IT 1 Update I 600 BC - 590 BC

Non-Millitary Events

In Mesoamerica, not much of great importance happens in the field of culture, education, enrichment of social lives, or anything else that encompasses a non-millitary event.

The Valencians began to expand their Education system, they begin to build 'libraries' to house their works of art, written things, etc. But the more important thing is the Phoentic script that has arisen out of this. It is spreading fast in the Valencian land, and their trade ships take their script language with them, conducting buissness with it. Thus, many other nations ports are begining to grow accustomed to using it. This may prove beneficial to the Valencians later.

They also begin to preach a new religion, Ibanismo [1]. It spreads quickly within their own lands, but has trouble rooting in others. Over time, it may have more success, however.

(+1 Valencian Confidence, +new culture)

The Sicilians open up their ports to the Italian nations. This brings in some trade, although nothing too spectacular. Brining in trade with Carthage however, has brought them into a profitable position. They get to tax the Carthiginians on their way to Italy, and offer lower tarriffs and better ports than the Sardinians. This makes the Sicilian economy grow much faster.

(+Sicilian economic growth)

Rome formalizes an alliance with the Ravennans, although political turmoil strikes the Italian penuisla soon after... (see millitary events)

Troy invests in building libraries and other projects, although this small event is soon overshadowed by a foil offensive invasion and an invasion of themselves! (see millitary events)

Palestine has been knocked off as an important region of trade, for the moment anyway, because of war... (see millitary events)

Millitary Events

Each Mesoamerican state begins to flesh out, and counqer weaker tribes aurond it, all with relatively small losses.

The Valencians sail up the coast to Inner Gaul. Naturally they encounter stiff resitance, but much more than they expected. The Gauls have generations of fighting superior enemies, Italians, and fighting amongst themselves. The city that was planned is constructed though, with rather high casaulties.

(-4 Valencian Hundreds, +2 from New Recruits)

In 592 BC, the Romans had been piling soilders on the border for some time now. The Campaignians knew it was coming, but they were much to weak to stop it. The Romans overran them shortly, with superior numbers and quality. The Campaignians quickly surrendered, although a few detachments of troops held out in the capital, it was all over fast.

But then, at the same time, the Pescarans invaded Ravenna without a declaration of war. The Pescarans had recently bought large amounts of better weapons from the Sicilians. They overran Ravenna much in the same way Rome overran Campaigna, although the Ravennans put up a stiffer fight. It too, was over all too quickly, for Rome never got a chance to help before the Ravennian royal family was slaughtered and Ravenna itself counqered. The Romans were immediatly outraged, and there were a few border skirmeshes between them and the Pescarans. It is liable to turn into all out war.

(+Pescaran Quality, -4 Pescaran Hundreds, -2 Roman Hundreds)

The Tarentianians expand quite well in Illyria. They suffer few causaulities, and are content to stay our of Pescaran and Roman affairs.

(-1 Tarentian Hundred)

The Nubians establish a defensive network, ready to defend. Although an attack doesn't come..

The Trojans gather their army, which is relatively small in quality, and quanity. Half goest East, to try and bring Hitties into their control, which is met with fierce resistance. Than with a small detactchment of troops, try to take the Illinois capital. Naturally, they rose up and annihilated the outnumbered invaders. They sheepishly attack back into Troy, and are gaining ground. The Trojan navy is in docks, and has not been destroyed..

(-4 Trojan Hundreds -3 Illinois Hundreds)

The Zylians have grown tired of having very little of Palestine proper, and strike their weak neighbor in an opputunstic move. The Tyrians have been building up millitary, but they were traders, merchants, sailors, not warriros. Despite the Zylians being horribly outnumbered, the Tyrians couldn't hold their ground. They retreated to their cities. Byblos in the South fell easily, then the Zylians gathered up for a siege. In a foolsih move by the Tyrians, they gathered every fighting man they had left, which ounumbered the Zylians 4 to 1. The Tyrians tried to overrun them, but the Zylians killed men after men. Soon, the Tyrians found themselves with no one left! The Zylians sustained losses, but not nearly as many as the Tyrians. The Zylians took over Tyre itself. The remainined Tyrians fled East. The Zylians help had not arrived timely, but the Sidonians DID offer a token invasion of Northern Tyre, but it did nothing to avert Tyrian troops, and has not gained any signifigant land.

