North King: I hate to say it, but I don't actually understand the Optimal Support portion of the military. o.o Is it a fraction, or something? Sorry...I feel dumb now.
Story:
I often find myself thinking about how this nation would deal with a long, protracted war. It's something I fear greatly, as war often consumes the populace with hatred, anger, and bloodlust. But I cannot allow this civilized nation to stoop to needless bloodletting, as that is all that truly seperates us from barbarians.
-- Emperor Enrique Valdez I,
The Civilized Nation
* * * *
The Valuan Empire.
A small, upstart little nation with its capital in the old Saja capital, its people consisted mostly of settlers and travelers from elsewhere which had arrived many generations before. Already they had begun to assimilate the tiny remnants of the Elvish population and the ethnic remains of the Saja. Valua prides itself on being civilized -- above warlike barbarians and their cruel ways -- and no where is this more evident than in its own ruler's ideals.
Emperor Enrique Valdez I did not think that an empire should grow based on military power, which was in the end "nothing more than coercion that would eventually collapse". Not to say he did not think a military was important, but it was not the only thing with which he figured into his plans.
[OOC: Argh, weak story, I know. I'll try to add more when I don't have writer's block...]
Orders:
1) First thing's first...Valua's military is extremely weak, and thus makes us an easy target for any well-equipped military. Rally as many infantry as possible on the budget provided [1 Income?], preferably Swordsmen. If the military isn't given some attention now, Valua might quickly fall beneath the might of another empire.
2) Of course, even with a military it'll be rather ineffectual if the infrastructure of Valua is nonexistent and troops take a month to cross the territory. Providing a budget [1 Income?], this will be used to attempt to enhance the road system and such. Even if it isn't enhanced enough to be seen on a large scale, it should at least vaguely improve the infrastructure.
3) As according to the map, send diplomats along the roads to those cities on the map. The diplomats along the pink lines should be accompanied by 200 Swordsmen and 100 Archers [split in half at the crossroads] to serve as bodyguards in case the cities are hostile. No soldiers should follow the brown line, but if the diplomats disappear or are killed there'll be hell to pay! Offer all the cities entrance into the Valuan Empire, and everything that goes along with. If they don't want to, then we can try again later...and if they still don't want to, we can always conquer them.
4) But the town circled in yellow MUST be brought into the Empire. With it, Valua will control entrance and exit of the interior sea! Of course, the first attempts must be peaceful, offer gifts and the like. Only if they refuse multiple times shall we have to get down and dirty. 10 fire galleys are to transport the diplomat across the short expanse, serving as a deterrent to any possible attacks.
[OOC: I hope these orders will do, as I -- in all my density -- find the rules on some things a tad bit vague...]
EDIT: I would forget the map...Xx;;
