stNNES7: Worlds and Empires

Jason, the problem is, Franks and Germans are the same thing. In OTL, the differences became when Franks came under Roman and Gaelic cultural influence, having moved into Gaul. I assume that its the same here, but with lesser "Roman" (Ravennan - yes, Xen, I know that there are differences... but admit it, Ravennan and Roman cultures are very, very similar. Not to mention that you have the same color. :p ).

Historical spam....mmmmm.....tasty.....

Althistorical spam. That's even better.

Contempt, you're playing the Avars-that-went-in-the-wrong-direction, right?

No, there really is no problem, since this is not OTL. This is a NES, where the players get to make the histories of their countries (with help from the mod :)), and so, the Franks are a seperate peoples.

North King, you've had your 2.5 days. If you don't update today, I'm getting on a plane to Green Bay and I'll be at your house with a bat by the time you get home from school tomorrow ;)

OK, I will change it again:
Balearic renagade pirates took several French towns very close to Ravvena hostage. They hostages revolted and brought the ships to Africa. They intermarried and developed a new culture that is mostly African but with a mostly Franco-Ravennan language and other Franco-Ravennan customs. The new Hatian culture was driven out of Africa and out to the Carribean. The Creoles, more African than the Cajuns, settled in Hispanola and established teh Hatian capital of Port-au-Prince. The Cajuns, more French than the Creoles, settled in Louisiana and established Haiti's second city, New Orleans (kind of ironic that I am establishing New Orleans right after it got destroyed isn't it?). Though many of the ships, about 40 to be precise, were destroyed during the great exodus, the people still have some of the best ships which are designed off of Balearic ship design and some of the Haitians' own creativity.

If the hostages revolted, why on earth would they go to Africa???

They were already past Gibralter and to return would have meant simply being taken by otherpirates. While trying to decide where to go, one little fella spoke up and said that his great-great-grandfather had told of a place south and west of Gibralter where there was land and the people on the coast were friendly. So they sailed that way and upon reaching Guinea and Togo settled down utnil they were driven out.

They were desperate! I mean, would you want to have only the choices of a) leaving your home for ever or b) going back and getting sold into slavery? They were willing to listen to whoever spoke up first. Besides, this kid happened to be believed to have supernatural powers and to talk to the gods (who stole alot of opium ;) ).

Correct. ;)

I have to ask- why is it important to make them french?

Because Haitian and Creole/Cajun culture would never have existed if not for French influence. The thing that makes Haiti, well, Haiti, and not Africa is the Frenchness of it. One of my best friends is Haitian, and believe me, she and her family are almost as French as they are African. Portuguese just wouldn't work.

What do you mean? There isn't a single country in teh Americas at his moment!

Just because it doesn't appear on the map doesn't mean there's nothing there :p For example, when Ravenna reaches America (i dun doubt this for a moment) nations will show up on the map and stats. Until then, north king will refuse to make nations and stats ;)
