Star Trek unit preview thread

I noticed you gave them lasers just like Riker mentioned in one episode of TNG.

Lasers were used until the development of Phaser weapons according to that episode. Enterprise and its sister ship seemed to have a early form of phaser though, maybe a prototype?
 
Probably, since they also had a primitive hand phaser. I'm not sure if and how Thor is going to use the NX in the game, since it's so different from the 'pharmaceutical' fleet...
 
Maybe as an early King unit for Starfleet, upgrades to the first USS Enterprise in the TOS era, which could in turn in the TOSM Era get upgraded to the Enterprise B(have the USS Enterprise appearence change to Enterprise A like the Workers do), and then the Enterprise C. Finally, in the TNG era, have the Enterprise D and finally the Enterprise E.
 
Nah, we want to avoid king units. The AI has no idea how to use it, so you would never see the Enterprise when you're playing the Klingons...
Besides, can a ship be a king unit?
 
If you don't activate Regicide and you don't check the AI flag 'King', you won't have any problems with King units. AI will use it as their other flags'll order, it won't lose if they die and you get your unique unit upgrade line. :)
 
Thanks for the tips, guys, but I think a king-free game would be better. Besides, if there would be a king, it should be the Phoenix... ;)
 
@Thor: Could you please tell me the names of the DD and DDE ships you gave me? And what is the construction ship supposed to do?
I also think you forgot to convert the F111, I only have a mod file.

Animating is going well, finished 5 today and working on number 6 right now... :D

the death on the carrier is amazing. you can see the spars/ruts/beams of the nacelles fly off. its really detailed!
 
@Navy: the planatary defense unit needs to be reanimated to be compatible with the CivIII palette. I will release it in a couple of days. The other units are available by request only until the mod is finished... (aiming for next Fall or so).

@SoG: the Feds are almost finished, only 14 models to go. Then I'll start the Klingons. The Kameri will be out soon, not very hard to animate that one.

@Thor: I think I'll replace the TNG BB you gave me with the Prometheus I already made. Do you agree?

Those models are amazing Flamand!

One small thing though, the sizes seem to be a <bit> out, at least on the first three anyway.

I would have thought the Refit Dreadnaught would be bigger, whilst the Okinawa would be a lot smaller. They all seem to be the same size as the Miranda, unless you made them bigger so we could actually see them...
 
Strictly speaking you may be right Matress, but in this mod the ships may have different functions than in Trek canon simply because there aren't enough ships to fill all necessary functions.So some of them may seem too large or too small...
