Stone Age Mod for 3.19

This mod look great but seems to CTD after playing several turns. I am running vista so that probably is the problem in its self. Looking at adding a vista fix for this mod and when???

I'm afraid this mod crashes for me too.

Vista 32 bit OS here.

I tried both times a custom game, first of the standard maps (shuffle in this case) and the second time one of the mapscripts which you need to fill in lots of options.

All good so far, but once I start the game, a quarter way of loading it it crashes to desktop.

Damn ... It seems this mod isn't compatible with Windows Vista . I know Vista consumes most of the computer's performance. Maybe that's the reason. However, I haven't found the way to have a DLL with 3.19 label. Maybe that is the cause of the crush ... I don't know. Does anybody here knows how to upgrade the DLL label?

Some errors I found by using DavidLallen's CivCheck:

Hmm probably those are the problems. However, is strange that WinXP doesn't CTD with them but Vista does

I'll correct them and upload a BETA_PATCH. Hope it will help.

However, thanks for your help. I didn't know there was a Civcheck utility. Where can I get it? And how do I make us of it?

Hello everybody. I've fixed the errors mentioned above. I don't have a Vista OS right now, but maybe any of you, who had a quick CTD can check if it works.

1. Paste the .RAR file in your BTS MODS folder.
2. Right click on it and choose "Extract Here".
3. Let the system overwrite the files.
4. Get into this folder:
  • <Your Civ4 Installation Folder>\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Stone Age\Assets\XML\Technologies

5. DELETE the file named "Civ4Techinfos_backup.xml" (don't hesitate on it xD)

Be careful not to delete any other file please .

Ok ... Hope to get some feedback soon .

The Triturador, the above patch did not fix the CTD.

But I have done some trials for you:
When I deleted the DLL I could start a new game (albeit there's python errors of course - missing functions from the DLL). So it seems there are problems with the DLL itself.

I've compiled a Stone Age DLL on my Vista machine and my DLL is 6.652 Mb in size while the one included by Trit is only 5.000 Mb

I didn't test it however.

Upload it here and I'll give it a try.

Hmmm I haven't shared many functions with Python from the SDK (since I was not planning to use them on python). But, is it possible that the problem is because of that? I haven't changed anything on the Python code so I'm not really sure it could be .

I remember reading somewhere before, EmperorFool or someone quoting him, that Vista is a lot more strict about errors in DLL dependencies.

I hope that hint helps you a bit in your future updating of DLL, if you do any of that.

Yeah!! I'll take care for the next release :D.

Back to the actual mod ... it seems like Atlatls are the only units that can gain XP from animals. I'd like to suggest/request that Scouts get to gain XP from surviving animal attacks ... they can't attack, but by the time you get Scouts, they seem utterly worthless, especially facing 4+ strength animals like Lion prides (p.s., I think 'Lion Herd' should be called 'Lion Pride' ... that's the English terminology anyhow)

I also noticed Scouts have cargo space for Animal that, reading through the changelog, was for Hawks ... was that the only animal? If so, since you removed it, maybe you should remove the now useless feature, or maybe allow Scouts to acquire horses in that spot that would give them a movement and withdrawal advantage or an elephant that would give them a strength advantage or something like that.
