Update 5 - 2600 B.C.
Great celebrations are held in China. With the recent expansion in all directions, China has finally reached the shores of a great river. To celebrate this the citizens throw grand races of reed boats. However in the distance, trouble might be brewing as several barbarian tribes around the Chinese pick up Chinese civilization and form their own nations. They speak the Chinese langauge and copy their customs, but their rulers are firecly independent.
To the Northeast, the great city state of Liaotung. To the west, the state of Wuwei surrounding the city of the same name. To the South the state of Shu, and to the Southeast the state of Wu, also are centered around cities bearing their name.
In Japan, the Japanese continue to expand on their home island. The Southern half is completely under their dominion, but the Northern half has yet to be subjuguated. Further expansion with the navy has established contact with the strange cultures seen earlier. They are all Japanese, but obey different emperors or shoguns. On the tiny island just South of Honshu are rebels and ronin, various weak warlords that fight amongst themselves and live in general anarchy. Farther South however, is the powerful Satsuma Shogunate, which thrives around it's capital of Kagostama. Fare to the North, is the state of Hokkaido, which is centered around Hokkaido city in the center of it.
In Russia, the King leads a series of great expansions. To the North, the Baltic sea is seen but not reached. This is due to the presence of the Balts, various powerful tribes that live in the area fishing and hunting. They have slowed down the Russian advance a bit, as small raiding parties from near by villages often steal from their camps. To the South in Russia, expansion has made contact with the Ukranians, whose kings have finally awoken from their ancient slumber.
The Babylonians had been preparing for an Assyrian attack for quite some time. For a Sumerian one they were not quite ready for. The Sumerian armies smash through Babylonian lines with minnimal casualties. They seem on pace to reach the capital of Babylon itself. Farther North the Assyrians aren't having quite as much luck. They have advanced, but only after heavy resistance from Babylon's front lines. Even then, it has been reported that about 50 men have left Babylon and are on pace to reach the Assyrian capital of Nineveh.
Casualties: 100 Assyrian, 50 Sumerian, 200 Babylonian
In Rome, the wheels of the latin economy continue to roll. The Romans are back on track after a brief depression, and are prospering. Consequently, several tribes of Etruscans have decided to join the empire, as well as some minor Celtic groups nearby.
In Minoa, the education is increased. Young students busily etch the recently developed Minoan alphabet (the first in the world, developed by a Phoenician merchant) in academies, watched over by elderly tutors making sure that they are learning right. Already, the Minoans have learned the secret of horseback riding, and can equip their men with horses if they wish. Better yet, the education increase has yet to pay full dividends. Some say that a great advancement is just around the corner for Minoa. Meanwhile, politically, the colony of Mycenae is established, and more people flock to this new colony than any of the previous ones. The whole territory is full of settlers and is named Helles. Already, the small settlements of Argos and Tiryns are built right next to it.
To the Indian subcontinent. The barbarian tribes around Calicut continue to grow and grow, but the nearest ones are quickly dealt with. A large battle occurs with the Northern barbarians that the Calicutians win easily. From there, the Calicutan general ruthlessly kill all barbarians regardless of who they are. News travels quick and soon many emissaries from the other barbarian nations are knocking on Calicut's doorstep. Two of the barbarians, the Sinahalans and Surparakans give a combined tribute of one economy level.
Casualties: 50 Calicutans, 980 Barbarians
With an increased economy, the Crusaders of the Cross wisely increase their army. Dozens flock to the ranks of their lord to defend their nation. As a result, slowly but surely, the Gauls are pushed out of the Crusader's proper lands and even farther back into their own territories.
Casualties: 25 Crusaders, 100 Gauls
The Hittites expand Southeast as far as they can. The army is tired but finally, contact is made with the Phoenicians whose peasentry act friendly to the newcomers. The troops await further directions while facing their Phoenician counterparts, a small border garrisson. Back North in Hatti proper, a city is established in the Northern coastal province of Hittite Trebizond.
Civilization continues to spread, predominantly in the Middle East. To the South of Minoan Cyrennica, the Libyans establish an early state centered around their city of Marsa. Petra is no longer the only Arabic city state, Bakkah picks up the concept of city dwelling as well. And farther South along the Nile, the Nubians construct a kingdom around the city of Napata. In Europe, goverment organization develops, but hardly to the point of advanced civilization. Instead, the Europeans bond together into various barbaric tribes. Among these, the Dacians, Illyrians, Celts, and Iberians.
