Cuivienen has been posting in OT the past few days. I hope she will fill us in on whether or not this game will continue. The uncertainty is the worst part. I was looking forward to this game (my first NES) and if it is dead, then I could at least move on to another. I'm surprised she hasn't said something.

These things sometime happen. You can technically play in as many as 3 NESes without causing a huge time problem for yuorself. I'd give a shot for some other two and keep monitoring this one.
