stJNES8: Of Empires

no, your trade stat only increases the amount of revenue you make from trade. You can only trade regularly, and the higher your trade stat is, the more you can trade effeciently and the more you will make off of trade.

Nope!

To: Hadhramaut & Saba

Greetings neighbours. I hope we will live peacefully next to each other. Further we would like to trade with you (No trade route. Just trade) to let our nations prosper.

Orders:
-grow good chariots
-continue to guard the northern border and Mecca

OOC: To make it easier I would like to change the names of my units. Don´t want 32 different types of chariots in this nes... Please make my light chariots good chariots now. They did cost the same.

@tossi: the good and poor and militia stuff are training levels.

@emu: that is not complaining ;). Babylon increased their military more then you did, and they have a higher population so can increase a little more.

Update later tonight.

Architecture wasn't a trait normally valued by the Carthaginians, but with the recent embarrassment involving the city of Carthage's appearance, it has suddenly because VERY valuable. Hundreds of people started trying to learn advanced architectural techniques in an attempt to "spruce up" the city's dull layout.

In the meantime, General Hannibal continued his three-pronged assault on the Numidians. The two main prongs of attack -- recently named "Corp" -- advance from the newly-built city of Utica [constructed on former Numidian lands]. The lesser third prong -- or Third Corp -- continues its march farther to the south.

Though lackluster compared to empires such as Rome or Phoenicia, Carthage had aspirations and determination. Only through hard work and a little bit of luck would the Carthaginians achieve any sort of greatness...

Orders:

1) Increase the infrastructure through the building of new, better buildings.

2) Continue the three-pronged attack using the same military units as previously, according to the map provided.

3) Build the cities of Utica and Leptis Magna as according the the map provided.

EDIT: Ah crap, I forgot the map!

Update V – 1200b.c.e.

Events:

Roddynians, unlike the rest of the world, has had an army of peasants and lower class citizens. Instead of allowing them to make a living off of the army and make nothing of themselves, the King has stated that any officer will be a fully educated soldier of the nation. This has led to a better-organized and intelligent army. Moreover, the borders expand with the army, making it the largest nation on Earth.

The Norwegian princess embarrassingly denied an invitation to marriage with the Swedish prince, sending even colder vibes throughout the rich of Sweden. Having enough, many nobles raise armies and band together, forming an army of nearly two hundred men. Marching upon Norway, this army of peasants was quickly destroyed but the Norwegians continued to march into Sweden.

Meanwhile in Phoenicia, a series of bloody coups have resulted in the formation of a union of city-states, whose prince’s elected the King who would rule the union with absolute power. This is the first form of some sort of election in the Middle East. The new King, noticing the problem of overpopulated in Canaan by Canaanites, decided to grant independence to the people. The new nation of Canaan is created, with the capital of Jerusalem. However, many Phoenicians remain in Canaan, and are greatly mistreated by the new settlers. Also, with the increase of population in the area, canals and paved roads are built to better suit the populace – and that of the colonies. Meanwhile, an army is raised from Tyre, five hundred archers. However, as the colonies grow, the need for better protection rises. Especially in Africa, barbarian raiders forever attack the colony. Everywhere the army of Phoenicia is stretched to it’s limit.

Forums and beautiful gardens throughout the cities of Songhai have been commandeered and converted into polluting, wasteful and disturbing forges that are used to smelt iron for the military campaigns in the north. Many richer people are upset that their beautiful cities are being turned into dirty wastelands. However, the weapon making is effective in keeping the soldiers supplied with new swords and spears, as the Mali are pushed back in a show of spectacular militarism. However, the harsh terrain is taking it’s toll on the army, as more die of dehydration and fatigue each day.

As the final touches are put on to the mines outside Bresluea, and to the forges insde the city, the Prussian army marches. Heard from four miles away, the German army masses to defend the city behind the meager walls that were formed ages ago. However, the Prussians have an unexpected surprise. As the Germans are crouched underneath their protective stonewall that encircles the whole city, a hail of stones fall from the sky on to the defensive structures. As if the whole world was shaking, the walls crumbled to the might of the soaring stones. Unable to compete, the Germans are ordered to retreat to the town, where door-to-door fight occurs. Much of the city is destroyed in barrages from the Prussian catapults (- Defense), and the forges are most definitely captured by the Prussians (- industry), but the battle still wages on as 400 Germans remain in the city.

A huge Sarmatian migration, from the country to the city of Sarmatia built by the Muscovites so long ago, has resulted in the bolster of Muscovite urban areas. Trying to make a living, most turn to farming or blacksmithy, creating a steady industry base of Muscovy (+ industry).

Greek Anatolian population grows as the Macedonians occupy the land. A new city-state, Lidio, arises in the Macedonian area, further securing the stability of the region. Meanwhile, attempts to expand northwards have resulted in the contact of a new and powerful nation – Byzantium. Also, pirates in the now infested Mediterranean Sea ambushed an exploration galley sent by Macedonia. The galley was never heard from again.

More soldiers are recruited from the dirt-poor cities of Assyria, where water is scarce and roads are barely noticeable. Moral is lessening as they notice the Babylonian cleanliness of their cities. However, the Assyrians fight well, defeating the Babylonians in almost every battle as they pull back. However, the Hittites finally attack, storming from the north and encountering very little resistance in the northern deserts. It wasn’t until the gates of Nineveh until the reserve army was conjured up. Also, two rival city-states arise into nations in the east, Media creates the Median Empire, and Persipolis is home to Persia.

Meanwhile, in Arabia the Hyksos mysteriously have disappeared – nobody knows where they have gone. However, Hadhramaut and Saba have signed a military alliance, agreeing that whatever one pledges to, the other one shall too. Many grow scared of the joint alliance, and a possible attack against Macoroba.

As new cities sprout up all around Carthage due to the increase of trading profits, so do the quality of the homes and buildings that have been done in Carthage itself. In the market, the surrounding homes and structures are now made out of either polished stone or wood, getting rid of the mud-brick Egyptian look. In accordance with the war, the Carthaginians make great strides in the offensive form, capturing tribal lands and killing many of the Numidian fighters, though they are getting tougher and more determined to end it with Carthage.

Scythian horsemen are now pronounced the most effective and best trained horsemen in the world as they battle with minor tribes in the Caucus Mountains and with steppe barbarians in the north. However, Scythia controls very little valuable land, many are poor and are before the projected poverty line.

The great desert to the northeast is finally overcome, as the first army is crossed under the flags of Egypt. As they met with the borders of Canaan, the Egyptian military celebrates to know that the desert finally ends. Meanwhile, Chacotis is becoming increasingly more powerful, as the wealth of the nation is stationed at the harbors of this huge and prosperous city. Increase skirmishes with various Nubian tribes keep the Egyptians on their toes.

Attempts to diplomatically get the surrounding barbarian tribes to join with Rome have resulted in disaster as the tribes resist Romanization to the fullest. Meanwhile, in preparing for a war they believe is surly coming, cut trade with Rome, which does little harm to Rome but much harm to Etrusca.

Aragon and Spain continue to duel it out as the Spanish finally gain a hand in the defensive tactics. They have fought the Aragonese to a standstill, and a peace treaty has finally been signed, allotting the Aragonese anything north of the central river. Also, an Aragonese population on the islands to the east, under Phoenician command, protest to join the Aragonese nation. So far the King of Aragon has released no information on how to react.
