Update 1 - 2400 BCE

The time of disorganized tribes, no central authorities, has ended across the world. Tribes remain, but amongst them a select few have managed to unite under their leaders - in some places, an Emperor, others a council of the tribal chieftains, or a council of the high priests - and form small empires around their first towns - the capitals.

In North America, the one prominent civilization is that of the Aztecs, who have begun their empire in the city of Tenochtitlan, a basically artificial island-city. Will this genius with which they built their capital help them overcome possible threats to their imperial expansion?

In Europe, the Gutans, most powerful among the Gothic tribes of Scandinavia, have established their seat of power around Scandza, poised to impose their will upon their brothers to the west and south. Eastward, a Finno-Ugric people has established their empire as Sinimustvalge Karjal, Äänislinna being their capital, prepared to take the rest of Karelia - or Karjal - into their great new nation.

West of both the Gutan Empire and that Sinimustvalge Karjal, are Cantivelliaunii, centered in London. Further south, the Portuguese have settled in Lisbon and united their fellow tribes near the settlement into the empire of Portugalia. Going back east, a Roman Empire has been declared in the town of Rome, smack-dab in the middle of their peninsula. Further even are the Dacians in the plains north of the Danube.

In Asia, the Israelite high priests have begun their rule over the Israelite tribe, promising to guide the tribe to glory on this world and glory with their god. In Mesopotamia, the Tigris-Euphrates river valley, the Babylonian Empire, its namesake being their capital city Babylon, have also made their presence known. Down southeast of both these civilizations are the Travancore, at the southwest coasts of their peninsula, ready to expand further with the help of their multi-armed deities.

Another batch of empires has begun much more eastward in Asia. They are the Fuzhou, in the southeast coasts, as well as the Koreans, up north in the Korean Peninsula. A third civilization is that of the Nihon. All of these are also rising to prominence in the region. How long until there emerges a violent conflict of interests?

In the Southern Hemisphere, in Australia, eastern Aborigine tribesmen have made their lone empire in Sydney. But will their other Aborigine brethren join peacefully, or will a rival alliance form to prevent Sydney's domination of the continent, which, so far, is devoid of any other form of central government?

Moving back westward in the Southern Hemisphere lies the vast continent of Africa, where several civilizations have formed. In the offshore, sizeable island of Madagascar is the civilization of Malagasy, with its tribal council meeting to discuss their affairs in Toliara. On the continent itself are the Ethiopians in the sub-Sahara, and the Mamelukes at the Nile River Delta. Both may some day meet along the shores of the Nile River... Will they ally or will they fight? More westward, by its lonesome on the shores of the Niger River is the Songhai Empire, with its Shaman oligarchs ruling from Gao.

Finally, on the continent of South America are the beginnings of an Inca Empire in Cuzco. So far they, much like the Australians, have no organized competition to domination of the continent. Will they continue to be unchallenged? If not, how long until they have to do battle?

Amongst the numerous tribes that are numerous but not yet organized or settled down are the Sioux, Iroquois and Maya of North America; the Amazons of South America; the Goths, Germans, Franks, and Slavs of Europe; the Berbers and Zulus of Africa; the Armenians, Arabs, Turkics, Persians, Pashtuns, and Tatars of Asia; the Aborigines of Australia. Will all these tribes become empires and join the worldwide community of central civilizations? Or will they continue wandering, occasionally raiding the existing empires for supplies? Or maybe they will join the already-established empires? Only time will tell.

How long until these empires have to fight their first wars? How long until they become masters of their domains? Or servants of superior civilizations?

I'm an awful Newbie when it comes to things like this so I'm fine with leaving or playing a minimal role if you would prefer.

Welcome.
But don't worry you will get the hang of it, and don't be shy at all. The more maximal role you play the funner, more interesting this will be (and this goes for all players) and the more "maximal" you are, the faster you will be able to get the hang of playin the NES.

Tell that to the Pashtuns. I put them there because just as I was about to finalize the map for this first update, I noticed that you were left quite alone and open. hehe

Maybe a little farther northeast, 'cause of Osaka, but thereabouts.

MjM: Ehhh Korea was the last nation I added on the map so I guess I must've just drawn a line through the half-peninsula without zooming out to see how big it looked in comparison. Let's just say that by the next update it will be that big (I'm not gonna change it now), so in the next map, Korea will not be bigger, but just the same size it already is.