(-3 Zylian Hundreds, -8 Tyrian Hundreds, -1 Sidonian Hundreds)

Mesopatamia is rather quiet, although the Medians are enclosing pretty fast...

NPC Diplop

From Pescara
To Rome

We apologize for destroying your weak allies, although with a faction that weak, why keep them alive?

Notes:

There is no spotlight, as I stretched as much as I could about what I was given anyway :p

[1] I can't make a funny n :p.

I will include troop numbers on the map when nations are a tad bigger, so it is easier.
This NES desperately needs players to take NPCs, or to make a nation. Advertise y'all!

I feel like im forgetting something... This was pretty short. I missed 3 orders sets, only out of 8. We neeeed more people...

Don't sweat about elaboration in your updates, haha... The elaboration is for us storywriters.

CRAP! Completely forgot I didnt send orders for this. @#$%$@%$%&$@EX@$^TY

Rome has nothing to say to Pescara. Glorified barbarians do not deserve to speak to the King.

LURKERS, JOIN PLEASE. WE NEED PLAYERS.

Believe me, I would have joined already but you are using the terrible ITNES rules. Go back to the "good old" rules (of NESV and so) and I'll join :p

Some people seem to have a phobia of BT's now...I don't mind them, thier just longer updates with more vague order requirements.

When the Sum people lived in the desert, they worshipped A. They would sacrifice only their enemies for A, as they didn't have any food to spare. They knew nothing of what their god could control, so they called him only A meaning diety. Gog wanted control over the Sum people, so he decided that only religion could help. He told the tribes that A demanded blood and land. They went out and killed their neighbours, and settled in their land. He also began regularily sacrificing individuals who opposed him.

On the day Gog called a man named Por to be sacrificed, he fasted as his own sacrifice. A minute before he was to sacrifice Por, he collapsed of dehydration from his fast. His last words were 'For you A, I give you this sacrifice!'

Shortly after, the people recieved a prophesy. They were to follow A's message and move up away from the dunes. The Sum people moved north, and settled along the Great Blue River. They began to worship the river instead. They called the god Aghua, or diety of water. They were in great debt to Aghua, who saved them from the desert and gave them food and drink. In return, they sacrificed food to Aghua, as there was plenty.

Over the course of hundreds of years did the Sum live in their new home. They expanded greatly, but they made sure to keep close to the watery domains of Aghua. One man, Lom, did not heed the warnings. He ventured out and built a settlment, and dwelled there. He had a son, by the name of Ak. Ak became very ill one day, and it could not be explained why. Lom gave sacrifices to Aghua constantly, and fed special herbs to Ak, but nothing worked. So he rose and left his settlement, taking Ak with him to the Great Blue River. He dunked him repeatedly in the water, while having a fellow man give a sacrifice to Aghua. Miraculously, Ak regained strength, and within a year was fully healthy.

Ak saw his opportunity arising. He proclaimed himself to be a prophet of Aghua, as Aghua had saved him. He took control as King and High Priest of the Sum. Being the type of person that he was, he was not satisfied with utter control of the Sum. He wanted to be forever remembered by all. So he changed the name of the tribe to Aksum.

During the early years of Ak's reign did problems arise. A looked down on the Sum people, who he believed to be his loyal followers. He saw that the Aksumites no longer worshipped him, but Aghua instead. He grew jealous, and decided to punish Aksum. He caused a long drought over all the lands of Aksum. The people prayed and prayed to Aghua, but payed no attention to Ak. He grew jealous as well, and issued a proclamation.

"Aghua is but one god, and there are many. This drought came from only worshipping Aghua. If you had listened to me, we could have avoided the drought altogether. It is your fault for disobeying the high preist. A has not forgotten us though you have forgotten him! He remembers, and is punishing us all for this. We must give sacrifices to him as well to please him."

Ak then realised the fault of his speech. If there are many gods, why is one called simply 'diety'? He needed a name to use for his people. So he thought, and came up with the name AghuaÏ, meaning diety of no water.

He brought the people further under his control than ever, and somehow throughout his pre-planned method of gaining power, he indeed was right about religion and ended the drought.
