OOC: I initially considered calling my nation Arya(n Empire), but I decided to be merciful and start further north.

Note that I have not much of an idea about OTL Bactria before the Greeks, culture-wise, so this Bactria's culture is not REALLY based on the OTL one.

Hey, at least I did not join as the Aryans as first intended. Although I realize that my second option (Irish Empire) would probably have been better taken to in Gujarat... ;)

Q: Can players start in the whole World?

Sorry anyone I ignored in this post, for I only saw this important thing browsing through.

Yup. Though players in the New World will be somewhat limited in their growth, and probably cannot have large populations until domesticates are introduced on a large scale. Or you could start in the Andes. :D

@pawpaw: Well, I'm keeping it as is in stats unless you want to change, since Cimmaria in my book would be barbarian, though I am curious as to the spelling. ;)

New Nations will be added to stats as you read this, stories will be read. I have a feeling I will deem the invention of the drum set improbable, though, Xen...

:p

Persia? Capital at Baghdad? I won't tolerate it! Ctesiphon at the very least, and then you're Sassanid and not properly Persian.
The source I found said that the capital of ancient Persia was Baghdad.

I don't really care where you start me, as long as it's in Persia...

Would Susa work Better?... If you're looking for Persian capitals, then it would be Susa, Persepolis, or a number of other ones. The Sassinids had it at Cestiphon, close to Baghdad, but not quite there. Your source is wrong. :p

Somebody's source needs to be slapped. ;)
Good capitals for ancient Persia would be: Persepolis (real Achaemenid capital), Susa (was capital at some point or other, I think), Ctesiphon (Sassanid capital... although Cuivienin, the Sassanids were a Persian revival dynasty; they weren't quite as "Persian" as the Achaemenids, but they were far more Persian than the preceding Parthians or Seleucids), or Babylon (Darius' capital immediately prior to the Macedonian invasion).

Maybe your source got Baghdad confused with Babylon or Ctesiphon, seeing as Baghdad was built (I think) on the opposite bank of the river from where ancient Ctesiphon was located.

Bah, NK beat me to it.

Yes, Susa would work much better. Thanks!

I can't believe I'm forgetting my ancient history already... I took it last year...

:p

well, that drum set is improbable, yes; but I only used it because I couldnt find any wooden drum sets, with hide covers in that sort of an arrangment

anyway, listen to the song in the lik I gave; all the dude uses is like three peices (bass drum, "high hat", and the symbols)

NK, can I switch to Manchurian rebels and be placed in Manchuria instead? I feel like raiding Korea then going on to conquer all of China :)

Oh, BTW, as a random note, you should not take your stats too seriously until I'm done with update zero, since I'll be fiddiling with a few, especially steppe nations and those that write stories. :)

Xen: Hi hat? You know what a difficult concept that is? :p

appernetlly, not sufficientlly difficult to keep stoned out Rastafarians from using it, so its obviouslly not that bad :mischief:[pimp] any drum that just makes ahigh pichted sort of tap will surfice really, for what I was trying to accomplish in the story.

An Examination of the Early Persian Oligarchy said:
...The early Persian government system was innovative... and practical for the society it was in charge of. It effectively combined religion, family groups, and intelligence to create a ruling oligarchy of intelligent priests, chosen from each family group, which did a remarkable job of preserving order and keeping peace internally.

...Each family's particular elder, who served as a shaman-type figure, would observe the youth, and choose one to be his apprentice on the same day as all boys who had come of age were assigned to their particular apprenticeships...

...The priests-in training were chosen based on their displayed intelligence, kindliness towards others, and desire to learn, and underwent a rigorous training process, assisting the family group's priest and assuming the position at the death of their master.

... Once they became a full priest, the priests became part of the Council of Elders, which met twice yearly in the capital at Susa to discuss matters pertaining to the nation as a whole. Emergency meetings could also be called, and every two years the council elected a smaller Council of Twelve to provide everyday administration of the state.

... Based on decrypted communications found in the Hall of the Elders in Susa (written in the priests' private language), the priest appear to have been fairly secular themselves, using the gods as propaganda tools to keep the common people in check. As a result, this was only told to apprentices during their formal initiation (before which they could not attend meetings of the Council), and if they could not accept it and failed their initiation, they were ritually sacrificed, and a new apprentice would have to be found...
It's incredibly annoying that quotes don't count towards the ten character limit...

OOC: You know you could have just posted it instead of the quotes you know  You make us all look primitive with your high tech quotes...

Blackheart is no longer being the other Mongol?
Not fun!
Can I become Malaysia again, then?

OOC: great... contempt is now the only visible Mongolian Clan...
