High spending in the Syrian government shows signs of corruption the first for this country as thousands of pounds of gold are wasted on army upgrades. The economy, unable to sustain such a painful spending spree, has nearly collapsed in upon itself, the people now living in poverty.
The Lorraine surrender their last city in hopes for everlasting peace the nation surrenders. However, in the terms of surrendering, the King of Lorraine has become the governor of the province of Lorraine, retaining much of his former power. This has helped to stop any anti-occupation riots and rebellions that may have occurred from the Lorraine.
The Mongol hordes do not stop. Pushing past the powerful Persian armies, the horde crashes through to the fertile lands of Persia near the coast. The Mongols have cut off the army in India from supplies, but the Persians quickly seize every ocean going vessel in the Arabian Sea and use it for transporting goods to India for battle. The battles are gigantic. Only in Europe do the battles ever get larger then this. In one battle, the Battle of Zaranj, the Persians had amassed 3,000 men to put a stop to the Mongols. Lining up in traditional battle forms, and according to the ancient Persian tactics that have worked so well for them in the past, they await the Mongol horde to come marching over the hill. But instead of marching, the Mongols are galloping upon their horses, making such a loud thunder in the ground that many Persians retreat. When the Mongol forces slams into the Persian wall of Pikemen, the battle goes to chaos. Instead of forming up in small groups and fighting, the Persians are dispersed among the chaos of the Mongol horsemen and mopped up. Nearly a thousand die in this battle alone.
Casualties: 1,500 Persians, 900 Mongols
With the union of the two Alpine states, Austria and Switzerland, into the Alpine Union comes a dramatic shift of power in Europe. Now with an economy to support a huge army, and an army of moderate size, Southern Europe is now not without a power or influence.
India and Portugal unite temporarily to deal with the war of conquest of their nation. Meanwhile, Portuguese forces are dispersed throughout their country. In Egypt, a force to be reckoned with attempts to search for the Pharaoh, but is unable to locate him in the huge population of Egypt. Meanwhile, the Egyptians begin to form their own militia army of peasants, totaling a astounding 10,000 men. This army of farmers proceeds to the north where the 1,000 Portuguese army lands and has fought them to a standstill.
Casualties: 500 Portuguese, 3,000 Egyptians
Meanwhile, Portuguese forces continue their pursuit into Ethiopia, not taking hardly any casualties, but bypassing the city for simplicity. Yet more Portuguese forces land in India and help push the Persians back, with little resistance and casualties.
Nearly the whole Portuguese fleet ascends on the small peninsula of Sparta, blocking any ship from leaving or coming to the port. The blockade has successfully stopped any food from going in also, starving most of the Spartan populace that cannot support itself. Food from Greece helps but isnt enough. No other county north wants to send food due to the raids on Bosnia that the Spartans were behind. Many innocent Spartans die because of this, and anti-Portuguese sentiment rises.
Casualties: 12 Spartan Caravels, 8 Portuguese Luggers, 15,000 Spartan Civilians
But before the Portuguese fleet arrives in Sparta, they had to break through a huge blockade at the Straights of Sicily. Stopping all Iberian trade, the Roman and allied ships have stopped all west-east traffic in the Mediterranean for the Iberians. Galician (switched it back, from Austurias), Portuguese, and Aragonese ships arrive on scene to clear it out, and clear it out they did. With an overwhelming superiority in the sea, the Roman and Allied vessels are completely wiped out. Venetian vessels, suppose to aid the Romans in the blockade, chickened out at the last second.
Casualties: 17 Roman Caravels, 5 Portuguese Luggers, 5 Aragonese Caravels, 5 Aragonese Luggers, 10 Galician Caravels, 10 Tripolitian Caravels
Meanwhile, Western Africa becomes a riot. This is where the bulk of the Portuguese army goes to invade Kissi. Pushing past the initial Kissi defenses, the Portuguese army spreads through the land. Reaching a north village of Kai, the Portuguese discover and capture a group of Roman generals.
Casualties: 600 Syrians, 700 Portuguese
A populace-backed invasion of the Northern Portuguese African colony by Mali fully annexes the country. The population of the colony supports the foreign army.
