staznesVIII: A Walk in Hell

In other words, South Carolina should be drafting another declaration about subsisting unions about now...

South Carolina said:
AN ORDINANCE to dissolve the union between the State of South Carolina and other States united with her under the compact entitled "The Constitution of the United States of America."

We, the people of the State of South Carolina, in convention assembled, do declare and ordain, and it is hereby declared and ordained, That the ordinance adopted by us in convention on the twenty-third day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-eight, whereby the Constitution of the United States of America was ratified, and also all acts and parts of acts of the General Assembly of this State ratifying amendments of the said Constitution, are hereby repealed; and that the union now subsisting between South Carolina and other States, under the name of the "United States of America," is hereby dissolved.

Done at Charleston the twentieth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty.

OOC: it might have been a smarter move is the CSA created an apprenticeship system like the British did when they abolished slavery to have a smooth transition instead of the current "You are free but.. ehm.. not quite" aproach.
Anyway i doubt that the rich landowners will stand for it and since they are the heart of the economy, industry and the political muscle behind the CSA government, well in wont be pretty.... ;)

Isnt that....kind of against the point of the whole damn war?

No, not really. The "point of the whole damn war" was northern domination of the US government prior to the secession.

There WAS a plan to free the slaves - when the things got really desperate, but they haven't here. And the whole point of it was to get lots of cannon-meat to throw at the Northerners, whereas Jason seems to want to confine them, which is neither here nor there.

I'd say things are pretty desperate with 120 new elite divisions being recruited by the Union, my country being cut in two, and getting absolutely no where in Europe with the current laws of my country.

Like, way out of hand. Like, Confederacy overthrowing its President kind of out of hand. There is no way that can be allowed.

If its not allowed, I'm quitting. There is no way in an NES that the mod should disallow something because its not "historically accurate." We are not rewriting a text book here, this is our own spin on what happened after 1961 or whenever the NES started. It is absurd to have something "not allowed" in an NES.

And the landowning class have two options: accept some form of emancipation now, or complete emancipation when the Union troops come by and forcefully free the slaves and burn their plantations.

And that is all I am going to say about explaining my actions, only done in the spirit of this current generation.

"Not allowed" I suppose is an inaccurate description of what I meant. "Harshly punished" is more accurate. That's what would have happened in true history.

Still, why lock them up instead of giving them weapons and commiting a few fellows with gattling guns to make sure they don't run away? That was the general idea behind the OTL 1865 plan...

You must remember that the CSA is, afterall, only a confederacy. The President has little power over the states, so they very well could choose to keep slavery despite the President's decision, rather than be dominated over by the executive branch.

Also, wouldn't saying "accept some form of emancipation now, or complete emancipation when the Union troops come by and forcefully free the slaves and burn their plantations," be a bit demorazlizing to your troops and people, like saying you have no chance at all?

Actually if I were his people, I would only fight harder :p I mean after all, when France got invaded after the French Revolution, everyone worked real hard to resist :)

Can we PLEASE shut up with the OOC!? For goodness sake, this is getting ridiculous. I can barely navigate half the NESes I'm in due to all the darn "well I think blah blah blah about your decisions."

There's be less OOC if we could have updates, every NES I'm in is waiting for one.

MEHTAH HUNGRY! MEHTAH EAT UPDATES! RAWR!!!

What is the positioning on the update, mod Azale?

holy crap there was a lot of spam, anyway what is the deal with the ottomans and portugal? and france to now?

and isn't CSA giving blacks rights just a tad bit, just a tiny bit OOC? just a thought

OC: I hearbyy declare nothing in this NES will ever be OOC, so can we all cut the Spam and the your wrong i'm right.

IC: The People and Government of Switzerland congradulate the people of America for abolishing slavery in all its forms.

OOC: Who eles has slaves in the Americas now?

jesus christ has every NES gone completely insane?? STOP THE BLOODY OOC seriously, just wait for the update PLEASE! and that is mostly you swiss

Well, my OOC had a point, unless you think Switzerland should encourage slavery. And i'm only an OOC reactionary, and i try to add IC to evry OOC.

IC:

To the World
From: Switzerland

Whats up?

OOC: Who eles has slaves in the Americas now?

I'll probably get rid of it around the same time in real life, probab in the 80. (For whoever cares).

Historical post 1861 Slavery Abolition dates of major nations (Ottoman empire not listed, probably becouse they practiced it untill they were dissolved, dont know about spain.)
# The Netherlands: 1863, including all colonies
# The United States: 1865, after the U.S. Civil War (Note: abolition occurred in some states before 1865)
# Brazil: 1888
# China: 1910

From: Netherlands
To: European Nations

King William of the Netherlands wishes to register his opposition to the concept of Switzerland gaining overseas colonies, and at Switzerland's expansionism that goes against the spirit of the treaty of Swiss neutrality.
