grab power for themselves. This was quite successful until the Emperor's troops began attacking the regional lords. Now, the Empire of Konahn is broken down into four segments with each part being mirrors of eachother, only with different rulers. Wether the infighting will continue, or it will manage to regain a semblance of order again is uncertain.

Frontier: The people of Clous continue on their work to create a worthy Academy for their branch of magic. Nothing special is going on elsewise.

Cairo under Governor Terrator has managed to make a return from the uncertain times after the loss of the Academy of Life. With a new peace treaty with Pashawan and the recent extermination of undead hordes within the borders, people are beginning to respect the old oligarchy again. This has put a dampener on the revolutionary movements in the coutry and stabilized the nation. Still, the undead hordes are far from gone, and rumors speak of a much larger congregation moving back westwards again. Times are still dark.

Steppes: Shaba has also cleansed the land for wandering undead and also fortified the border against Delenlor in an attempt to slow the incoming hordes. Furthermore, the Academy of Illusion is successfully translated, allowing Shaba to become the second of the rebel nations to have access to two Academies. There is still an uneasy truce with Pashawan to the north, and the future could bring war to Shaba yet again.

Delenlor still stands on the political map this year. After strengthening the walls of the Citadel, they waited patiently for Ramon and Horus to come. The former came, but the latter was not to be seen. The initial tactic of Delenlor was to hide the Air Adepts high up in the clouds and blow gale force winds down and hinder the enemies to advance. The forces on the ground could not see their location, and had to "toss fireballs blindly" and could do squat against them. This worked perfectly until, of course, the Knights of Flame came lurking around from the back. In a series of ambushes and a short aerial combat, all of the Delenlori Adepts were incinerated and falling to the ground as a rain of ash. the battle on the ground was still favourable for the defenders, what with all the massive defence works and the numerically equal forces. However, Ramon sent a small force up a small and almost forgotten path high up in the mountains, and down in behind the Citadel's walls. This strike team managed to open one of the gates at night, allowing the main army of Ramon to enter. This was discovered at once by the Delenlori defenders, and a bloodly urban battle ensued. The streets of the Citadel were littered with soldiers and civilians alike, and blood was running out from the Westgate (I had to! This map is Faerûn after all!) in tiny rivoulets. This battle of the Citadel is still raging, and as snow fell on the mountain pass, things have grown from ugly to horrifying. Worn soldiers are fighting on almost no food, and many literally collapse on duty. Some have stooped to cannibalism, and what started out as a looting of the city has turned into a scavenging for firewood. Amidst all of this, the people is suffering greatly, and although the army has kept them under control in the Citadel, other cities have been taken over by regional Senates. These representative city-states all hail as branches of the main Republic of Tori, but this can not last for long.

Lirkland: Pashawan has signed a peace treaty with Cairo, and paid a token sum as reparation for the damages done. It became clear that they had wanted it to make a cure for the plague that hit Pashawan particularly hard. After the cure was developed, it was going to be sold to other plague-struck countries for profit. Now they have apologized their actions, and sworn not to trespass into Cairen lands again. However good (or bad) their intention, the Academy of Life is still lost. Many Cairen hold a grudge for the many conscripted men who lost their lives in the raid. Will the two nations remain peaceful, or will the cries of the dead throw the living into war again?

Rollux once again aids their southern ally against the forces of Ramon. AAalthough the Citadel stands, it only does so with the aid of Rollux forces, and the slightly losing stalemate has made the Lichlord of Rollux fed up with the entire affair. After building an army of flesh golems with the Adepts, Rollux has now pulled out its forces from the Citadel. They are possibly going to strike to the north, but much suggests that Rollux has deserted the Delenlori for good. With all the rebellions flourishing, it doesn't look like the latter is going to last for too long. Is Rollux only pulling out to make peace negotiations with Ramon easier in the future?

Heartlands: Ramon has fought Delenlor for half a decade. before that was the war against the Eastern Empire. Now, even the warlike people of Ramon is growing weary of the continuous wars. The younger generations are being towed away to fight and die for the nation's honor, and however this might be a just cause, it's unbearable in the end. Rumors speak of the Republic and revolutions even in Ramon now. If the war isn't over soon, the whispers might turn into angry voices, and toss Ramon into a situation not unlike that of Delenlor's.

Horus and the Republic have experienced tumultous times. Right after the founding of the latter, a large number of the Representatives chosen in to the Senate were swapped with Horusian agents. This allowed them to pass a motion that would have been loughed at, had it not been for their interference. The motion was a merger of the Republic and Horus. This was all a good idea, but the Republic had already made plans to overturn the Horus Elders through popular revolts, and it was considered unneccessary. What really pissed them off, however, was that the motion proposed Seth Dethos, Horus' unspoken despot, to be the new King of the unified nation. This was simply outrageous, and it literally broke the Senate when the motion was passed, due to the said agents of Horus. The vote was announced void by the First Chairman yang the day after, but Horus had already made preparations for taking over the Republic. The new nation was named Benethrezim, after the people, and Seth Dethos was crowned King Seth Dethos I, by the grace of the people, King of Benethrezim. This was all fine and flowery until the real revolutionary managed to muster their forces and start the already prepared popular revolts in numerous parts of the new kingdom. Now the heartlands is looking like a green lizard with spots of fleshy wounds, and it does undoubtably look that bad for Seth Dethos as well. Will he manage to quell the rebellions and make his kingdom a reality, or will the rebels win and throw him off the throne?