Meanwhile, new relations work up between the two former enemies of Muscovy and Prussia. Negotiations took place between the emperor, Sheep, and Nicholas of Muscovy in Moscow. The result was a new brotherhood between the nations known as Emperors Pact.
Ceylon continues to advance into Dravidia and India, with little casualties.
Casualties: 500 Ceylonese, 200 Dravidian, 100 Portuguese
Aragonese navy goes under huge redevelopment as the triremes are upgraded to a newer and larger ships, capable of defending the Aragonese provinces afar. Aragonese missionaries for Reformed Amonism are also dispatched to Tripoli, where they begin to try and convert more followers. Unfortunately for them, the Tripolitians are also converting rapidly to Christianity, so Amonism seems to have competition.
Vinland continues to expand in the new land, but rowdy natives have seemed to catch onto the Swedish intentions. Vinland is under constant attack now by random native tribes.
Swedish troops land in Holland! The Dutch, preparing for an invasion in the east, quickly withdraw before they begin to invade to counter this threat. The bulk of the force lands near Amsterdam, while a smaller force accompanies British troops! A force of two thousand invades western Holland. This amphibious landing is quite surprising to the Dutch, who have just finished their war in Lorraine. Amsterdam falls, while Paris is under siege. The entire country is almost overrun, only spots of resistance and Paris remain.
Casualties: 750 Swedish, 800 British, 1,350 Dutch
The Polish begin to take advantage of their superior market by charging tariffs and other taxes. This has little impact upon the merchants trading, but a huge impact on the Polish economy. Utilizing the wealth, the Polish build up an economy worthy to that of Portugal. Meanwhile, the Polish have begun use their wealth by attacking the neighbor, Thrace. The forces have pushed as far as the Danube, but the Thracians have burned every bridge and have huge concentrations of troops where there are natural crossings. Looking bleak as the Thracians regroup, a surprise comes to the Polish. A Byzantine invasion is reporting to have happened in the south, the Byzantines taking advantage of the pre-occupied Thracians and have set siege to the Thracian capital.

With the cutting of trade with Aragon and Portugal, and the invasion of Portuguese Southern Africa, the Ashanti populace has had enough. Throwing up their work gloves, they proclaim that they will not work until the government repairs relations with the Portuguese, who has built their country up from ashes and asked for nothing in return but friendship. They proclaim that Rome has done nothing for them, while Portuguese have given more land to Ashanti in the north, helped them defeat Nigeria, beat the barbarians back from their capital, and built roads, canals, dikes, homes, and towns with their own money and army, and asked for nothing in return but friendship. This strike, first one in history, has put the Ashanti economy at a total depression.
The British began to sail the Portuguese mercenaries back to Portugal, and with word of their arrival, the Portuguese gather at Lisbon where they will arrive to throw a parade. Unfortunately, word comes from a lone Portuguese who escaped upon a lifeboat that the British had poisoned all the mercenaries and they ships had turned back to Britain. Outraged, the public demands that Portugal honor the lives that were murdered.
The Romans have launched a full attack against the Aragonese in Sicily. Surprised, the Aragonese garrison regroups only after half of the island falls to the Romans. Launching a counterattack, they manage to equal out the casualties, but then surrenders the island. The populace rises up in celebration of the Roman liberators.
Casualties: 400 Aragonese, 400 Romans
The Somali begin to attack the Ethiopians on their main turf, first landing troops at the Red Sea coastal city, more mercenaries from Portugal, and then invading through the south. Using the roads to their advantage, they are able to surround the Ethiopian capital all with little casualties as the Ethiopians fleet the battles at site of the rejuvenated Somali behemoth.
A Japanese assassin is caught in Yamato trying to assassinate the clan leader. The Yamato clan is furious, the people furious, and the leader even more furious. With the unfolding of many more assassinations of top leaders and generals, the Yamato prepare for war.

Sorry to those who are not in Europe for lack of NPC interaction this update, I am completely bogged down with European things. I promise, once I get a handle on things in Europe, I will try to make things more interesting for you too.
