The gentle Mon Calamari people brought more than their determination to restore freedom to the galaxy when they joined the Rebel Alliance. They also brought a fleet of powerful capital ships. These immense vehicles were a startling contrast to the rectilinear shapes favored by the Imperial fleet. Whereas the Imperial Star Destroyer resembles a pointed dagger in shape, a Mon Calamari cruiser lacks hard angles, and is covered with ovoid forms suggesting an organic sculpture.

Despite their smooth lines, these vessels pack an enormous punch. Turbolasers, ion cannons, tractor beam projectors and shield generators dot the flowing surface of the ships.

Perhaps the most important Mon Cal cruiser during the Galactic Civil War was the Home One, the Headquarters Frigate that served as Admiral Ackbar's flagship, and the traveling headquarters of the Rebel Alliance after the Battle of Hoth. Home One engaged Imperial vessels during the Battle of Endor, and survived intact. Other Mon Cal cruisers weren't so lucky -- several were atomized by searingly powerful blasts from the second Death Star's superlaser cannon.

Looking great as usual, Morpheus! :goodjob: How did you make that sparkling effect in the death?

I'm using the Glow-Effect of OpenFX. The last post image process is a "Glow" effect. The settings are "hot" and the key color is a dark grey, so that the dark grey regions of the dust will glow.

Awesome! :goodjob:
This is going right into Freespace.

Just DL a bunch of space ships from star trek and star wars and voila! Custom built fleet.

Hmm... 2 Home Ones,. This one I think is better, so I think w'ell use this one as the Home One capital ship, and jobiwan's as the MC-80/85, :), that way both can be used.

I hope someone makes an MC 90, and MC 100. Theres all sorts of fictional calmari cruisers I loved playing with that were made for the game X-wing allaince...

I might be able to help you out on that one...I've been working on converting XWA units for possible use in OpenFX, and so far they're looking like they'll work. So if I get a chance, I'll see if I can pop out a MC-90 and MC-100. I just need to finish the falcon first :-P

Also, could you give a little more info on that sparkle in the death? I'd like to try it in my units.

The fireball effect is a post image effect, the glow effect too.
If you add a glow effect at the end of the post image effect list you will get this sparkle effect at the end of the animation and sometimes some cool effects during the whole animation :crazyeye:
You has the experiment with the key color to get the best result.
Here my normal settings for the glow effect:

Theres also the fictional MC-75. If you look around on the XWA sites, you are bound to come across alot of decent OPT files which you can convert...its great to see another fan of that game..:)

BTW what MC number are the Mediator and the Viscount?