Islands: Felaskhar has gone completely underwater. There, they are living in clusters of dwellings, completely sheltered from the Empire. The Sealords are currently trying to find ways to tame large beasts of the sea to do their bidding. It looks like Felaskhar will be one of the rebel nations to make it to the end of the Fall of Wu'di...

Speaking of which, Wu'di has turned to domestic affairs, more specifically to the numerous undeads toaming the land. After a large mustering outside their capital, they went through the entire archipelago and slaughtered all the undeads they came across. the people are happy, and the sun is shining. But the Nether Islands are still under Kultan rule, and the rebels of Felaskhar has escaped beneath the waves. Will they renounce their claims like they did with the Blade Coast, or will the First Prince strive to regain the lands and honor?

Kulta has further strengthened the webs of illusion around the Nether Islands to the point were even magical communication is growing difficult. They seem to be bound to isolate themselves for good.

western Shelf: Shaemar has begun a massive reform of their nation. From agriculture to architechture, every kind of craftmanship is being researched and improved. the government is also being reformed, allowing the people more say in political affairs. This reformation has been named the Renaissance, signifying the beginning of a new Shaemar, worthy to be remembered as a nation on its own - not just one of the many rebel nations during the Fall of Wu'di.

Soltyria has activated its Magic Detectors to track down the lost Academy of Air. What they found was traces of air magic that led back to the Horus capital of Drach'nyen. Here, the traces were suddenly weakened, and spread out to all directions. It is unclear if the Academy is spread out across the coutry, or if it was transported away by some magical or other means. However, there is little doubt that Horus was the thief, and that the whereabouts of the Academy is known by Seth Dethos. What the Soltyrians wish to make out of this is up to them.

There. Done. Now I will grab some dessert and read your comments.

You know, I really shoud've named my NES Hard Times NES or something. Jeez, why do you guys still play? I pile on the bad news, but you keep coming back for more!

I'm beginning to ask that question myself...

Could I convert Delenlor into a republic, or would there then be counter-revolts?

Have you yet updated the stats? If you have, you forgot to change my capitol from Dareos into Waterdeep (the one underwater).

Great update, by the way.

Stats are not done yet. And yes, I would recommend you turn your nation into a republic, JD. The military stewardship wasn't meant to last anyway.

AHAHAHA! :rotfl:

To Soltyria
From Benthrezim

Unfortunately I have no idea what you are talking about, you are free to send inspectors in our country and scour every inch....but we do not have it.You also have full access to search our newest academy...Death Academy.Thats right Death not Air.

We fear that you are being manipulated by other forces.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it in the update bacause of all the stuff about the Republic:

Horus has finished Barad-dûr, which is essentially a big black tower containing the newly made Death Academy. Most of the writing was done by Sethy himself, since there are no other Death Adepts. There will be more now, I guess.

Please remember that I said I would have 10 Death Adepts when it was complete. If you dont go to hellas because I deleted that order so I have no proof.

I don't have it, but I distinctly remember that you said it in your orders, so it's OK.

Okay all is kewl and good then

Edit:I mean besides the zombies, whole mountain load of rebels and Reno wanting me to magically conjure an entire Academy of Air I never seen before.

So are we going to war or you'll feel me up  that sounded dirty.

Why not both? :D It's what they call "spoils of war"...

The General and the Republic: Part I

General McKrawl stared at the map and sighed. It was an extremely large map of the Citadel of the Pass, with approximate areas of control and troop movements marked according to the latest available information. Although Delenlor still controlled around three-quarters of the city, they were slowly but surely being pushed back, especially now that all of the Adepts were dead. To be sure, it would take months for Ramon to actually triumph, but they would triumph unless the situation changed.

For the millionth time, he wished this war had not happened. It seemed like decades ago that he had led his troops out of this very city, relieved that war had been averted.

We were so stupid. The adepts were not under our control. They were never under our control. And then they destroyed the Academy for some ridiculous reason. And then Ramon invaded and destroyed us all. Ah, if only the scouts had reached our army in the east in time! Instead, they conquered us with zero casualties. None!

But it seemed they were done after that, content to watch us desperately try to survive. How was I supposed to know that the Adepts would take justice into their own hands? And before I knew it, here I was fighting a war-a war I cannot win-while the Adepts at least have found peace in death.

And now the people want peace. Have they no gratitude for the armies which stand between them and genocide? I never wanted to be the leader. In fact, if by some miracle we survive this war, I will give up power in a second. Then I'll be free from all of this. They can form all the assemblies they want, I don't care so long as they support us...

He stopped his train of though abruptly. They can form all the assemblies they want, I don't care so long as they support us... That was it! A slow smile spread over General McKrawl's face.

He called in his secretary. "Summon the heads of the cities. I have an announcement to make."

It is time to Unveil Enpowerment.. to Unveil the first of the seven Eastern schools of magic.

It's time to for Lord Kohnahn to cast Aside his name and take the first step toward Accension.

story to follow by monday.
