Notes: Salzburg is so named for the large salt mines of the city, a massive source of income, due to the highly prized nature of salt in these times. It is centrally located in Europe, also, which means it has the potential to become a burgeoning trade center. It is also highly defensible, being in the Alps as it is.
 
Hmm i think i will need tactics for my war against this rogue clan... time to think.

Here's my last orders for Yan (I won’t/don't plan on making it past this round as Yan, might as well go out with a bang ;) . I’ll lurk for an update or two before deciding which to re-join as, if that’s ok with you :) )

-Split the nation into 2, the north will be a Manchurian nation whose independence will have to be protected by themselves. The south (from shanhai gate and below) will surrender/join the Shu.
-Use 2 economies (I thought about using all I have but I figured I shouldn’t starve the population) to raise military. Make a call throughout the nation for volunteers and alike to defend china proper. To the Manchurians tell them if they help defeat the Mongols now their new nation will be better off. Raise 450 of my UU (have to use them at least once!), as well as any volunteer/conscript manchurian horsemen and 500 longbowmen.
-Send scouts ahead to track the Mongol path of movement. Use whatever means necessary (taunt them, challenge them, lure them with traps/feigns…) to have a final showdown with them in the following setting:

Brown = elevated areas/hills

Deployment:
-The longbowmen (B) and Wolf Cavalry & Manchurian conscript/volunteer (WC) will be in hiding. The cavalry will be hiding deep in the forest, where as the longbowmen will lie flat on the ground to avoid being seen.
-The archers (b) will be in hiding in the forests as well, but they will not be that deep in the forest.
-The Spearmen/conscripts (S) will line up a bit infront of the entrance of the pass and beside the forests, to avoid the flank getting attacked by the mongols (horses don't go in forest well). They will carry large pieces of wood/shield to cover themselves from mongol archery, thus forcing them to result in close combat.

Military Operation:
-The mongols will come riding hard on the spearmen. When they go between the forests, the archers will expose themselves and fire at the mongols from the side. Naturally, this will not be enough, but it'll trick the mongols into thinking that's the only ambush we have. It goes in accordance with their intelligence of my military before i drafted the new troops. When the mongols meet the spearmen, have them fight as best as they could, but eventually they will lose ground (wouldn't have to do so on purpose, sadly) and retreat into the pass. By this point the archers will also retreat in the direction of the pass.
-When some of the mongols have entered the past, the longbowmen will stand up and reveal themselves. They will start by having some non-longbowmen/conscripts raising/waving silks/bronze mirrors/anything that reflects the sunlight. This will blind the mongols temporarily, at which point a pre-set trap of rocks will be activated to cut the mongols in two. The longbowmen will fire at the mongols in the pass as well at this point (the retreating spearmen/archers will also fight back). The WC will now ride out and attack the rear flanks of the mongols left outside the pass, with support from above with the longbowmen. Their strategy will be firing arrows from far first (using the specially made bows with a longer range than the mongol ones) to cause even more confusion amongst them, then charging in to deal the lethal blow.

P.S. have the emperor with the spearmen to make mongols believe this is my full army


By the end of the battle, if i win, the survivors can have their choice of retiring, joining Shu or the manchurian nation. If i lose, make sure to kill as many mongols as possible such that they'll retreat and hopefully won't return for a long while :)

Oooh that would be interesting... though im far off and isolated in the east so if you follow the trend and start in the west it will be some time before we meet.

mmkay, since you had time to do that and not send orders....I think Ive reached a point where this needs to be asked.

Would you guys (meaning everyone still in the NES) prefer I open another NES and close this one?

After modding this, I think anything else will be a piece of cake honestly, but only if you guys want it.

Options of course would be a das PoD, or a historical setting....I would leave it up to a poll.
 
Update! I don't want more industrial age NES's we got more than enough and their never truly interesting like a fresh start.
