StKNES5: A New Lease on NES

i quit this... lost interest... the stats frustrate me, the rules frustrate me more and more... i just don't understand why an entire econ lvl has to be sacrficed to upgrade army... and army and navy seperately at that. it just takes way to much of a toll on the econ and takes to much time... this is such a great and legendary NES and i hate to leave it but... yea...

As is has been for years past, And as it will always be, our countries are one.
Eirian Christianity is the rope that binds us. We have heard of the revolts in France and Iberia and have come to the dicision that we would be willing to lend you 4,000 infantry units out of are army to help ease the trouble rising in Iberia and France.

i don't understand why everyone is *****ing about the whole economy level going down for upgrades. every single NES i've been in has had it this way - honestly. and i've been in really good ones like stjnes4 and stjnes5, and i remember that from there as well. and yet i have not heard anyone then complain about it. so why is this any different? why is there a line forming to complain about these rules, some of which have been in place in many previous good, strong NESs?
u kno what? i'm tired of getting crap from everyone about the same goddamn thing every other week. the rules are not perfect but i've been going through a hundred revisions trying to get it right and u know what? the rules will NEVER BE perfect, but i TRIED. but no, it's not enough, it's never enough. then i got people every other turn who seem to be unable to do the simplest thing of copy and paste their stats into the stupid PM box even though they've done it many times before.
i'm not expecting all-praise or anything like that, and if i make a mistake i welcome u to notify me within reasonable time (as in NOT 2 weeks after the fact when i don't remember anything i did or didn't do anymore), point out the mistake, correct me. hell, even w/ rules, if u think something would work better, feel free to suggest it and i will consider the suggestion and try to test it out. but people keep complaining about the same damn thing 500 million times without offering ANY alternative AT ALL.
it's over. no more. u can all go find some NES that fits ur style of rules, because mine apparently were never good enough, aren't good enough, and never will be good enough.

to players who just joined, i'm sorry, i'm sure i would've loved to have u longer, but i honestly can't take it anymore. my NESing time is over.

That really sucks....please reconsider.

I think the issue is that the economy is much harder to increase then in other NESes, so sacrificing an entire level is much more significant...

indeed it is, it should be 3-4 econ points, i mean if people say sacrificing an econ lvl is to much, you should know that spending less would be better... like you always say, common sense

well then fine i'm going to consider lowering the cost a little but don't count on me letting u upgrade both navy and army in one fell swoop, 2 for the price of 1.

and since we're mapping out all the issues right now, elaborate, kentharu on what you mean by the stats frustrating you?
what the hell is wrong with the stats? what's the problem? i don't think it's so difficult to highlight, copy, and paste the stats into the PM. i can assure you that it takes a lot less time and concentration to do that than actually editing and fixing the stats of everyone and NPCs requires during updates. what do you suggest is an alternative for the stats, because apparently even this simple thing, i'm unable to do right for you

and what takes too long? increasing economy? well, earlier it took a lot less time but it was way too easy for people to get up to the highest level. there's a reason i increased it so much, that i forbade people from increasing it by more than 1 point per turn. i didn't just do it because i felt like it. and this is one thing that i am NOT going to change if i reconsider ending this.

EDIT: and most of you have huge militaries now, anyway, a lot more, honestly, than i'm comfortable with, so don't even try telling me that the increasing rule and the losing half the military during upgrade is too harsh because the former, i already think it's lenient and very number-happy, and the latter is a feature in most NESs i've been in.

lossing numbers doesn't bother me and yes upgrading both army and navy in one swoop would be much easier, increasing economy im fine with, i got enough from trade and what not to sustain, but with the sacrficing of econ lvls to upgrade your army, and the economy hardly ever recovering (random events?)

also, it was very disheartening for me because i put in a lot of planning into my orders, especially the social part where i outlined how the colonies worked. also all the trade deals i was getting would have increased my econ... i never forgot to put stats in my orders except for my first 2 turns or something, and that was because i was a noob and didn't understand the rules, now i do, and they aren't all that. Your NES, for me, however will still remain my best, your updates, the best, your a fair guy and very blunt (sometimes to blunt)

but my reason for quitting remains the same, i just didn't have much interest anymore, because of my exams i wasn't able to send orders or write stories and it got me disconnected from my nation... everything else just added to it

my apologies Kam and i hope you keep this nes going... just without me, ya know?

i'll continue this, cuz i put a lot of work into it and i really like it.

i'll consider rule changes but u kno what? i'm not gonna be trying to appease people. screw it. it's impossible, and i'm tired of it.
u don't like the rules? u wanna complain? then offer me better, workable alternatives, or else shut ur trap. cuz the whole upgrading thing worked REALLY well for me and then suddenly there's a whole chorus of "no" people. and when i change it, i'll probably change it so that u can only upgrade if ur at a certain economy level, and there's a certain amount of spending points that the upgrade costs, or i might have to start basing it on army or navy size, and i know i will end up forgetting or overlooking those things occasionally during updates, so it will suck for me, cuz it's one more set of details i have to make sure i don't just skim over in the rules. but, as i said before, there is no way in hell i'm letting u upgrade both navy and army at the price of one. no freakin way.

so next time anyone has a negative comment about my rules or anything i do, make sure u back it up or present me with better alternatives in the same post, if not for no other reason than to not sound ridiculously picky and to appear helpful.

and i'd just like to add another few things:
i never pretended that my rules were perfect. never. and if u hate them so much, then take Kentharu's example and leave. go to another NES or go start off ur own NES with ur own "ideal" set of rules. i'm willing to revise certain parts of my rules, not delete the whole thing and start from scratch. now, he did say he was leaving mainly cuz he had lost interest, but from his posts i can tell that it certainly was not the sole reason.

i know the rules are not perfect. i never said they were.
but they've worked, for the most part, for me. and i'm going to use something that works for me - i can easily go to someone else's NES and jsut copy and paste their rules - das's, for example - but does that mean i can work with it as well as he can? no, it doesn't. my rules work for me, das's rules work for das, jason's work for jason, etc. there are many mods who base their rules off someone else's, but somewhere down the road they end up making changes to fit themselves better. so if u hate my rules so much, then get the hell outta here because they work for me - i'm the goddamn mod of this NES, so the rules that work for me will be the rules of my NES.

EDIT: but the one place i acknowledge Kentharu is that he did put planning into his social stuff and i rarely mentioned or effect-ed it in updates. i'm gonna make more of an effort to do it from now on, though

Yay! Kam's not ending this!

Malaysia will invent fireworks once it gets to the next age and fire them off in your honour.

*sighs* I'm too late to send orders again, then?

no, deadline is pushed back till sunday night since the NES ended for about 2 days

OK! working now.

EDIT:
I think you should change the colors of either Kuril'taria or Travancore. Just to keep things easy to distinguish.

Idiots! Stop complaining! Kamilian is G-d! Would you kvetch to an omnipotent being far superior to you? I would certainly hope not! Oh, and I will re-join after the next update. As whom is coming.
