stMjMNES3:Another Go

I remember when you said that I could come up with a civ that makes more sense well, I did that I hope this is better then what I said before.

Nation Name: Garðarshólmi
Capital: Reykjavík
Ruler: Flóki Vilgerðarson
Government (Efficiency): Monarchy
Culture: Viking/European
Tech. Level: You add this
Army (Quality): 5 Hundreds (Poor)
Navy (Quality): 7 Ships
Economy (Points): Growing (+1)
Trade: 0
Size (Points Required): Small (+1)
Infrastructure: Barely Tolerable
Education: Illiterate
Prestige: Tolerable
Confidence: Tolerating
Projects: None
Nation Background: Garðarshólmi was discovered by the Viking voagaer Garðar Svavarsson who decieded to name the island he found after himeself. However it was not Garðar Svavarsson who started the
first settlement in Iceland. He left it to a Huscarl named Flóki Vilgerðarson who was the one who founded the first settlment of Reykjavík.

Sigh. You join, make me make stats, NPCs, and such, you have done this in Mesopatamia, AND Central America. Stop dropping out.

I will join once I get back from USA

MjM, please see Generic Vacation Thread. I will try to get orders in on time but if not continue to work on improving my new capital and expand my navy.

@Slavic- But... the Vikings don't even exist yet!
You're right the Vikings don't exist yet. However there were Germanic tribes that had a similar culture to what the Vikings had.

G-d in heaven! Slavic, what don't you understand about civ zones? Really, is there something so incredibly complicated about them that everyone else in the forum somehow gets but that you can't? Most of us in the NES forum value realism, which is why civ zones were developed so people wouldn't start nations in Iceland and random areas of the world where civilization simply did not and could not exist at this early a point of time. Please, stop wasting all of our time and follow the rules so that we may have some semblance of realism.

Hear hear! I, for one, have been fairly fed up at the sheer level of Noobiness that has infested our forum as of late. I know that a certain level must be tolerated in the interest of eventual ascension to regular non-noob, but it is about time we make a stand against the sheer level of ignorance that some here seem to have for realism and the rules.

What makes me mad is when a noob does something stupid and then takes offense at the title noob.

Personally, my problem isn't with noobism in general, but when noobs refuse to even seriously attempt to learn the rules and make themselves a valuable member of the community. However, this is OT, so I will shut up now.

You sound like you're talking about Mexican immigration ;)

And MjM, any ETA on update time?

You sound like you're talking about Mexican immigration ;)
Except I believe in legal immigration for everyone who isn't a criminal. :p

*Repremands self for OT talk. Gets angry at self for repremanding self. Gets angry at self for getting angry at self. Shoots self.*

Yes, listen to those 2. Please either pick something inside, or close to a CZ zone, or give me a good explanation as to why you should start in Iceland, or wherever.
I say that a IMHO is good reason is because of what you yourself said earlier this thread. I am sorry if what I said is not what you meant but from my viewpoint it's totally reasonable by the description you provided. I will however be willing to make a compromise :) . By the way I am not intentionally trying to cause trouble and I am sorry for any troubles that I may have caused. :(

It's alright Slavic, just try and understand that realism is essential to NESing, and having a nation in Iceland at this point in time is so incredibly unrealistic that most of us react very strongly to it. Another thing the NESing community finds essential is that everyone read, understand, and follow the rules, and with this and nearly all fresh start NESes Civ Zones are an important part of the rules. In the future, please just follow the rules as they are written and remember to keep things realistic and you should be fine.

@slavic sioux, welcome to the NES! :D

Sending orders right nowhowzen.

MjM, having time issues. Please NPC me with expansion across into Aden and with uniting Ethiopia and Aksum culturally to prevent a rebellion.

Thanks.

Well could I be PMed when such a nation could be available to play as please?

When did people first have the naval technology to reach Iceland, the naval technology to transport a significant number of colonists there, and the agricultural and metal-working tenchnology to maintain a significant population in Iceland? Take a guess.

They weren't mariners though.

There are some NESes which enjoy a dose of unrealism... mostly low-budget and old-school really. StJNES4 had a powerful nation in Russia long before that was practical. Though it's not a very good comparison, Russia's far easier to access than iceland.

Quite a while from now. :p
