Star Trek unit preview thread

Yup, the best one of the universe...

(People in Antwerp are known for their modesty... :D)

Fresh from the Flamand spacedocks, here are the Delta Flyer fighter, the Regal class frigate, the Neptune class heavy transport and the Orinoco class dreadnaught...

Meanwhile in the 23rd Centrury:

treksmileyspock.gif
Captain, the name of this Orinoco class starship is illogical. It clearly shows all the hallmarks of a Galaxy class, but with a third nacelle. Therefore logic suggests that it must be called Galaxy class refit...
treksmileykirk.gif
Come now Spock, how realistic would it be to have the both the Galaxy and it's refit fighting side by side?
treksmileyspock.gif
Perhaps so, captain. Renaming it would avoid such confusion, but why 'Orinoco'? I distinctly remember the Cheyene class used to be called like that before someone pointed the author to his mistake...
treksmileykirk.gif
Maybe this person, this Flamand guy just likes that name?
treksmileyspock.gif
That would not be very logical, captain...
treksmileymccoy.gif
Maybe not, but it would be human. That would never fit into that Vulcan head of yours...

Honours go to me for pointing out the mistake. Incidentally, you've got Spock speaking as both the Captain and for himself if you look at your post closely...

If you want more ideas for ships with unusual numbers of Nacelles, there is a Tri-Nacelled variant of the Sovereign class called the Macbeth class. They have details and info on the Furryconflict site. (Which incidentally you might find useful when deciding the stats for your ships)

It isn't the most canon of sites though, because it's all about a war between Starfleet and the Empire.

Anyways, here's their ships:

The Furryconflict Technopedia

And the Macbeth class:

The Macbeth class

Not that you need more designs from what i've heard, but still... :mischief:

Honours go to you indeed... :) The last one is McCoy, not Spock... Look closely, no weird eyebrows...
And Sword is right, I only have 2 Feddies left to do, and then it's on to the Klingons... Thanks for the site anyway.

From next weekend on I might need some help naming the ships, as I don't speak Klingon and some of those ships have no names. So if you know of any honourable names, let me know...

PS: that site seems to have some nice documentation... thanks... :goodjob:

I'm sorry but I thought If you took Matress' link and made all the ships, you would never be done with making Federation ships, because there are THOUSANDS of Federation vessels depicted there...

I saw a two part Enterprise episode today and yesterday, called "Threw the Mirror Darkly" now I REALLY miss Enterprise...

Names?

Heh...I can DEFINITELY help you there - we made a huuuge list of possible ship names over on the BOTF2 site... ;)

And of course, those are just the Klingon-native names. You can add English ones as well to expand on the list, such as the famed "Sword of Kahless"...

If you need ones for any of the other (Major) races, let me know. I've got a list of Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, and Ferengi names. I've also got a list of the names of the Minor race vessels from BOTF, but since there were so few Warp-capable races, and it took them so long to build ships, there weren't many programmed in.

If you want me to post the entire list Flamand, just let me know. ;)

...

I watched the Mirror episodes as well, Sword_Of_Geddon. My only fix of Star Trek is from Channel4 (A UK tv station) and they haven't finished showing season 4 yet... :D

c020.gif

Somehow I think that would be enough for the Klingons... It's like a Klingon dictionary... :D Care to help matching names and ships when the time comes?

You can give the rest later, when the Rommies, Cardies etc come...

Matress, those names are outstanding!!!! Bravo good job my friend.:goodjob:

:nuke: Cheers, Thor:nuke:

Umm...that's the difficult bit! Except for the Federation, we never recorded what they were!

I can try and do the Klingon ones from BOTF for you, but it'll take me a bit of time to do. The only problem is that they aren't all from BOTF, although most are.

We planned on BOTF2 having massive numbers of ships, so we thought of as many (Plausible) names as we could. We had a methodology for this; for example, Federation Troop Transports were named after major Earth cities/World War Generals, and Science ships were named after great Scientists.

We never finished them though - we couldn't get a straight answer from the devs about whether our ideas would be used (Story of the BOTF2 threads - we're always ignored.)

I could always try and get the thread going again though, although the guy who originally made the thread and was compiling the list no longer visits the forums.

Well, you can be sure they'll be used here! :) Maybe it's easiest if I post the ship and you find the appropriate name. That should save you time...
The Klingon ships are sufferering a minor delay for now, but I'll start the Cardies tomorrow instead. Not that many of those... After that I'll do the Klingons...

"Bones, It seems that I've lost all my hair!"
treksmileymccoy.gif

"Damnit Jim, I'm a Smilie, not a doctor!"

:rotfl: Long time since I laughed like that...

To be honest, I don't really think it matters too much about the names of the ships of the different races. They're in Klingon afterall, and only the most hardcore of Trekkies are gonna complain if there are "mistakes" involving the naming of ships in Klingon...

The system you mentioned sounds ok, Flamand. Remember that i'll only be able to name the ships from BOTF though. ;)

Anyways, here's the Cardies for you:

Ever met a hardcore Trekkie? Scary...
Thanks for the list...

I had fun playing against the Cardassians in Birth of the Federation; their ships always had these really ominous names like the Torturer or the Cruel Fate, but they were always complete pushovers.

Tholians, a Gorn, and that starship from the 23rd century, those episodes were completely insane....thats exactly what the show should have been like from the very beginning, like the 4th season..

Matress, it looks like your Cardie list was based on a possible English fleet influence.:D

:nuke: Cheers, Thorgrimm :nuke:
