staznesX: All Under Heaven

I'll take France.

Insane_Panda, you saw my post, right? Anyway, if you're implying something other then such, I am going to be playing a normal game this time.

Hahaha, what a mess. Ok...

France- Insane Panda
Hungary- BTM
SaxonyPoland- NWAG?

So it has been spoken. Stats are still being worked in my the word file.

I wanted to play a major power, so I'm not settling for Saxony-Poland. Quitting.

Let it be known.

ORDERS DUE SUNDAY, 11 PM CENTRAL STANDARD TIME, AUGUST 17NTH

I wanted to play a major power, so I'm not settling for Saxony-Poland. Quitting.

OOC: You had your major power in Sweden, you threw it away because you chose to play in a certain way in a deliberate manner. The fact that you chose to play as you did was of your own volition, you can't seriously expect to go ruin a major power and then get another one with promises to play a "normal game."

OOC: I decided to play it as a story NES, because that's what we were playing. Later on, I realized that nobody takes that idea seriously, and decided to play out Sweden's saga to the end. That has come, so I decided I'd try for a new major.

OOC: One can play realistically and still play as a story NES, the fact that your definition of a story NES is to play completely out of the norm and against the interest of your nation (which you, as the ruling family or rulers of a nation would mostly support). However, that could have ended well if you had decided to change your minds and launch your own coup but as you chose to "play out Sweden's saga to the end", and essentially weaken Sweden. But since you decided to leave that behind and knowingly launched Sweden on a suicidal path, why should you be given a second chance at a major power?

OOC: Honestly, Sweden's "saga" isn't at an end. If I didn't already have a kickass nation, I would take the new Swedish Republic.

OOC: I do not mind if NWG3 chooses to retake Sweden :)

Treaty of Kyoto, 1752

With the defeat of the Kokuate of Japan’s navy, and the Chinese landings on Honshu as well as the seizure of Awaji Island (a seizure which threatens Kyoto itself), the Kokuate of Japan was forced to surrender to the Nan-Ming Empire. In response, His Imperial Majesty the Paowu Emperor with the advice of the War Board dispatched his emissary, Lord Wang Mingku with the terms of surrender to Japan.

1. The Japanese Emperor will recognize the supremacy of the Chinese Emperor and pay fitting tribute.
2. Hokkaido will be released as a sovereign state under Ainu rule under the protection of the Chinese Empire.
3. All Japanese port cities capable of foreign trade in addition to Kyoto and Tokyo will possess a Nan-Ming military garrison.
4. All religious structures and people in Japan will be exempted from taxation.
5. Japan shall have a fleet no larger than 20 Frigates at Regular quality with no man-of-war.
6. There shall be no restrictions on the size or quality of Japan’s standing army, but Japan’s military basic will not rise above Regular.
7. All cultural artifacts, including but not limited to, paintings, pottery, and ceremonial weapons wrongfully seized from Korea in the Korean-Japanese war by Toyotomi Hideyoshi are to be returned.
8. All Japanese decisions on foreign policy must be submitted to Hangzhou for Chinese authorization prior to any official position.
9. Lastly all, if any, educational material in Japan must be approved by the Chinese Government in Hangzhou.

By the will of the Emperor,
Lord Wang Mingku

His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of Nan-Ming China,

Emperor Paowu

His Royal Highness the Emperor of Japan,

I'd quite like to take Venice, but she seems to be lacking stats. Is there reason, or is it merely an oversight?

@perfectionist, Definitely an oversight...not quite sure how that happened. You are welcome to them and the new stats for them will be coming along shortly.

The Emperor of Japan agrees to the Treaty of Kyoto.

OCC: Asking them to give up Kyushu is a bit much don't you think? You've got a thousand years worth of irrendentism right there and a long and costly occupation. With military bases in the ports and a weakened navy (you've left it so weak it can't stop smuggling btw) you can isolate each of the japanese islands at will and don't need to formally annex an island.
Remember how much wasting money brought down the first Ming ;).
Also the Ainu are hardly capable of being a state at this point .

Edit at azale:  of couuurse they do.

The problem was not the having a story, it was the having an outright silly one.

My strategy was not silly, but actually made sense. It was premised on the quite plausible turn of events of a king who supported a more traditional approach.

Dis, don't try to change alex's position on anything. I gave up long ago, and you know how stubborn I am.

NWAG, I actually admire what you tried to do (though you kind of overdid it). I think a lot of people here conflated your attempts to make an interesting 'history' with just being a noob, though. Not every king has been a competent bugger, after all. I recommend playing more competently earlier on, though, because that way you can get a better reputation, then after that you can have fun trashing your own countries. Like Stormbringer.
